The Brave Babes Battle Bus - Travelling Far And Wide, With Sobriety In Mind.

Mouseface · 04/09/2013 15:02

Welcome to the Bus one and all! I'm Mouse, one of the Brave Babes :)

We have a new line that we're taking with us on every journey, thanks to one of our wonderful Babes, Curry -

Alcohol Fosters Inertia.

So when you're drinking excessively, nothing changes, or improves, the sharp edges of our lives just becomes that little bit less in focus, blurred and all you feel is numb. Then like shit (emotionally, as well as physically) if you're honest! Who wants that?

You are only ever better/pacified/happy whilst the alcohol is in your system. And that doesn't last........... it's not a cure, it's a quick fix. A sticking plaster.

So, if you think you're drinking too much, and want some friendly advice, or just to come and have a chat, get to know others who are just like you, who won't judge or criticise you, then hop on board! :)

We're a really mixed bunch and all at different stages of our journey to find sobriety or certainly drinking in a more controlled, less dangerous way.

And, if you'd like to see where we've been so far, have a look at the links below :)

And mouse

dementedma · 06/09/2013 20:52

Well done this

Fairenuff · 06/09/2013 21:27

So proud of you This Smile

Ma I think eggs are good for breakfast? And bacon. Grilled tomatoes too probably. Mushrooms?

Mouse I sometimes do a nice roast pork or something and then just have the meat and salad, homemade coleslaw, beetroot, that kind of thing. Make a lovely change from veg. Especially when it's so warm outside and I don't want to be standing over the hot stove for ages. Bung the meat in and walk away. Easy peasy Smile

Mouseface · 06/09/2013 21:35

Just popping in to say goodnight lovely Babes

Ma - the first 2 weeks are the strictest, I've slackened off a bit as I can't stomach natural yoghurt morning, noon and night...

It's about learning what the lowest carb foods are and having a good, varied mix of them and remembering - just like here that if you fuck up, start again the next meal or day :) xx

Faire - sounds yummy!!

THIS THIS THIS!!!!

Over here, I'm waving banners and pom poms and cheering, and whooping for you!!! What a star you are! YOU ARE A STAR!!!!

I think I might be having a really proud of you 'mum/big sister' type moment here.... :)

I love this Bus xxx

Bus shudders to a halt, Ladame gets on and goes to sit in the sidecar next to Ma and Inde. Hi everyone!

babyjane1 · 07/09/2013 09:04

Morning all, well dh and I still not talking but last night instead of drinking I went for a swim, sauna and jacuzzi, never got home til 9 and felt great. I'm having to learn all over again that life is tough, people are often cruel and unkind and I'm not a doormat. I reckon my dh and dd's are so used to getting their own way that my new "I'm better than this " persona is causes ripples in their spoilt little worlds. My greatest flaw is I'm rudicilously sensitive, I truly believe that's what led me to the ww in the first place so
I'm finding it hard to deal with any level of conflict but everyone around me is used to getting their own way often to my detriment so I lost myself in a swirl of wine. Needing advice, I cannot stop eating biscuits and sugar, I woke up And have sugary coffee with buttery toast and jam then I'm l

babyjane1 · 07/09/2013 09:07

I'm looking for a biscuit. I've never had a sweet tooth before and I'm really really wanting to lose weight so does anyone know of a biscuit or vitamin supplement that will lessen the craving. I thought after a month the sugar craving would ease off, I'm even getting up during the night to eat a biscuit!! Any advice babes??? Xxx

omghelpneeded · 07/09/2013 09:22

Hi baby - swim sauna and jacuzzi sound really lovely way to spend fri evening. Im going to take example from that! Also looking for waterproof ipod cover mentioned by someone earlier - ideal forvevening swims. I am so enjoying clear headvand positive feelings on this rainy saturday! Im going to change to more positive name given the overwhelming mood improvement that im getting from day 4 af. Havent decided on new namebyet though.

dementedma · 07/09/2013 09:29

Moselle sometimes a slap with a wet squid does the trick and sometimes its better to talk. Whats your trigger babe and can we help?

Busy day ahead - catch up later

dementedma · 07/09/2013 09:35

baby meant to say you have it spot on. The resentment when u move from doormat to carving out some life for your self is immense. I could write pages on this! You will find all your good intentions sabotaged with neediness - do NOT give in. Fight for time for yourself to be your own person. Fight tooth and nail ....your independence and self belief are vital. Do not let the needs of others suck the life out of you and drive you into the waiting arms of the wine witch.

omghelpneeded · 07/09/2013 09:50

Ps I havnt any useful advice on sugar cravings atm im sitting eating strong coffee and cake!

Anneisnotmyname · 07/09/2013 10:10

baby I think chromium (not sure if I've spelt that right) supplements can help with suger cravings.

Fairenuff · 07/09/2013 10:17

If the sugar cravings haven't subsided after a month, maybe it's nothing to do with drink, maybe it's something else. Perhaps you should check with your gp baby?

omg good idea to change your name to a more positive one Smile

Thisis lovely to hear you sounding so chipper. Enjoy it, it's great to wake up feeling like this and after only 3 days too. You can do it. You are doing it!

Ladame how was your holiday?

babyjane1 · 07/09/2013 10:19

Morning OMG I have the waterproof case and it's amazing, it's so cool to listen to your fave tunes while swimming under water, just remember don't try to sing like I did cos you'll CHOKE!!!!xxx you sound so so upbeat, it's made me smile, I told you a few days AF changes everything. Anyone lurking please take note, what a difference a few days can make, name change and everything xxxx

Ladame · 07/09/2013 10:33

Hi Faire very nice thanks, just a short break and happily didn't overdo it on the wine Grin I do need to lose a few pounds and am thinking of joining the low carb thingy. Isinde Can this be right? have you been eating (real) cheese? Baby well done for not being derailed last night! Mouse been reading about Nemo, fantastic that he is ok going to big school Grin Ma I will categorically state that it is in fact Spirit the Dog who is causing the slight list to the side and not me and the cheese-eating Liverpudlian. Well, not me anyway Wink
