The Brave Babes Battle Bus - Posters, Lurkers, Old Or New, Come Take A Seat, This Bus Is For YOU!

Hello, I'm Mouse Smile

A huge big welcome to the Brave Babes threads.

We're a varied group of posters, on this wonderfully supportive, non judgemental, gigantic Bus, and we are all heading in the same direction - towards Sobriety.

Some of us don't touch a drop of alcohol, some of us do. Some of us drink too much, openly admit it and are desperate to stop and some of us are trying to manage controlled drinking.

No matter what we're doing, we're just trying to do it One Day At A Time.

What ever you need, what ever your habit, chances are that there'll be another poster who is just like you or has been where you are now, already here, waiting to talk or just listen :)

Yes, some of us have been here for a longer time than others, some of us for just a few days but that's what makes this Bus so great imo, the variety of knowledge and understanding :)

This Bus has been whizzing along various roads now for almost four years thanks to the very desperate cry for help from THIS THREAD BY JWN

And if you'd like to read some of the other threads, maybe how we got to where we are today, then you can follow them back using the links RIGHT HERE

Hope to see you soon :)

Good Morning all Babes! Hex So sorry you are feeling down lovely. There are so many babes who will identify with you, so keep on posting.

Isinde Move over - I'm in the side-car today too lovely. Epic fail, bottle of white last night and I had been doing so well, no particular reason except maybe my hormentals are driving me mad. Now Isinde ... I've got fresh baguette and a creamy Neufchatel and some fresh cherry tomatoes from my veg patch. A jug of milky coffee and some Pain Au Chocolat. now THAT should banish the after effects of the VV and the WW and pad us out nicely (about two or three extra inches I reckon), whaddyathink? Any babes welcome to join us. You'll recognise me, I don't have 'swishy' hair, it's dark red and curly and there's so much of it, it needs it's own postcode Grin
Mouse Cheese ...lovely cheese, where are you?? Did you get your chillow? Mine is saving my life at the moment.
BabyJane You are one funny babe! You do make me laugh.
Purps Are you ok babe. Please post.
Sweetie Good luck for today at the GPs. Did you make a list or write down what you want to say?
All babes have a good Tuesday and if you can't be good, try to be bad in moderation x

obrigada well done, do you feel better? X x x

OfficialSweetieMonitor · 19/06/2013 11:39

Thanks everyone for the support. The GP was okay and I got 2 months supply of the prescription I wanted, thank God. We briefly touched on menopause, but I said I just wanted to get things stable right now and not think about investigating the actual cause...

The doctor was running very late, and during the wait my anxiety went through the roof! Beginning to dread going to the doctors, but hopefully not have to go back for a while.

Of course, being me I am worrying in case I've done the wrong thing... my head is seriously screwed up!

OfficialSweetieMonitor · 19/06/2013 11:43

But enough of me, how are all you Babes ?

That's brilliant obrigada 1 week!

purple are you lurking? Do we have to drive the Bus down and come and get you?

Hi Babes Smile
Ok basically I've been thinking about this thread for a few days because I have gradually come to the conclusion that I may have a problem with alchohol so I thought I'd drop in of you don't mind...
So, I drink wine. Not much (can't handle more than around 3 glasses) but I Realised at the start of this week that I had had a drink every night for 3 weeks. Only one or 2, never enough to feel drunk or out of control but it has been every night. Then on Sunday night I didn't, woke up on Monday morning with what felt like a hangover. Honestly I felt like I had had a skinful the night before so had a quiet Monday night, early to bed etc and felt exactly the same on Tuesday morning.
If I'm being honest this isn't the first time I've had a couple of weeks of low level drinking and thinking back I've had exactly the same response to a dry night.
So I have decided to completely cut it out for a while. Definitely a month, probably longer. I ge the feeling that it's going to be harder than I think, we socialise at a sports club alot and it's just natural to order a cold half or cheeky glass of wine when we get there, it's a habit I will break though.
Am hoping I can persuade DH to join me, I'm getting a bit concerened about his drinking atm but he just sees it as part of his social and work expectations to have a few beers with colleagues and clients..
So what do you think? Is it a problem or am I over thinking this?

Afternoon everyone. Thank you so much for all your kind words, it really means a lot. It was so cathartic to just let it all whoosh out, even if it was a bit garbled. I tend to do this - usually at completely the wrong time and burst into floods of tears too which is precisely what I did last night. I have a feeling PMT is also coming into play as well as that always makes me far worse!

It means I can think more clearly now which is great. I didn't (for obvious reasons!) sleep very well last night but I was up early and forced myself to do some exercise. Plan for this evening is to take DS to the playground after school for a while, a simple supper, potter around tidying up and then off to bed early with a good book. Nothing too strenuous so I will hopefully feel better tomorrow.

I need to try and take time to look at everything and sort it all out one small step at a time and try not to get in such a tizz. It's pretty easy to identify the trgigers for cracking open the wine so I will try and look at how I can deal with each one.

Sigh.......

Well done to everyone else, you all seem so amazingly strong.

obrigada · 19/06/2013 14:56

Thanks everyone, still have lung infection so not much improvement health wise with not drinking just yet. Had 2 vodkas last Wednesday night which left me feeling dizzy (and I absolutely hate feeling dizzy) so have no longing to drink at the minute.

Ladame · 19/06/2013 15:56

Hex Attagirl, you sound much more positive.

I can't speak for anyone else, but I'm not amazingly strong I'm afraid. I'm a Pisces with a Cancer moon, so I couldn't be any wetter Grin. Also, I have the willpower of A GNAT !!!

All babes have a great evening of Wodens Day.

Obrigada Well done you!

lonnika · 19/06/2013 21:02

Hex, well done for starting again :). I am not strong - I have just abused my body soooo much I am scared of what I have done to it - I just can't do it anymore!!!

Feeling more up today than yesterday :).
For what it's worth I am still just taking one day at a time :)
Night Night Babes xxxx
Flobbadobs welcome :)

dementedma · 19/06/2013 21:26
