Hello, tis me, Mouse

Welcome to the Bus. It's a Bus full of drinkers, non-drinkers, occasional slurpers, sneaky sippers, we're all a very different bunch but we ALL have the same thing in common.

Alcohol.

We all have a story or two to tell, we have all been through some terrible times, some more than others and we all have our reasons for drinking or even not. Smile

The one true wonderful thing about this Bus is that we don't do judging!! We're all on a even playing field, no matter what has brought us to this thread.

So, if you'd like to talk, then talk. If you want to lurk and see how we work for a while, that's cool too :)

The Bus is never full, there's always is room for YOU.

And, if you'd like to see what started this off, amost good 5 years ago now, have a look at A TRULY AWESOME HEARTFELT THEAD HERE

And our last thread is just here too for those who would like some more history THIS IS WHERE WE'VE JUST BEEN

Hope to see you soon :) xxx

Is that you faire ?

Eggynuff · 03/04/2015 00:21

Ooops, yes it's me. Forgot to say I'm in my Easter garb.

spanna41 · 03/04/2015 07:17

Morning all Easter Smile

I hope you are all ok. Day 4 for me today and I'm going to work Easter Sad DD2 is coming with me and will probably hide in my office all day, as she's decided she doesn't like old people, they scare her Easter Confused

Joey big hugs to you this morning, hope you're ok honey. Your post made me lol - can't say I feel the same about my wee and asparagus Easter Grin Do you fancy an AF day today? Have a good one whatever you're up to Flowers

Nuff loving your Easter themed name. Not surprised your DD is confused after last nights debate, I think the whole of the UK is too. Have a good day Babe.

Didn't struggle with WW yesterday, but it is now Friday and always a weak spot for me. Overcast and drizzly here on the south coast but I prefer to go to work when it's like this than bright blue skies & sunshine. Right I will cease yabbering on.

Hugs and positive days for you all Flowers

SweetLathyrus · 03/04/2015 07:29

Morning All, Morning Spanna, we've got the same weather just inland, which means a day of wiping muddy (but still cute) paws. Hope DD2 sees the're not so scary by the end of the day.

Speaking of scary (and moving), did anyone see Inside Number 9 on BBC 2 last night? Worth a look on I-Players when the little ones are in bed - if you're into Pemberton and Shearsmith's sensibility.

Love the name-change Faire / Eggy.

Are you ok this morning Joey?

It's lovely to wake-up fresh, and not to resent the 6am start while everyone else sleeps.

Maintaining my usual Bank Holiday grinchiness, I feel very smug not to be traveling - will be complaining a LOT about bloody caravans from now until Autumn though. DS is off to France on Sunday, but he does it every year, and Easter Sunday is always quiet.

Have a lovely day everyone.

Stellar67 · 03/04/2015 07:50

Morning, I had two large reds last night. Day went badly and then those idiots on the tv last night made me angry. But today is a new day. Although it is Friday....and I didn't drink over a bottle.

SweetLathyrus · 03/04/2015 08:05

Stella, moderating is a good start - there's three or four units you didn't drink, but it is a very rare (impressive) person who can maintain a moderate level amongst those of us who have a problem relationship with alcohol.

You need to look at that cue - the "day went badly", we all do that one, but I also do "the day went well" - have a drink to celebrate; ""I'm tired" - have a drink to wind down; "I'm awake" -oh damn it, just have a drink!

Being on the bus has helped me not just to identify those triggers, but to deal with them mindfully. i ask myself why I want a drink, and can I do something else instead, even if only for half an hour.

Sorry if that's a bit finger waggy - I don't mean to be, and I'm certainly not judging, I've swigged far to many multiple bottles for that. But if it was important enough for you to take that first brave step and join us, then it's important to look at your own motivations.

Give AF Friday a go, drinking on a Friday just steals the happy, bright weekend from yourself Easter Smile.

Stellar67 · 03/04/2015 08:32

Sweet you are right. Thank you. I suppose I am congratulating myself for not going bananas when I should be looking at triggers.
Thank you.

Stellar67 · 03/04/2015 08:33

I plan a AF Friday. I want to be fresh on Saturday.

guggenheim · 03/04/2015 08:43

Sheesh.

AM going to have an af day today. Life has been tough but sinking stupid quantities of red isn't helping.

Will be back at 7,which is bottle opening time. Today I will have some fizzy tonic water and my meditation app instead.
will be here and biting own hand but not drinking

Have no idea what has been happening on thread but I expect that you are all as mad as a box of frogs,as usual...

