I've got a huge crush on the builder who's currently sorting out the kitchen. He's around the same age as me and he's adorable. I'm married for nearly 3 years and ds is 20mo. How on earth do you get over this sort of thing? Obviously there's no chance I'd do anything about it! But I also can't avoid him at the moment for another week or so.

Thanks Soggy, and sorry to be macabre. I've been at peace with it for a long time.

Builders net -

My client is really hot and I think she likes me, I keep trying to be cheeky and smooth but I think its coming across as weird, and my Dad keeps hovering around. AIBU to ask for ways to preen and saunter without looking like Julian Clary in too tight knickers? Not to drip feed, she's married but its not wrong to enjoy the view right?

Grin
SoggyClothesAndBreezeblocks · 03/02/2017 15:54

Loup I love it! Meanwhile on world leaders net...

Met a gorgeous blonde a few years back at a function. Gave it my best shot at being charismatic and suave, even kissed her on the cheek! She was with her DP though. Aibu to put a hit out on him and claim her as my own?

Hahaha brilliant soggy! Grin . Ex did joke at the time couldn't I take one for the team and try and get him a promotion Shock Grin

pudding21 · 03/02/2017 15:59

Hahahah this thread is hilarious.

Putin WTF? The mexican president though ;)

In all seriousness I have had a long standing crush on Nigel Havers. I have no idea what it is about him but he does something to me. Has done since I was about 10. He gets better with age!

I don't think you can help having an attraction to someone, its all about chemistry. Acting on it of course is another matter............

SoggyClothesAndBreezeblocks · 03/02/2017 16:03

And I bet you definitely wouldn't have leapt at the chance, eh Loup Grin

Nigel Havers !!? Heard it all now Grin

OP posts:
LoupGarou · 03/02/2017 16:09

Nigel Havers?! Shock

Well, I was always a dutiful and supportive fiancee Soggy Grin.

LoveforPGTipsMonkey · 03/02/2017 20:26

Loup - and where did that get you (re dutiful fiancee) - he's an ex! AND he was joking about sharing you for his promotion, to boot.
Was this pre-Putin divorce? You could have been DP/DW no.2 Shock, hough no, I think that would be like prison (well unless this was more than a crush but actually love forever Hmm... but MAYBE he can do quick flings too?! Assuming you are not russian yourself, there was an added exotic element for him

Oof sorry about your scars, thank God not on face and neck, and also that you managed to move on! Soundss very striking, blonde hair and nearly-black eyes, very rare. So identifying too - are you trying to let him know since the crush is still there?! Grin

LoveforPGTipsMonkey · 03/02/2017 20:30

Ooh I like Nigel Havers too!
Nigel is actually VERY funny/charming so pudding and I are not wrong at all Grin Plus he's NICE unlike the world leaders

LoupGarou · 03/02/2017 20:42

Love to be fair I left him, he was and still is a lovely, amazing man. He was joking in private about the sharing (slightly in joke, probably needs context), he wasn't a twat like that probably makes him sound.
Yes it was very much pre-divorce, quick fling/fwb yep, DW number 2...no thanks! Then again... Grin Nope I'm not Russian, but I lived there long enough to be fluent and still have the remnants of a Russian accent.
Thank you, well ya never know, if DH keeps up with his moral high horse act might have to give him something to clutch those pearls about...Grin. I live in bumfuck nowhere, ain't nobody gonna be identifying me Grin

LoupGarou · 03/02/2017 20:52

And gah your MrNiceyMcNicePants Havers Grin

I apparently have a type too - in Game of Thrones for example Roose Bolton and Tywin Lannister. Got to love a powerful villain Grin

LoveforPGTipsMonkey · 03/02/2017 21:06

ahem, Loup - I meant HE can identify you by reading MN, don't you know Russian spies are everywhere checking Putin's popularity Grin (seriously). He'd be so chuffed as obv he liked you. FWB with VP - haha never thought I'll see it on Mumsnet!
I do think that Putin appeals hell of a lot more if you can understand Russian - he speaks very well.
And are you saying you 've left that lovely amazing man because secretly you gone cold about him after getting hypnotised but VP? Grin - can't help but tease you now myself!
I can have crushes on nice guys and occasionally on not-so-nice - as I say, I'm eclectic Grin. Not even sure what is a deciding factor hmm.

