My dcs adore Crail and we have had many happy days rock pooling there.
I am away to re-purple my thistle head while all is quiet in the house. Hope the bairn is feeling a bit better. I had to take the General to the vet on Saturday as he'd been coughing and make horrible retchy noises. Apparently there is nothing wrong with him unless a fireball for which she gave me paste for him. FIFTY THREE FUCKIN QUID!!!!!! Useless furry faced bastard...

dementedma · 24/07/2016 15:22

Furball, not fireball!Grin Here he is looking malnourished and stressed Hmm

Sorry for all the drunk self indulgent posting. I've managed yet again to waste an entire weekend either drunk or hungover. Finally slept at about 5am, not bothered to even get dressed today yet. Need to get a grip, I'm exhausted and increasingly terrified by this whole thing.

sweet I hope your having a nice day out. Maybe in some way I am having some kind of subconscious final blow out (well, several!)...kind of testing how far I can push it. That probably doesnt make much sense.

Not going to drink today, it will be my first AF day in a week.

Grin at fireball!! That would be concerning, poor cat!

MaryMungoAndMidgies · 24/07/2016 17:56

Grin Grin fireball! Your General comes with his own ammo!! Genius!! A truly talented feline ye got there ma, Fifty three pounds for a furball. Dyson him I say. Followed by a sticky roller. That oughta do it! Grin I reckon they both look contented in your photo. There's nowt like a hairy bairn for a bosie.

Enjoy your re-purpling! I had mine sheared v short again this week, no time for faffing for the next 2-3 months. I'm still arsing about trying to find the perfect hair goop. Not too sticky, actually does something in terms of styling, smells fine, doesn't set my hair like concrete etc etc. I love the feel of Kevin Murphy's undressed, but it doesn't smell fine. It reminds me of cod liver oil or something. Faint hint o fish. Currently using Da Dude (I'm not a dude Hmm) hair wax. Now that smells gorgeous, moulds perfectly but is sticky as arse.

Oh elba, Oi now. You have to keep posting, you have to get it out. You will feel better for letting those emotions free. Don't keep everything inside, it'll eat you up. Don't worry, if you get too self indulgent a certain squid will wrap its suckers round your chops. I wish I had answers for you my dear. How is your AF day going? Are you coping? Have you eaten? Have you managed a nap? Kick my arse if I'm nagging it's well padded I won't even feel it xx

lala have you been out for a ride today? What happened with your surrogate horse the other day? It sounded like you had a bit of a day. Is your other horse on box rest? Hope it's nothing too serious. I'm going to miss riding for a bit, so would be grateful and mighty cheered for any horse tails/tales you care to bung my way. My friend is going to pop some tack round for me to clean while I supervise the Bairn. I find it mighty therapeutic and the smell sends me to a happy place so all good. How has your day been? xx

mouse I'm sorry my moosie wee pal, I thought I'd have a go at making a new thread, I wasn't sure if anyone was coming to do it or no. I'll sit on my hands next time! How are you? Have you any more fundraising activities planned? Your new dog is so, so handsome, wee Nemo is in super safe paws, what a truly magnificent guardian! xx

It's six o'clock, tablet and teatime for the Bairn. Scuse me for a bit, hope you are all having a fine Sunday, xx

I have low carbed all day.
I have also just inhaled a Ripple. Surely one wee ripple won't undo all the good work.

MaryMungoAndMidgies · 24/07/2016 20:37

No ma it's chocolate coated air. You're fine Grin

Damn you for that picture wry. Now I want another one....

Elba84 · 24/07/2016 21:02

wry thank you lovely. Im AF, and have had some dinner. Not acheived much else but never mind. How's pup this evening? Give her a big cuddle from me. ️Xxx

I'm a shaky, anxious mess today, and it's totally self inflicted. Im coming to the realisation that this is serious, and I'm not in control of it in any way. I have a couple of trips away in the next couple of weeks and I know I will drink, but after that maybe it's time to call it a day.

