The Brave Babes Battle Bus - A New Year, A New YOU!

Mouseface · 11/01/2014 21:38

New Year Resolutions Anyone?

Welcome one and all, I'm Mouse, nice to meet YOU. :)

This is a thread for those who want to give up drink completely, or are maybe thinking about doing controlled drinking, or cutting down slowly, it's all up to you.

You know your limits, you know what is required, it's in YOUR hands.

Whatever your goal, you'll find unconditional support here. Always.

There will be talk of drinking quite often and those who fall off the Bus will post about it, so if that is going to jeopardise your chances of complete sobriety, then maybe the DRY threads would suit you better, as they are complete abstainers, but EVERYONE IS WELCOME HERE :)

There are no hard and fast rules, other than the support here is unconditional, it may be in the form of tough love at times, but it's always meant with the very best of intentions.

There are two sayings that we rather like here -

    • The Vulnerable Need Our Support, Not Our Judgement
    • Alcohol Fosters Inertia

For those of you who'd like some history, here is the very first thread and the reason that we're all here now. FIRST THREAD

And here is the lastest thread, which you can scroll back through to see the other JOURNEYS SO FAR

The Bus may be 'mythical', but the support is real, it is honest and it will help you to achieve what it is that you seek, as long as you are honest with us, but mostly, YOURSELF

See you soon. x

Baby how did the ballet go, did DD2 enjoy it?

It's I get the 'wake ups' in the night and can't get to sleep. I put it down to things on my mind and not being in my usual comatozed state that wine would bring. have you tried a malt drink before bed, they don't work that well for me, some swear by them. I hope you get a good sleep tonight Smile

Why how are you Babe?

Fairenuff · 12/01/2014 18:59

Hey ma you did 10 days. 10 days! That's a third of a month. After your birthday why don't you push the boat out and do 11 days maybe?

Im you would cope. As long as you and children are safe, you will be fine. And you have us x

beachestoexplore · 12/01/2014 19:02

Hi Im Smile. First, really well done for not drinking. I think the reasons you turned down the refuge are valid. Are there 7 or 8 of you? (sketchy memory at the best of times). This does not suggest you don't care but that you were scared of managing with all your children, in new and alien surroundings. Pretty normal I would think especially if you were given the idea that holding on a bit longer may have meant going straight into a new house,(which he won't be allowed to know?) which would seem less stressful for the children. Hopefully this will happen very, very soon babe. Best of luck with tomorrow honey xx

Spanna might have! setting my sights on the yellows next Grin

spanna41 · 12/01/2014 19:06

Xposts with Beaches and I'm sorry Babes

Beaches good day here, cooked roast chicken and all trimmings. A friend and her son came over (she is a drinking buddy) she came with soft drinks and we had a really nice afternoon. What is a geocaching trip? new one on me?

I'm well done for AF today, means you'll have a much clearer head for tomorrow x

spanna41 · 12/01/2014 19:09

Beaches I'm afraid I have all the yellow ones to Smurfette and she's scoffed the lot, just as I've scoffed all the green ones. Will a biscuit suffice? Grin

spanna41 · 12/01/2014 19:09

have meant to say gave

beachestoexplore · 12/01/2014 19:16

A biscuit? Oh go on then Grin

Geocaching is like a treasure hunt where you follow GPS coordinates to find the 'cache' - a box where you sign to say you found it and leave/trade a trinket. They are all over the world and all hidden outside. There is a website where you can get all the info and coordinates. Right up our street Smile

GeordieCherry · 12/01/2014 19:16

So impressed by the AF days you are all racking up. Well done!

Today was another AF day for me.

Tomorrow I will be having wine as it's a pre-arranged thing. I'm going to do what I did on Friday though & treat the bottle like a batch of pancakes; throw the first (glass) away. That probably seems completely daft to some, but once I'm a few glasses in it'll be too late & I'd just finish it

Hoping everyone has restful nights Thanks

beachestoexplore · 12/01/2014 19:18

The website is not called right up our street Blush it is geocaching.com. Grin

spanna41 · 12/01/2014 19:19

Geordie sounds like you've got it all under control, well done for AF today and your pancake plan x

Beaches sounds like really good fun Smile will look up on tinterweb later on. Glad the weather's toned itself down a bit x

SweetLathyrus · 12/01/2014 19:22

Ma, I'm only lucky I have a Summer birthday so I don't have to think about it just yet, could you give up again for the days inbetween pre-birthday and birthday?

