My brother has gone missing

He went out to work yesterday morning and didn't turn up. My mum got at phone call from them at 10am asking where he was. He's 26 and lives at home, but is v shy and reserved person, def not a 'lad'. He's now been out all night and my parents have called the police. They are both so worried and I feel so far away from them right now .

That's it really...

Agree, keep on at the police at all costs!

runkid · 04/10/2006 22:26

Any news keep us posted

fussymummy · 05/10/2006 00:13

Keep thinking of you, and hoping your brother has returned.
Maybe he has gone away, not realising all the upset he's left behind!!

Is he the sort of person who'd just get up and go without any warning???

Or is he the sort who'd always say where he's going???

Hope he comes back soon.

Keep your strength up, you need to be able to care for your little one.

You and your family are in my thoughts and prayers...wishing time passes quickly for you all...and your brother is soon, home safe.

makemineadouble · 05/10/2006 06:56

any news?

heavenis · 05/10/2006 07:55

Sending positive vibes your way. I hope you get some good news today.

maewest · 05/10/2006 09:16

No further news, but will speak to my parents later. Thanks for the suggestion with the hotmail, will go and try that

And he doesn't have a mobile unfortunately. We have been in touch with all sorts of people, including his old boss, who said that my brother had been the best employee he'd ever had! My mum has been very impressed by the police, said they were being very thorough.

My brother is quiet and hardworking, the main things in his life are work and Stevenage Boro FC, he lives with my parents. No girlfriends as far as we know. He's not really a drinker, just the odd beer after the match. He is a really lovely kind human being, and was really excited about becoming an uncle. This is why this is so unlike him, he's not very good at talking about his feelings, but we didn't realise that he felt so bad.

Apologies for long post, and thank you to everyone who has made practical suggestions or just been supportive.

xx

Have you/your parents spoken to the Salvation Army? I know they do an awful lot for missing people etc.

My brother always says No news is Good News and he vanishes for months at a time.

Just read through this thread. Any news? I really hope that you and your parents hear something soon. It must be a truly terrible time. x

maewest · 05/10/2006 13:28

heavenis - no luck so far with hotmail, my other brother has been trying, but the prompt question is a bit cryptic. We don't want to change the password obv. As far as we know my brother took nothing with him, other than what he would normally take to work. Our neighbour's daughter was the last person to see him on Monday morning, she saw him walking along our road when she was driving to work.

The police called me this morning and asked me to let them know if he turned up here.

ledodgywizardrobespierre · 05/10/2006 13:32

Have the police checked his bank account to see if he's drawn any money out from hole in the walls etc?

ggg - yes, this is what police think, also ithink that he may be worried about coming home because my parents would be angry, which is far from the truth

Maewest, how dreadful for you all. So hoping he turns up safe and well soon.
I saw Israel posting further down the thread. I seem to recall she had a similar awful experience a while ago. How are things now Israel?