LoveforPGTipsMonkey · 03/02/2017 21:07

*hypnotised by

LoupGarou · 03/02/2017 21:20

Aaaaaad that would be a bad thing why? Grin I am willing to bet there are enough fangirls on Russian forums to make my posts fade into oblivion. Hahaha - would that be FWBwVP? Perhaps I should make it my username Grin. I do sometimes daydream about woman a gorgeous apartment in Moscow and a fwb arrangement, obvs if DH wasn't in the picture Grin. Oh yes, definitely, he has a really hypnotising way of speaking too, and is very witty Blush .
I did, poor ex just didn't measure up . Well, not literally, ex is very tall. Hypnotising like a cobra, mmmm. That sounds ridiculous, perhaps a reason for me not to Wine and mumsnet? Grin. DH is now in the finding it hilarious phase, or was until he found out his favourite of my evening dresses was the very one I wore that fateful night Grin.

Well, variety is the spice of life, and its always good to be open minded Grin.

LoupGarou · 03/02/2017 21:20

Not sure where that extra "woman" came from. Stupid autocorrect. Stupid wine.

GetAHaircutCarl · 03/02/2017 22:05

Op I inadvertently text my 25 year old ( very lush) builder at Christmas. It was meant for a friend.

I said 'you are sex on a spoon'. Shock

He text back that he didn't think it was meant for him and I profusely apologised and confirmed it wasn't.
To which he replied 'shame'.

We are now at a terrible impasse with me pretending he didn't say that. And him tootling around the place looking impossibly handsome Blush.

LoupGarou · 03/02/2017 22:27

Oh no getahaircut! Has he said anything since? Shock

LoveforPGTipsMonkey · 03/02/2017 22:46

Loup, obvoiusly plenty of Russian fangirls, but you are different and one of the very few of English forums let alone mumsnet - BUT you aer the only one, I bet, who he actually met and fancied, come on, you are the front-runner! With your unusual looks and a bit of an accent (and not a large gathering that day), I'm sure he would remember easily.
Ah the DRESS! what's it like? are you going to frame it Grin

LoveforPGTipsMonkey · 03/02/2017 22:47

GetaHaircut - this IS awkward, but he's quite cocky then as doesn't bother him! are you not single?

LoveforPGTipsMonkey · 03/02/2017 23:04

I didn't say it was a bad thing, Loup - just questioning your motives Grin for making yourself recogniseable!

SoggyClothesAndBreezeblocks · 03/02/2017 23:22

Oh my god GetAHaircut that is fabulously funny Grin id try that if I wasn't married!

OP posts:
LoupGarou · 04/02/2017 00:04

Love thank you. Its full length, black/midnight blue in some lights, sleeveless and bateau necked. Its silk, it's backless and has a row of teeny buttons from the top of my butt up to where it stops just above my tailbone. Its very drapery and has a very small train which puddles around my feet if that makes sense. Sorry, I am rubbish at describing clothes, its a lot nicer than I make it sound. I will say though that I was very glad it was backless on that evening Grin

I think I should frame it, I still wear it sometimes though Grin. Motives, I suppose just not fussed anymore. I get quite a lot of hassle every time I re-enter the US due to my ongoing association with my ex, even though DH and I are US citizens now, and I never talk about the time I lived in Russia in RL (people are very anti Russia where we live), so its nice to reminisce Smile. When ex comes to visit people here seem to think he's German Confused.

MargotLovedTom1 · 04/02/2017 00:17

Sorry to barge in but I have to go back to Nige - Nigel Havers is DIVINE and I've loved him ever since Don't Wait Up when I was a young 'un. He's got brown eyes though PGTips Wink.

LoveforPGTipsMonkey · 04/02/2017 00:23

you'll get hell of a lot more hassle if you had FWBwVP! Grin Bet you'd be kinda relishing the hassle then.
Unusual to have boatneck AND backless - some thin straps then? of off the shoulder? and yes, backless is so seductive! VP may well have had fantasies that night Shock

LoveforPGTipsMonkey · 04/02/2017 00:25

Ah Margot - yes I wan't entirely sure on that one, I only recently noticed him in that light! I take your word for it. Love his charming sense of humour.

LoveforPGTipsMonkey · 04/02/2017 00:27

Re looking like a German - not that surprising, it's such a mix in russia, many may look like a Western European (esp Scandi or German) especially if they had any Baltic republics ancestry.
