The Brave Babes Battle Bus - Off On A Journey Far & Wide, Full Of Support, With No Reasons To Hide.

Hey, I'm Mouse, one of the Brave Babes on this Bus. :)

We're heading to sobriety, in various different ways, in our own different ways, some of us are there, some not quite yet.

We're a group of non judgemental, mothers, wives, partners, sisters, daughters, girlfriends, and of course all of the male equivalents that run alongside those 'tags', but most of all, we are, or we have been, just like YOU. :) Real people with real concerns about how much we are drinking all of the time.

Our relationships with alcohol are varied, and you'll find most of us are wanting to do something about it..... desperate to stop the cycle of drinking, stopping, drinking, stopping, drinking more, stopping for shorter periods of time and then the reverse, doing ever so well and then 'something' happens and you're back to square one, a place that sometimes gets a little crowded, one little square filled with lots of people who all want out.

Sound familiar?

You're never alone here. Ever.

Come and take a seat, post or lurk. We won't bite but we WILL look after you, SUPPORT you, if you want us to. :)

And for those want to know how we've ended up where we are today, about three years on from THIS THREAD RIGHT HERE

To our last thread JUST HERE

It will be lovely to meet you so why not take a seat and have a gossip about all things booze related but also, DCs, husbands, wives, in-laws, out-laws, and everything in between.

There's always a seat for YOU xxx

Ionnika I'm so with you on the biggest benefit being the lack of self-loathing - it's debilitating and permeates everything I do. Also, This, not drinking makes me feel empowered and able to cope with everything better. Lastly, I can't bear the anxiety when I drink, the panicky feeling that overwhelms me and often makes me cry. The calm that comes with not drinking is good. Good luck. Wise words from Faire Smile

Green! Well done on the weight loss and sticking to the exercise! You are doing fab, keep going....! In the past 5 days I've had 3 good ones, one so-so and one not very good. But even the not very good one was better than recently. Also, I've cleaned the cooker, fridge and pulled them both out and cleaned behind them too! I've managed to keep the house in a lovely clean, tidy condition - and I've lost 5lbs too! Already the skin on my face is looking better. Lovely nights sleep last night, too.

This afternoon/evenings task is to sort clothes for holiday and tidy my bedroom. Am paying DD (£3) to tidy the boy's room. They will do it themselves but tend to bung everything in a plastic bag (unsorted) and hide it all under the bed! I'll find another task for them.

Mouse How are you coping today?

jango36 · 22/07/2013 13:43

Hi Babes :)
Day four here!
The black cloud has lifted! Feel together today and switched on. I just need to keep it that way now.
Keeping busy here sorting and planning.
Mouse how is it going?
PURPS glad you are posting again. How you doing? Is it day three/four for you?
LONNIKA you are spot on with the self loathing feeling going. It s as if suddenly you can look people straight in the eye. You have confidence! The irony of it all is I only ever drank because I thought it gave me confidence! ha !

PurpleWolfe · 22/07/2013 14:09

Day 2 only Jango Had a small blip on Friday then a bigger one on Saturday Blush but still so much better than the week before. Working on even better week this week. Smile

ThisIsMyTime · 22/07/2013 14:32

Hellish day one can't wait for today to Be over !

obrigada · 22/07/2013 14:43

Day 2 for me: drank at the weekend but didn't overdo it.

greeneyed · 22/07/2013 19:39

Well done purple glad things are getting better.

this how are you feeling now? Hope you have a restful evening x

ThisIsMyTime · 22/07/2013 19:50

Hi green feeling a bit more hopeful now I've nearly made it through the day just hope I can sleep to night x

greeneyed · 22/07/2013 19:56

Glad to hear it :) it might be tough to sleep tonight aside from missing the wine haze it's going to be the hottest night of the year. Have you got a nice book you can open if uou are awake in the wee small hours?

Fairenuff · 22/07/2013 20:01

Wow purple I am impressed with all that cleaning. I have done nothing today and I don't care Grin

It's the first day of my holidays and it was so hot and clammy that I just couldn't be arsed. I can't wait for these thunderstorms to arrive and clear the air.

Well done Jango, you're doing great Smile

PurpleWolfe · 22/07/2013 20:23

Thanks Green and Faire I'm currently sitting on my bed in my newly cleaned and tidied bedroom. It's back to being a place of tranquillity and calm - I love it! I've had a cool shower and I'm happily knackered. Prawn salad for lunch and salmon and coriander salad for dinner (I'll be going in and out with the tide at this rate Grin). Day 2 complete (corner shop is closed) and that makes 4 AF days out of 6. I love the energy I get back when I don't pick that first friggin' glass up.

