The Brave Babes Battle Bus - Travelling Far And Wide, With Sobriety In Mind.

1000 replies

Mouseface · 04/09/2013 15:02

Welcome to the Bus one and all! I'm Mouse, one of the Brave Babes :)

We have a new line that we're taking with us on every journey, thanks to one of our wonderful Babes, Curry -

Alcohol Fosters Inertia.

So when you're drinking excessively, nothing changes, or improves, the sharp edges of our lives just becomes that little bit less in focus, blurred and all you feel is numb. Then like shit (emotionally, as well as physically) if you're honest! Who wants that?

You are only ever better/pacified/happy whilst the alcohol is in your system. And that doesn't last........... it's not a cure, it's a quick fix. A sticking plaster.

So, if you think you're drinking too much, and want some friendly advice, or just to come and have a chat, get to know others who are just like you, who won't judge or criticise you, then hop on board! :)

We're a really mixed bunch and all at different stages of our journey to find sobriety or certainly drinking in a more controlled, less dangerous way.

And, if you'd like to see where we've been so far, have a look at the links below :)

THE STARTING POINT AND WHY WE'RE ALL HERE

Unhappytimes · 26/09/2013 07:28

Hi all, not drunk but today will be the first day of test for me really - weekend starts early usually. I am not sure if I will ever drink again but a long break is needed.

Mouse I am reading through old threads to stay focused and just read when you joined. You really are an inspiration, I've read your kind words to others many times.

Incider just have to pick yourself up and try again, I'm sure you'll learn from every time you try.

why it's good news you feel things are moving forward. Well done on keeping up the meetings and I'm sure everyone sees how hard you're trying.

Mouseface · 26/09/2013 09:33

Morning, tis me, Mouse

Why - Thanks for all the support here. Maybe soon enough I'll be together enough to start contributing rather than just being a drain on the bus. - Don't EVER worry about that, ever. We have all been the ones to have to post and post and post because of the place that we were in sweetheart. :)

Can I say that when I read your post just now about your boy, seeing him and speaking to your husband, him agreeing that you can talk more and try to sort things out, you proving you are sober and getting more so every day, I actually cried for you.

As I said before, this is a subject close to my heart and to know that you are that next step nearer, closer, you are getting there...... I could burst with pride because of what YOU have done to turn YOUR life around.

Look how far you have come after YOUR FIRST POST, go back, read them, those first few, and look at yourself now.

Stand in front of the nearest mirror, look at your face, your eyes, your skin, it's less puffy, less red, your eyes are brighter and they can see so much more clearly can't they?

You are brilliant, just brilliant.

I am in awe of just how hard you have worked to get your baby back sweetheart. I actually love you a little bit for all you have done, but don't tell anyone! Wink Smile xxx

Thank you for your post Zut :) it's always lovely to read a post from a 'lurker'. I find his story is utterly devastating. Look at what he had? And what he has now.

It's soul destroying to see anyone lose their life like that, let alone someone who's life who has been in the limelight. Sad

Unhappy - thank you so much lovely xxx

Bill - 4 months is great news! Thank you for telling me that! Another post that has made me smile :) xxx

Soc - I keep a list! I'd never bloomin remember you all otherwise Wink It's great news to hear that you've found your place in AA, it sounds as though you have from you very upbeat post! Big hugs and well dones to you sweetie xxx

Faire - you too sound like you're doing fab, so many great posts of late, this Bus is going to be powering itself on Pure Positivity not unleaded from here on in if we keep this up! I love it :)

:)

Right, breakfast, then a billion jobs to do, then hydro and picking the boy up from school, whilst remembering to take in the Harvest Festival stuff!! Phew!

Why you are being so brave and working so hard, it is inspirational to see you rebuilding things, huge well done from me. Also gave me a highly inappropriate smile with your comment 'Delighted to pee in a cup today' Grin

Unhappytimes big good luck for today Smile

Mouse I am not surprised to hear you have a list! Lots of lovely encouraging words as usual, hope you have a good day and get a few of the billion jobs done.

Incider as many other have said, you are not pathetic and I am another that has tried and failed time and again. The fact that you did one day was a monumental thought the day before so try and hang on to the wins and good luck for today.

Faire I think i have found the 3lbs that you lost.

joey hope you are feeling better today, a dog walk usually helps me calm my anxieties too.

To all other babes, thank you for being there xx

Fairenuff · 26/09/2013 16:51

Haha, you can keep it beaches, I don't ever want it back Grin

isinde I don't believe we have, nice to meet you and happy birthday! I am in bed already alcohol free! Hope you're doing good too. Am I right in thinking you are the lady who's DTs were born early on in these threads? If that makes sense!

beaches thank you.

Had a bit of a stressy day at work today and think tomorrow will be more of the same. DH will be out this weekend, and have a few I'm sure, so just thinking of nice treats to enjoy my alcohol free weekend. A book, some tv and some nice time with my DD I think.

Fairenuff · 26/09/2013 22:53

the first Af birthday in adult memory!

That is the best birthday present you could give yourself Isinde Smile

SocFish · 26/09/2013 23:09

Happy Birthday isinde. I don't think I've ever had a sober adult birthday apart from being pregnant.

Day about 17 here. I'm sort of losing track though I don't want to.

Feeling great, but it's Friday. Always a frightening thought. But I'll go to AA tonight and this will be my third sober Friday.

And if I'm really bored and irritable I may just fill the thread to stress mouse out......

I AM going to stay sober this week-end! I think I'm muttering to myself.

PurpleWolfe · 27/09/2013 02:06

Happy birthday for yesterday Isinde xxxxxx