MaryMungoAndMidgies · 24/07/2016 23:00

Oh elba I am so pleased you are okay, you sounded so weary. I am happy you've eaten, and also relieved you've had an AF day. I can only say that I too have been a shaky anxious mess more times than I care to mention. I hope tomorrow you will feel a little less shaky and that you are able to rest tonight.

Please, please take one day at a time, no big unachievable targets, you'll just scare yourself and think fuck it. Hours at a time if need be. Whatever it takes. You've done so well today. (((((((bosie))))))))

You don't have to achieve anything my darling, you just need to be. If it's watching a cheesy film, doing your ironing or slobbing with a book and a pile of tea and toast, then that's fine. Check in with us when you're away, won't you? I find when I'm away I have the added pressure that nobody knows me or cares what I do and therefore it gives me permission to act out. You have someone, we care, and we are here. Always always always. You're right, it is serious but you recognise that.

Thank you for the Bairn's cuddle, will pass it on in a few mins. She is bored and girny, she doesn't want to be so still. The diarrhoea has stopped (thank you dog poop angel) and I'm no longer in fear of her pink stookie being soiled. Will be sleeping down with her tonight again just in case. I can tell when her pain relief is fading, she was on methadone and is now just on tramadol and Metacam. She's adjusted quite well, bless her. It's a proper busman's holiday for me.

Try to get some rest, I hope you have a more peaceful night, see you tomorrow petal, nighty night, xx

Morning babes. Had a reasonable week last week, as had a couple of small beers instead of lots of wine. (Most days). Am aiming for an Af day today then no wine in thw week, if I do have a drink I will try to stick to a beer as after a couple of beers I have had enough whereas if I have a couple of glasses of wine , It leads to most of the bottle.

LadyClegane · 25/07/2016 08:28

Morning everyone. A new week. How's everyone doing today?

I'm on my hols at the mo so chilling out. This is my first booze free holiday ever. I do miss sitting down with a bottle glass of something cold and sweet but I don't miss that lurch awake at 3am wondering what the hell I did the night before.

Day 30 here. I'm planning to go through til the end of the hols, that'll make it six weeks (yay me). Not sure about after that, I'd like to think I can then start drinking again, but in moderation. Not sure I can do moderation. I think I've got to avoid cider for the rest of my life, it is so cheap I end up buying a 3litre bottle per night, which obviously isn't good.

But I'm trying not to think too far ahead, one day at a time.

Hugs, Diet Coke and Opal Fruits all round today xxx

Elba84 · 25/07/2016 10:30

Oh wry your posts always make me feel so much better, like a real life hug. Thank you lovely. Hope you and the Bairn had a good night. Didn't realise they gave dogs methadone!!! Bless her!

lady well done- a sober holiday is a huge achievement! Hope you have a lovely time.

mrs avoiding wine sounds like a good plan. Maybe I should try that. I can drink a lot of beer/cider but I seem to drink it slow enough to stay relatively ok. Wine/spirits go down far too fast! Well done, sounds like you have a good plan for the week.

I'm off to work...have a lovely day of auditing to get through Hmm Had a reasonable night, still got a slight lingering hangover from the weekend though I think. Could really do with another AF night tonight but can't think that far ahead at the minute.

Hope everyone is having a good day xxx

dementedma · 25/07/2016 16:19

well, two good things have happened today.
My Veteran got a job!!!! The chap I met last week. Not a great job, and not what he's worth but a job. He phoned to tell me and sounds so much more positive already. So happy for him Grin
Secondly I got a VIP invite to the Edinburgh tattoo which includes "supper" in the castle and being bussed to the best seats with cosy blankets and everything....if it's raining I get a handsome officer in mess dress to hold an umbrella over me. (ok, I made that last bit up!)

aliasjoey · 25/07/2016 16:20

I found you all!

aliasjoey · 25/07/2016 16:22

Cross-posted - oooohh ma sounds fab! And well done for helping out your ex soldier

laladidah · 25/07/2016 18:04

Whoop whoop ma, I love a good soldier, especially one in mess dress. On a serious note, glad he is ok and so pleased you have helped him.

elba, how you holding up?

wry my horsie is an old girl, think I've told you that before. Riding her for the first time in a week tomorrow. Can't wait. In the mean time, I had surrogate pony who rang rings round me, the little git. Hack yesterday was perfection, sun, woods, cantering in the sunshine... 'Twas really grand. I got a big grey who was smaller than my girl, but solid. Can't wait to do it again.

