Our lovely mouseface usually starts these threads but I've just noticed that the previous one is almost full, so I'm facing technology and get the next one set up.

Anyone, absolutely anyone, who feels they have a problem with drink is welcome here. Whether you're trying to stop, or cut down a little, whether you've been sober for years, or even if you're too scared even to contemplate what is happening. If you think it will help you to post, or lurk, then please do.

There's often a lot of nonsense and banter, but lots of good sound advice.

And there is always lots of support and care and no judgement.

How old was Joe? He's the perfect example of alcoholism as an illness really isn't he?
It wasn't easy to watch really was it? But stupidly I've been drinking all the way throug watching it and still going. Will stop soon and go to bed

He's 33 elba I felt so bad for them all but still couldn't help but feel a bit frustrated.

I just felt sad for oralie...sounds like she doesn't have anything to replace alcohol with so is scared to stop

Actually think I can relate to that in a much less extreme way

elba as will said, think he was early thirties? I watched it with my mum, and she said (direct quote) ' at least they have shown that alcohol addiction can affect people from all walks of life, they haven't just shown a man with a can'...

Make of that what you will; bearing in mind all I have told you about my mum... But I think she has a point? Or no...

Right babes, I have decided that none of us are going to end up in any of those situations, no matter what crap life chucks at us. I am finishing this glass and then I am going to go for four AF days in a row, until Friday. And then I shall reevaluate.

Yes they have shown different walks of life. They should probably of shown people that drank to less of an extreme but had suffered the health consequences though.

No, not working tomorrow. I will be cheering you on for four AF days, don't think I can join you but going to aim for three non consecutive days instead.

Lightbulb has gone in my bedside light, and I can't be bothered to sort it at this time of night... Just made an unsavoury discovery, puppy has weed on my bed, after I let her sleep with me last night, and even though I changed sheets etc, and sprayed mattress (using the light of my phone no less), I can still smell wee.

Idiot 'boyfriend' keeps calling me. He is drunk. Huh. My life is crap.

Your right will it's a case of dealing with what will kill you first...I'm thinking alcohol (hence my excuse for smoking so much at the moment!)

But there's s little voice in my head that is thinking how much weight I could loose if I stopped drinking and didn't change my eating, and that's entirely the wrong motivation but it's spurred me on on my AF nights so far.

Why can't I just cope with life like a normal person??!!

Another 15 units (probably more If I'm honest) tonight, I'm such a fuck up. Went to eat and ended up devouring s tub of ice cream then getting rid of it again I probably seem like such an attention seeking bitch. Sorry xxx

Morning all, hope we're all ok this morning and ready to attack the week with new vigour. I have guests over for dinner tonight but WILL NOT BE DRINKING.

elba don't dwell on last night just focus on your aim for 3 af nights this week. That's a solid, achievable goal based on what you've already done this month.
