clubbing. very cool club, but i wasn't one of the cool people. i was one of those people who had been out drinking all day and didn't want to stop when the pubs shut. DP worked there and had stayed on after work for a few. I was totally steamboats and telling his brother off.

Sitting in the college common room:

Me: (to male friend) Can I have one of your Pringles?

Male friend: Yeah sure

Me: If I ever meet a man who can fit his whole hand in a Pringles tube, I'll marry him

Cue, guy across the room who I've never seen before, runs over and puts hand in Pringles tube

Weird guy I've never met: So?

We dated for six years and then he got down on one knee (ring in Pringles tube)

Oh God, it's ridiculous isn't it? Written down, we sound like a pair of strange 'uns.

St Tropez in 1983 in a club.

mrsbang · 07/06/2006 00:50

He sort of fell on me p*ssed in a nightclub while I was talking to a mutual friend, back in 1984.

Lots assume we met through work though because our work can interlink.

Best mates wedding!!!
She had tried to persuade me that she knew someone far more suitable for me than the loser I was living with. I asked about this "lovely guy" but thought he sounded really boring.

I split with the loser days befor her wedding then whilst in the church I noticed a really good looking guy and later at the reception!
phwoarrrrrrrrrGrin
married him 12 weeks later.
Deffinately not boring and better than I could have hoped nearly 10 years later.

psychomum5 · 09/06/2006 15:12

Mine was a blind date set up by my cousin when I was sweet 16( Winkat the 'sweet')Grin

spangles · 11/06/2006 07:34

I had known DH for 6 years before we got together.
I was with someone else at the time but when that relationship fell apart one of his mates shouted out of a pub window as I walked past "He fancies ya" (dead romantic) Grin
Something just clicked and 10 years later we are still happy and have 3 children.
The thing is I had absolutely no idea he liked me and we always had a good laugh together when we saw each other... thank god his mate shouted out of that pub window.

harrisey · 12/06/2006 11:47

Uni
We were in opposite halls of residence, with the same room number so we were exactly opposite. He waved to me ......
Became very good friends and almost didn't get together as we were worried about ruining our frindship, but eventually decided that friends who snog are much more fun.
Been together for over 16 years and married for almost 12 of those. Cant imagine it any other way.

buffythenappyslayer · 12/06/2006 12:14

I was in the middle of a divorce, visiting Cape Town for New Year 2004 and kind of seeing a guy there. The day after a two-day binge of a New Year party was supposed to meet the guy for lunch but he failed to turn up, so I ate oysters alone then went to my best friend's house (best friend for 20 years, has holiday home in Cape Town) for a hair of the dog.

Lovely long boozy afternoon on their verandah by the sea, then in walked one of her husband's work friends, tall and very yummy looking. Flirted with him outrageously, we left (making totally pathetic and tranparent excuses about having to be somewhere) and checked into a hotel for the night...Blush

Nine months later, having never even been to Europe before, he arrived in London, called me from the pub at the end of my street, said he was staying a few weeks, and then never left.

JackieNo · 12/06/2006 12:32

University. He shared a room with a friend of mine, and he had a coffe machineBlush. I only wanted him for his coffee at first, then friendship, and then one evening our knees met under a crowded table, and we've been together for 20 years and married for 17Grin.