Well done on Day 4 Jango.

Hope all Babes have a good nights sleep. x

greeneyed · 22/07/2013 20:32

dementedma · 22/07/2013 20:32

lonnika · 22/07/2013 21:05

Well done Thisismytime, Purple, Jango, green and Obrigada - we are rocking on this bus xxxx. For anyone wanting a good book to read I can recommend Divergent - really enjoying it x

guggenheim · 22/07/2013 21:06

Well done babes

PurpleWolfe · 22/07/2013 21:18

Aww, thanks Ma - for everything. Smile Thank you too Ionnika and Guggs.

Night Babes

PervyMuskrat · 22/07/2013 21:35

Room on the bus for one more ? I had a child free weekend and spent most of it pissed so I'm at the self loathing stage right now and wondering why I put myself through it.

I know I'll feel better in a couple of days but then the cycle starts again Sad

Reading the list of positives to not drinking is helping somewhat - I'm fed up of feeling like shit and having screwed up sleep patterns.

Pink01 · 22/07/2013 22:00

Well done Green, Obrigada, Purple, Jango, Faire and Lonnika, great to read all your posts. Purple I feel like you are a visiting celeb, I have heard so much about you lol Smile has anyone heard from Babyjane?

Day 29 here thanks to the babes and I am feeling great. Ready for a sober summer holiday.

Thisismytime well done and keep going! It is so worth it! One day at a time....

ThisIsMyTime · 22/07/2013 22:06

Well I've made it to the end of a horrible anxious day one sat drinking cold milk watching new coverage of the royal baby, congrats will and kate x

Fairenuff · 22/07/2013 22:57

Grin at purple being a sleb.

Hey Muskrat welcome to the bus. Always room for one more. Are you ready to break that cycle?

Keep posting and we'll help you.

PervyMuskrat · 22/07/2013 23:12

Thanks Fairenuff. Yes, I think I am finally ready. The anxiety and depression following a session is getting too much for me so I want to do something to break the habits I've fallen into.

It's the bastard insomnia that's going to get me tonight though.

Fairenuff · 22/07/2013 23:34

Do you have any alcohol in the house Muskrat?

Pawprint · 23/07/2013 02:43

Welcomed Muskrat.

Slipped up tonight and had wine. Have poured all the rest down the sink.

PurpleWolfe · 23/07/2013 06:02

Pink You made me Grin! Day 29?! Bloody great!

Welcome Muskrat The insomnia is a killer. It puts you on a back-foot for the day to come - before you've even got out of bed. Plus, it gives you lots of time and space to let the guilt and self-loathing seep in - well, it does for me anyway. Good luck.

This You did well yesterday. You struggled but you made it through - it can be done again today. Smile

All awake here due to the amazing storm! It was right over the top of our village. Luckily, (unbeknownst to me) all my children were awake and watching the lightning from their bedroom windows - no-one was scared at all - just fascinated. Also luckily, because I wasn't the worse for wine, I remembered at 11pm that the windows of the car were still open. Now that would have been a disaster and something else to beat myself up about this morning.

Today's task - more organising for the holiday, leaving feedback for the 80 or so buyers of my e-bay stuff (sigh) and possibly making a start of the boy's bedroom (DD had other things to do yesterday!).

Morning Faire Smile

Hope all Babes have a strong, bloody-minded, determined, good day. x

Pink01 · 23/07/2013 07:59

hands autograph book to Purple

Morning babes

We had the storm here too but not til early this morning, it was so loud! Kids slept through it somehow although DS1 said he dreamt he was inside a volcano so it clearly crept into his dreams!

Well done thisis you have done day 1 and beaten the WW. Any plans for today? Hope you feel well this morning although it can take a few days to feel on top of your game. But you'll never feel as bad as you would when drinking.

Muskrat I am so sorry I looked a bit rude last night. I was typing out replies to everyone and DH came up to bed earlier than I thought, he doesn't know I post on here so I just had to press post! Therefore leaving you out. Welcome to the board, we are all here to support you. I have been on and off the wagon so many times but I want to stay aboard this time. Think I have done myself a lot of damage over time and am scared that if I drink again I will end up dead (sounds melodramatic I know) anyway, hope to get to know you better.

Haven't seen Mouse lately, or Thurso. Or Babyjane as I said last night. Hope you are all well even if you are just reading and not posting.

Have a good day everyone and stay strong

Pink X

Pink01 · 23/07/2013 08:16

Sorry I forgot Paw. How are you this morning? Well done on pouring the wine away.
