The Brave Babes Battle Bus - Springing Into Some Warmer Weather, Staying Sober Togeher

Mouseface · 30/03/2016 00:05

Hi, tis me, Mouse

Welcome to the Bus. We're delighted to have you here :) Not because if you're new to the Babes you are here for help, but because we welcome every kind of drinker. And for all of the reasons life throws at you.

Those that do drink, those that don't drink and of course those who do but don't want to say just how much..............

We've all had our own personal Groundhog Day , some still are and don't want to remain trapped in the same cycle day in, day out, and some still are and want to be which is fine and why we're here.

To talk, to listen, to just be us, like you are YOU. You never know, one day you might just want to wake up on a different day? :) There's no judging here, no 'sides.

After all, something made you click on and read this :)

Come say hi! We even do Brew & Cake if you're super quick!!

And if you want to see what we got up to in the last thread, have a look RIGHT HERE

And this is where our adventure began, almost six years ago now!!

ALMOST SIX YEARS AGO...........

Of course it's really hard Will.

If it wasn't, there wouldn't be so many bright, articulate, lovely sounding, capable, hard-working, generous women tapping away on their phones / computers on a random Tuesday night!

Tonight I am not struggling. But I have - and I will again. I know that desperate feeling of just needing a drink. And I'm ashamed at the things I've done - and the webs I've woven to get one.

But it IS true. The craving does pass. For a bit at least. Hang on in there. The longing for it won't kill you. It'll make you stronger.

I guess that's what's great about this - some nights different people will be struggling. And those who aren't, can help those who are.

(I'll be needing some support soon, I'm pretty certain).

Bloodybloodyhell · 12/04/2016 21:49

Cross-post Will! Well done x

Rarity75 · 12/04/2016 21:49

Well done will
I'm heading to bed with a book and some mints.
Ironing will have to wait another day I'm shattered and need a cave.
Will change the sheets though Grin

WillAndDisgrace · 12/04/2016 21:52

Well I hope I can return the favour when and if needed..

WillAndDisgrace · 12/04/2016 21:53

Night rarity Smile

Rarity75 · 12/04/2016 21:54

Night will thanks for chatting x

ClaretAndBlue30 · 12/04/2016 21:55

rarity I did hear about knit and natter groups, I expect there'll be one nearby - might look into it once I've got started.

will ah of course; I can completely see your point (my dh fortunately doesn't drink wine, which is my nemesis) Huge huge well done for putting it back in the fridge. Maybe stock up on polo mints for tomorrow! I've got a hankering for them now....

bloody agreed. I could easily struggle tomorrow; or the next day, or the next. The witch is a bitch and she'll bite at any time, out of the blue and with avengence.

For now though it's day 2 done and I'm off to bed. Well done you incredible ladies, you give me strength Flowers

Rarity75 · 12/04/2016 21:57

Night claret and Flowers to you too!

dementedma · 12/04/2016 21:57

No etiquette on this bus!
We do have a thing called the drill for when the wind witch strikes. Put pjs on ( makes it more of an effort to go to the shop)
clean your teeth( mint makes booze taste awful), go to bed. Stay there. Bite the pillow if needs be but ride it out minute by minute? It really does fademif you can get through. I had one glass earleir before going to get DD - both sat in silence in car on way home!. Thought I would have another glass when I got in but have done teeth and am in bed. Am fed up with my kids not helping round the house and angry with myself for not making them do it and taking the line of least resistance. Feck. They're not kids. They're adults! Feeling a bit useless parent tonight. They need to help me more and I still act like a drudge instead of squaring up to them.

dementedma · 12/04/2016 21:58

Wine witch, not wind witch, although she strikes too. The sidecar can be pungent at times.

Rarity75 · 12/04/2016 22:00

Grin wind witch lol!
Thanks for the drill instructions I can see they will be needed in the near future.
Good luck with kids situation, not easy.
Night ma

WillAndDisgrace · 12/04/2016 22:10

Not sure what to suggest there ma, the only thing that works for me is the naughty step and insure your dd wouldn't appreciate that. Thanks for the drill though...I doing that now.

WillAndDisgrace · 12/04/2016 22:12

Maybe you could have a talk with her tomorrow when things have calmed. Maybe you could do a sort of contract for her ie what you expect and in return sort of thing?

