did you have sex with your DP on first date and did it a) lead to a relationship or b) he/she lose interest straight after? Just interested really?

No, wouldn't dream of it. I made them wait 3 months

Tiredofsummer · 11/06/2016 17:08

I did this years ago with my last long term partner 4 years, we did know each other before though. I don't think it's usually the way to do things though but it can work probably isn't the right thing.

Mookbark · 11/06/2016 17:08

Yes. Been together 25 years now, married 20.

EllenRipley · 11/06/2016 17:09

Yup, first, only and longest one night stand of my life Grin

MegBusset · 11/06/2016 17:09

Yes
A
Been together 15 years this year :)

EllenRipley · 11/06/2016 17:10

(I.e we're still together 16 years later)

PacificDogwod · 11/06/2016 17:11

I tried Blush

He told me no and that I was too drunk to know what I was doing (he was right).
That was 20 years ago.

Fourormore · 11/06/2016 17:11

With my DH, yes, I did and we've been married for 3 years now. I've also slept with other people on first dates and it hasn't worked out but I haven't felt that it was because we slept together - more that we weren't right for eachother. I don't regret it (okay, maybe a couple of dodgy ONS I'd rather delete from my memory!) as I was happy with casual sex at the time.

DramaAlpaca · 11/06/2016 17:12

No, we waited a while.

We've been together 28 years now, married for 26.

DiggersRest · 11/06/2016 17:13

Yes, I've had 2 ONS both led to relationships and second one l married Smile

Goingtobeawesome · 11/06/2016 17:14

Never on a first date. A couple were too soon in retrospect. With DH we waited three months ish and have been together 20 years.

Tiggeryoubastard · 11/06/2016 17:14

No. Absolutely not. And if he expected it (maybe worded that badly) I wouldn't have seen him again. If someone else wants to that's fine, no problem, but that's not for me.

Wait4nothing · 11/06/2016 17:19

Yes, been together 7 years and married 4.

SooticaTheWitchesCat · 11/06/2016 17:19

Yes, and I had only met him the day before. We have now been together for 13 years and married for 12 Smile

monkeychop · 11/06/2016 17:22

Wow, congrats on all your long relationships, worked out well for so many of you.
Any experiences where sleeping on first date made them lose interest straight after?

CharminglyGawky · 11/06/2016 17:23

Yes, and we've been together 5 years and married last year.

But whilst it was our first date we had seen each other loads and spent hours and hours together in the week or so beforehand but the first 'date' didn't happen until over a week after he asked me out as he was working nights at the time and needed to wait for his next day off. We had actually shared a bed but not done anything a couple of times before our first date!

TheCrumpettyTree · 11/06/2016 17:25

Yes, still together ten years later. It was just different somehow.

60sname · 11/06/2016 17:25

What's your experience of this, Monkey?

Goingtobeawesome · 11/06/2016 17:26

I left the first person I slept with after the second time. He still wanted to be with me. couldn't tell you why as years ago but recently realised it wasn't consensual sex so maybe subconsciously....

A couple dumped me as I said something stupid and they thought I was getting too heavy too soon. I didn't mean it HmmConfused.

SandyY2K · 11/06/2016 17:28

No. Not with DH or any other lasting relationship.

WhatALoadOfOldBollocks · 11/06/2016 17:29

If I fancied him and was horny I would. In my experience it makes no difference to whether the relationship will work or not. Also, if a man was put off me because in his view I was "easy" then I've realised lovely and early what an outdated misogynist he is and saved myself dating the twat. Then again I don't consider sex to be something I "allow" a man to have from me (so pointless making him wait because I'd only be cutting off my nose to spite my face), and I also don't equate it with love. It's mainly lust for me.

YouAreMyRain · 11/06/2016 17:31

Yes, with my ExH, we were together 16yrs.

If someone is only interested in sex, it doesn't matter if you make them wait 3 seconds or 3 months, they will lose interest once they have had sex with you.

If you click then you can shag immediately and be together 30 years.

There is no formula that waiting for sex = longevity of relationship

Natsku · 11/06/2016 17:31

Yes, with all 3 serious relationships I've been in. With the latter two it was also the first day I met them!

SoThatHappened · 11/06/2016 17:32

Done it once. It lasted a year.

WhatALoadOfOldBollocks · 11/06/2016 17:32

Oh, and also, I don't want to get emotionally involved with a man for weeks only to discover he's a crap shag we're sexually incompatible! Better for me to find out about something so fundamentally important to the relationship early on, like making sure he's not a UKIP voter.
