Good on you, Nomore let Bear stew in his own non-committal juices for the time being. Smile H sounds like he deserves your full attention for now. Have another lovely snog date. Rain coat a necessary evil methinks. Know exactly what you mean about the overlap, potential-casual guy gives the impression he is very intelligent, proper job (already checked that out and verified online) and slim/nice looking, we talked about some stuff in common. He isn't looking for a relationship. And wants to do similar activities to me. I am just afraid he might be full on/a bit predatory as he says he left his marriage due to his 'very high' sex drive. Slight klaxon there but I am considering meeting to suss him out. Can't decide if I've gone mad even thinking it... But I'm not exactly tripping over myself with potential dates......

tanyadm · 01/01/2016 18:30

Don't think I have ever been in the frame of mind for casual, and it isn't, for me, compatible with my family life.

TS describes himself as having been resolved to batchelor life and realising he was increasingly lonely. Think he is a bit of a high achiever, academically and professionally, but has maybe neglected his personal life.

Still beautiful, lengthy, thoughtful messages coming my way. Like a lot.

HandyWoman · 01/01/2016 18:35

He does sound lovely, tanyadm - you really need to meet soon, or the fantasy TS will get ingrained........ Are you able to meet this week? Will you suggest it?

NoMore314 · 01/01/2016 18:41

He sounds lovely tanyadm.

Resigned to bachelor life is how i feel too. Im on the bus now. Took the rain mac off. :-p

Thanks all! Definitely some good points to remember. I'm not sure I believe the "online today" feature either. I'm actually not really holding my breath on this whole OLD thing. I think it will be good for a bit of fun and possibly some chat but not expecting anything of it.

I've signed up for POF (I don't want to do one I need to pay for). Is OKC any good? I've considered Tinder but a friend of mine said it's a completely different experience and she found that most guys on there were looking for hookups.

She just got herself a bf from POF though, and this one seems nice. So there's one success story at least!

tanyadm · 01/01/2016 19:05

Good luck 314!

I'm far too much of a newbie to know how much messaging is the norm. I had four hours last night, and four long messages today, including remembering that Sherlock is my absolute priority tonight...

I am trying to figure out how and when to suggest an actual date...he is due a message back to me...

HandyWoman · 01/01/2016 19:08

I've said in the past 'let me know if you want to meet up' ........ sounds kinda I'm passing yet gives you the info you need.

HandyWoman · 01/01/2016 19:08

Actually I think I worded it: let me know if you are interested in meeting up.

tanyadm · 01/01/2016 19:12

I will leave any reply until after Sherlock, after which I will have had sufficient Prosecco to suggest meeting!

TooSassy · 01/01/2016 19:27

Oooo. Lots of catching up. His thread moves fast!!!

nomore have a lovely date! Report back!!!

choccy am a little Shock at Rugby. Is there anyway you can find out more via the mutual friends??? It is possible they are separated, how recent are the pics???

I'm not sure in ever going to have time to do OLD at this rate. I think a touch in message once every few days early on works just fine for me. Can't be arsed spending hours messaging people. I just don't have the time. Pilot gave me his number but I'll wait til my travel is booked before booking a bite to eat in with him (although his whatsapp pic is rather lush)

I may just live vicariously via y'all and move at my old lady pace. Grin

Laura2006 · 01/01/2016 19:39

Hello everyone. Haven't posted on this thread yet but have been following all of your dating stories.

I recently started OD again after a very unimpressive experience a few months ago. I tried OkCupid but it wasn't good in my area and have been having more luck with Tinder (although I only swipe right to the men who seem like they want relationships rather than fun.)

Matched with a man that I really fancied from his photos (rare for me!) and we chatted for a while. I've nicknamed him Mr Golfer as he plays golf professionally. We got on really well, moved to WhatsApp, he was full of compliments, wished me a Happy New Year last night and texted me this morning to ask if I had a good evening. But now it's gone cold - not a peep since about 9am this morning. Usually he's a frequent texter throughout the day and his WhatsApp says he's been online and seen the message. Really hope he doesn't just stop talking to me as this seems to happen a lot with me and OD. They seem to be lovely then just stop messaging Sad I try not to get too invested in things because of this but it's not often I get hopeful about someone these days!

choccyfiend78 · 01/01/2016 19:50

The last pics are of s newborn in October!! He has never mentioned anything about previous relationships!! Will message the contacts and see if they know anything but really annoying as I thought this one was ok!! Xx

tanyadm · 01/01/2016 19:53

True, I won't have time for marathon messaging sessions once I'm back at work.... Got to sort a RL date. Later. After wine.

tanyadm · 01/01/2016 20:12

That does not sound good, Choccy.

I was surprised, perhaps naively, how many people on OKC are completely open about being married or in relationships, or claim to be poly.