ClaretAndBlue30 · 12/04/2016 22:12

Grinwind witch

dementedma · 12/04/2016 22:22

Night rarity sleep well
Wonder if socfish still lurks. She used to drive the night bus for us all.

Elba84 · 12/04/2016 22:38

Just got home. Desperately need a shower so will catch up with the thread and post properly in a minute (you'll probably all be in bed by then Grin )

Have some alcohol free shandy and ginger beer, and some diazepam if desperate though probably won't take it. Really not going to drink tonight (was going to post try not to but that gives a get out clause!)

Hope everyone's ok, haven't read back yet x

WillAndDisgrace · 12/04/2016 22:58

I'm still up (not sure how long for though)

Elba84 · 12/04/2016 23:12

Hey will how are you doing? (Still not read back yet). I should probably go to bed soon too (most likely won't though, I fight it like a toddler!).

ClaretAndBlue30 · 12/04/2016 23:26

Hi elba!! All ok here....been in bed for an hour or so but DD has just woken up so been up with her.

well done on your af night; you sound determined. You'll feel so good tomorrow.

I'd stay up but need to sleep in case my daughter has other ideas!!

Bloodybloodyhell · 12/04/2016 23:43

Good decision Elba. Common consensus on here tonight, seems to be:

  1. Clean teeth.
  2. PJs on.
  3. Get into bed.
No passing go, no collecting £200. Read a book, listen to the radio, Get some sleep. You'll be thrilled with yourself in the morning. Night all X
Tangfastics · 13/04/2016 04:32

Yes, it's nothing but juice for 5 days!

It's Jason Vale's 5lbs in 5 days programme.

ClaretAndBlue30 · 13/04/2016 07:05

How did it go elba?

Jason vale is great - the juices are yummy. But it is tough so don't be too harsh on yourself if you want something solid to eat tangfastic! Was it advised by the doctor or are you just wanting a complete detox?

Morning All Lovely Brave Babes Smile

I've past my one year anniversary!!!!!!! today is Day 379 Grin , not drunk 31 cases of wine Shock and I feel amazing
Funny old birthday (30 March) first sober birthday since I was about 12 Shock it was all a bit 'flat' but I've done it and I'm fucking proud Grin So I have spent my 48th year with no booze, and here's to my 49th.
I promise all of you, it does get easier. I spent over a year trying to get passed Day 3 (3 was my killer - I've done 2 days now I need a reward) On my bday a year ago I got absolutely hammered and I woke up the next day and just thought 'I can't keep doing this' so I set myself a 100 day challenge. I am also terrified of the 'not drinking forever' train of thought.
The biggest help for me (other than this wonderful bus) was 'watch the film through to the end' this was the key for me. I know I have no 'off' button, moderating for me is a complete No No, impossible for me! I am like many of you an all or nothing girl Smile
So I think we should have a party on Friday night? what do you think babes? (April thank you)

Marisfa so so good to see you lovely

Ma I hope you can get your feelings across to DD1. I have also been thinking of Socfish recently

Soc if you're reading please come and say hello, you were an intergral part of me getting sober, you were my inspiration Flowers

There are so many new Babes and I just want to say - keep going, one day at a time, distract, distract, distract & please put the money away that you don't spend on booze (I really wish I'd done this) and treat yourself Smile

Wry great to see you back in the fold. I love reading your posts x

Baby how are you honey x

I can't remember (d'oh) who has done 7 years sober, Bloody well done Flowers that is an awesome achievement x

Sweet darling be kind to yourself x

Isinde Flowers

Beaches sunflower, sending you loads of hugs x

No Etiquette what so ever

Run out of time, got to get DDs up. Have a good day everyone. Today I will not be drinking Grin
Shoulders back, Tits out and don't let the bastards get you down Flowers

WillAndDisgrace · 13/04/2016 08:17

spanna I'm doing a Pom Pom famve for you! That's fantastic! I'm doing the tits and teeth today too!
I WILL NOT BE DRINKING!!!

I hope all you lovely babes are sleeping well, and thank again for pulling me in line last night,,,,seems silly now but when that urge is there it's sooooo strong!

Anyway, I'm getting ds ready for play school (he got I'm my bed this morning with his 4 favourite teddy's and made them all day good morning to me) dropping him there at 9:15 and getting him at 4:30....I love him dearly but I do love my one whole child free day!

Onwards and upwards babes and WE WILL NOT BE DRINKING!! Brew

WillAndDisgrace · 13/04/2016 08:17