Easter Smile
Rubyredlips · 03/04/2015 08:54

Morning all. Hope you enjoy your days, it's wet and grey here so will be doing anindoor activity.

Sweet I saw last week's Inside Number 9 and loved it (although gross too) will prob watch this week's tonight. Did you enjoy it?

Anyone been watching Ordinary Lies? I love it - kind of rubbish but good iyswim.

NoAprilFool · 03/04/2015 09:33

Wise words sweet

I'm new to this (day 3) so still kidding myself that I can become a moderate drinker. It's probably unlikely.

I told DH last night that I was thinking of knocking the wine on the head for a bit, expecting resistance or reassurance that I don't drink that much. He just agreed. That was another wake up call.

Have a good Good Friday folks!

SweetLathyrus · 03/04/2015 09:38

gugs, good to see you back.

Ruby we obviously share a taste in TV, I'm enjoying Oridinary Lies even though I feel I shouldn't! Loved the no 9 on the train, last nights is very different, not so gross, but very good.

Stella is there a particular time that the wine witch whispers to you? For me it's between 4 & 6 pm, if I can get through PM on Radio 4 without a glass, I'm safe for the evening, and as you can see, the witching hour for Gugs is 7pm. You should make sure you come and post then, someone will be around to help you through it.

Today is day 10 for me, plus the 74 days at the beginning of the year. My purse is benefitting, my skin, sleep, waistline and mood are all better than this time last year.

SweetLathyrus · 03/04/2015 09:41

April, although I already knew I had a problem, it was DH actually noticing and commenting that finally shocked me into a more committed sobriety. I know how that not disagreeing feels too. Are you noticing any differences yet? You might get really bad skin for a while as all those toxins drain away.

NoAprilFool · 03/04/2015 09:43

I'm not really seeing any difference yet, but I've got a cold, eye infection and a poorly toddler so it's possibly expecting a bit much!

SweetLathyrus · 03/04/2015 09:50

A perfect storm! It would be even worse with a hangover!

NoAprilFool · 03/04/2015 10:09

That's a very good point! Easter Grin

babyjane1 · 03/04/2015 10:41

Good morning babes,

Just a quick hello, still excercising and eating kinda well but my fridge/freezer died a few days ago so I'm shopping day to day and there's a lot of temptation out there, not to mention lots of lovely Easter wines!!!

Holidays will be very stressful but thanks to crèche and the gym I will survive !!!! Dd2 is not going to sleep until between 10 and 11pm, it's really getting us all down as there's no down time and it seems a 4 year old runs the household. I'm going to try to use the holidays to rectify this, most days she is with me from the minute I wake up (by her) and til she goes to sleep (I fall asleep too).

I also need to massive throw away some stuff, I want a neat, tidy, pretty but functional home, sometimes it's like a Chinese laundry, there's clothes everywhere so that's my plans for a productive AF Easter.....

Haven't read back but will do after the gym, luv y'all xxxx

SweetLathyrus · 03/04/2015 12:13

That's exhausting, Baby, but you are looking after yourself and that will help you cope with her, and everything else.

NoAprilFool · 03/04/2015 12:47

Well done on squeezing in the gym, baby, it sounds like you've got lots on your plate.
Hope the fridge situation is sorted soon, what a pain!

BafanaThesober · 03/04/2015 12:59

Afternoon all,
Just thought I would drop by and wish everyone a happy Easter.
I was a bus member for a wee while 4 years ago.
And like socfish, have tried to move away from mumsnet and focussing on alcohol in general. I am now 4 years and 4 months sober. Life is still shit sometimes, but in the main it's fab. And definitely without a shadow of all doubt better because I don't drink.
Sometimes that's hard, but mostly it's just the way I now live. People are really accepting of the fact I don't drink, (actually - I am really accepting) and people who aren't can fuck right off Grin.

Enjoy your Easter everyone. And if I can jump off the drinking merry go round, you can too!! I promise! It's hard but certainly possible, and worth it more than the wine witch would ever want you to know.

Take care

dementedma · 03/04/2015 13:05

bafana great to see you again. God, has it been that long. I'm ashamed to say I'm still here..
guggs good to see you again too.

joey yes, in uniform Grin. Can't decide if I like them better in mess dress when they look so dashingly gorgeous, or in combats when they look so rugged and erm, capable......

Is it me, or is it hot on this bus???

SweetLathyrus · 03/04/2015 13:35

Lovely of you to stop by, Bafana

That's a tough choice, Ma, think I'd go for dashing Easter Grin

SweetLathyrus · 03/04/2015 13:38

Look at what I just got out of the blue, from a friend who hadn't known I'd been ill.
