Keep up the good work JoJo!

MatronLittle · 13/05/2016 18:58

shark the firsts are weird. Change your routine tonight. Or take to your bed early with a book or Netflix.

I had a period of sobriety when I was hosting and attending parties/lunches/ celebrations and that all went well the bit that caught me out was the mundane times, the at home and in habit times.

I have found cycling to be a very useful tool.

AbsoluteBeginner · 13/05/2016 19:09

shark you're doing well, and we're not strangers we're fellow sober warriors you just don't happen to know IRL Smile lavender and hemp, wow

SharkSkinThing · 13/05/2016 19:10

Thank you matron. I am out tonight which is a change and I'll be driving. I generally don't go out as I preferred to drink (lots) at home. And start at 5pm!

Going to bed early is rather heavenly isn't it?!

Thanks for your support. When is your awards do? Flowers

MatronLittle · 13/05/2016 19:37

shark ah yes you are driving tonight. Mind you previously that would have not stopped me having 1 glass under the limit. Or more truthfully I would have cancelled the outing unless I didn't have to drive. Or get a huge taxi bill.

Presentation is not for a few weeks yet. Pleanty of time to flap Grin

Have a great night driving let us know all about the great feeling of winding the tape forward to a hungover free Saturday morning.

SharkSkinThing · 13/05/2016 19:43

Aw, thanks Matron. Off now! Will report back later. Smile

FuzzyWhiteLegs · 13/05/2016 20:26

I'm on one of my favourites tonight Grin in my new favourite cheesy glass!

Love the idea that sober warriors are not strangers Angry Bird

matron I had the same dinner as you but with a Fever Tree Ginger Beer Grin

MatronLittle · 13/05/2016 21:47

miss cookie I am trying to stick to simple food as the alcohol replacement drinks are full of sugar and carbs. Finding that tricky as I am eating way too much between meals. Half a loaf of bread for example and a ton of sweet stuff. End result is that I am putting on weight.

Dry January I lost a stone. I viewed that absence as a liver cleanse and general healthy month. I have focused so much on abstaining this time that everything else has gone out of the window.

misscookie · 13/05/2016 21:59

matron first 2 months I ate a whole Green and Blacks chocolate bar - the big ones everyday.. and loads of food - carbs, bread pizza etc.

I'm better now as it's been 4 months, but in the beginning I just thought that I'd give myself a break and try not to stress about it. And yes I put on half a stone Sad.

Now I feel a bit less wobbly I'm starting to eat healthily again..

Your sound like your doing just great, my advice would be to just not worry about your calorie consumption, concentrate on staying sober, look after yourself, treat yourself to nice food and your diet will sort itself out with a bit of time.

HappySober · 13/05/2016 22:07

Evening, this thread moves so fast!

Ty to eating...I'm going to have to be strict with myself moving forward I've eaten a ton of sweets the last few weeks. Usually I'm a chocolate girl but recently I want my sugar as refined as possible!

Hope you're having fun Shark I used to (get that, used to) do all my best drinking at home too, didn't want people to know think I had a problem.

jojo well done on the funding application, I really need to do something similar but it's supposed to be quite a slog so much kudos to you for completing it!

Think I have a fairy godmother who's a dab hand with mechanics because our car has sprung a leak so it looks like I'm not going out tomorrow. I'll be sad not to catch up with friends but I'm so relieved I won't have to face my first sober night out yet, I'm really not strong enough yet.

jojomo · 13/05/2016 22:47

Groovy glass fuzzy!

Having a clear head and more energy is definitely making me more productive happy hence the funding thing - it was a slog but I felt useful doing it.

Have just binge-watched 3 episodes of The Five on Sky - my new obsession. Think that's the rest of my weekend viewing sorted!!

Night all Angry Bird

SharkSkinThing · 13/05/2016 22:58

Hi! I'm home! I did it! Two Beck's blue and a lime and soda. Had a lovely time and no big deal not drinking (tonight at least!).

The other good thing? I spent less than a tenner! Usually the occasional night out always sees me spending more than everyone as the minute a glass is empty, up I go to the bar. Plus crisps, taxi...

I am hand on heart looking forward to my weekend for the first time in years.

Hope everyone else is OK - loving the groovy glass too, fuzzy!

Night night.

Rosewinehunt71 · 13/05/2016 23:40

Enjoy the hangover free morning Shark and Rose hope you're proud of yourselves

SharkSkinThing · 14/05/2016 06:29

Aw. Happy, how lovely.

I'm sat here on the sofa with DS (5), reading whilst he farts around on the iPad. Normally I'd be shussing him, getting irritated as I'd be hung over. Now he's shussing me as I can't stop talking to him!

Grin
jojomo · 14/05/2016 07:02

Well done rose and shark!

HappySober · 14/05/2016 07:06

Oh God, I know what you mean. There's been a much more chilled out Mum here, I'm engaging with the DC more now which is a terrible thing to admit. I didn't realise how often I'd choose to isolate myself, my poor babies ( they're probably annoyed they're not getting away from me bugging them in reality 😂)

vxa2 · 14/05/2016 07:09

Well done ladies. I'm so glad you not only got through but actually enjoyed yourselves - fantastic. Star
Blimey shark raring to go at 5.30am - talk about clearheaded !! X

SlimCheesy · 14/05/2016 07:27

Sober pompoms Shark and Rose. :) :)

SharkSkinThing · 14/05/2016 07:48

5.30am is the norm around here! But that means a lovely 9pm bedtime - loving falling asleep sober atm!

Happy - yep, same here. But no sense in feeling guilty, I am sure our parenting was perfectly fine. And there's so many more years ahead to enjoy with our kids!

I'm going to treat myself to a massive bunch of blooms today.

Rose, hope you are waking up full of pride! And thanks too JoJo.