Off to the shops with pupster, to try and get some ingredients for dinner. Anyone got any good pasta recipes????

dementedma · 25/07/2016 19:24

There's a thread for good pasta recipes in active threads

MaryMungoAndMidgies · 25/07/2016 20:29

ma see, that was you! You started his good fortune with a bosie! It's a stepping stone for him my thistlyheided friend, but in the meantime, a reason to be. Check you oot hobnobbing with the veeps again, I don't often do this, but tonight when she's doing her last pee I will do a little rain dance for that date. Can't have you being all dry now can we? Grin
Not when there's some strapping, smartly dressed brolly holders aboot...
Jealous? Me? bloody am Grin

elba how are you today twinkle? Did your auditing go okay? Have you had something to eat? Fill your time, cook something fancy, or watch Dance Moms like me Grin

I know, methadone for dogs, I wonder how they feel on it? I hope she didn't feel scared, hopefully just floaty or something. She has been proper gobby at any strange sound since she came home. She is a bit on edge I think.

My sister gave me a clarisonic face thing, I am away to rasp my cheeks to see if I can make them look less weathered. And I need to epilate pretty much everything. My evening is going to be a joyous event...hope you are okay lass, mucho bosies, xx

lala aaah thank you blissful tales of hoss to brighten my day. So glad for you that you and your girlie are heading out tomorrow, I hope the weather stays fine for you! Also happy you had a lovely hack, and a teeny bit jealous...I love riding in woodlands, it smells like heaven. And when the bluebells are out? Oh wow. There is nothing like a ride when you are fed up or down, it's my ultimate stress buster. The horse I ride is a big, solid grey, he is easy 99% of the time. Strong, capable and bold but still a gentleman. Then that 1% where he can be an absolute arse where you struggle to hold him. If he gets away from you you've had it. Grin

I know it's a bit late for tonight, but I am a fan of Marcella Hazan for Italian recipes, she was a more traditional style cook, not showy at all, but oh god some of her sauces! The downside with some is they need a very long, slow simmer, some of them hours, but sooooo worth it. Saying that, one of my favourite quick pasta dish recipes is finely chopped chillies, garlic, olive oil, lemon juice and parsley. With or without prawns.

How's training going with pup? xx

lady 30 days!!!!!!!!! That's worthy of a pompom shoogle!! Fabulous that you've managed an AF holiday, and keep thinking one day at a time, you are doing so well! xx

mrsmim That sounds like a fab, positive week for you! xx

joey hello quine! Fit like! What have you been up to? No chance of you going MIA, I would be wafting an Aitkens into the ether until it caught your nostrils. Grin xx

Right, off to do some ironing and grab a cup of tea. There is a bottle of elderflower cider in the fridge weeping to get out but I am holding firm. It's been there for days tormenting me. I long for the day I forget it's there but reckon that's way off yet. Weird evening here, absolute downpours then sticky airless uncomfortableness in between. Huzzah for my magicool tin. Laters, taters xx

dementedma · 25/07/2016 20:40

You are doing brilliantlywry....am well impressed.

fadingblonde1 · 25/07/2016 22:35

wry if your bottle of elderflower cider is anything like the bottle I had it will taste more like fruit juice than cider. I hadn't had cider in years and picked up a bottle in BM bargains and it was nothing like the cider I remembered (I'm pretty much ok drinking anything but wine, I don't know why but with wine I just want one glass more).