Anne did DH bring home wine? 12 days is brilliant, hope you resisted! On Friday my DH phoned me at work to ask if I had any wine in the house because he fancied white instead of red - I had, there were/are still two cases from Christmas. By the time I got home, not only had he drunk 2/3 of the bottle, he had the nerve to have enough control just to stop at that. I've put it out of sight and told him he HAS to finish it.

Geocaching sounds fun, Beaches

Not long now Im, good luck for tomorrow.

My productive day didn't end there, Spanna, nice dinner cooked, lunch for tomorrow prepared, photos edited for ds" art project, more washing(!), prep for work tomorrow . . . and still time for Sherlock tonight - without falling asleep or losing the plot!

beachestoexplore · 12/01/2014 19:25

Hi Geordie Smile I am like you - once I had start the bottle I am very likely to finish it. I really like your idea of throwing the first glass away and reducing the amount to start with.

spanna41 · 12/01/2014 19:33

OMG Sweet now steady on... wear that with pride Babe Grin

beachestoexplore · 12/01/2014 19:45

Shock Sweet there is no stopping you today!

SweetLathyrus · 12/01/2014 19:53

Why thank you Spanna how do I look?

spanna41 · 12/01/2014 19:55

Sweet you look amazing Babe, love the pouts Grin

spanna41 · 12/01/2014 19:59

Beaches I keep all our washing piles of clean clothes in our spare room with the door permanently shut. I don't iron at all, not since giving up office work to do creative stuff, doesn't matter if everything is crinkled Grin

SweetLathyrus · 12/01/2014 20:03

And since ds just spilled fish flakes all over his bedroom floor you can add vacuuming to the activities!

I've come quite late to "If no one can see it, doesn't matter if it's crinkled" - used to iron EVERYTHING Hmm, just folding is rather liberating, Beaches

beachestoexplore · 12/01/2014 20:13

Spanna I hope the new pad has a clean washing pile spare room or you may need an ornate room divider thing Grin

Sweet you ironed knickers and tea towels too didn't you? My mum loves ironing and her towels are a mixture between cardboard and sandpaper (but strangely nice to dry with) I, however, have often folded my ironing pile straight into drawers when it got too big Grin

SweetLathyrus · 12/01/2014 20:17

Guilty as charged, Beaches Blush

beachestoexplore · 12/01/2014 20:23

Grin Grin Grin

spanna41 · 12/01/2014 20:26

it's the journey from being clean in a pile to the drawers that I have a mental block with, I just want all the washing to grow legs when I'm asleep and to make it's own way into all of our drawers. New pad will have no spare room so I will need to address this pile before we move - it is out of control!! Just like the hoards of paperwork, art stuff, oh the list is endless, speaking of new pad I'm looking at more properties this week, as I don't trust this agent I want the mentioned house through Sad So hopefully I'll see something that we like Hmm

Just looked at that website Beaches looks like really good fun, I was surprised there are loads of groups doing it here locally. Just had a go at decrypting some messages, fun Grin I think I'd find it quite addictive and get slightly obsessed Smile

SoberSocFish · 12/01/2014 20:33

Morning babes. Monday here. Kicking the WW into space today. I will not drink today. Hope you're all doing well. Soc x

beachestoexplore · 12/01/2014 20:36

I don't relate to the obsessive/addictive tendencies at all . I am very new to it but it is a great way to get the dog and boys out on a mission.

I think it is a good idea to look around a bit more, just to have a bit of a back up plan incase the first house stalls. I will keep my fingers crossed that either you see something better or things start moving on first one. X

Ps, if you ever do manage to persuade the washing to put itself away please, please share Smile

Hope everyone else ok tonight x

Oh, hi soc got a bit of a stutter this morning? Smile
