The Brave Babes Battle Bus - Posters, Lurkers, Old Or New, Come Take A Seat, This Bus Is For YOU!

Mouseface · 24/05/2013 10:33

Hello, I'm Mouse Smile

A huge big welcome to the Brave Babes threads.

We're a varied group of posters, on this wonderfully supportive, non judgemental, gigantic Bus, and we are all heading in the same direction - towards Sobriety.

Some of us don't touch a drop of alcohol, some of us do. Some of us drink too much, openly admit it and are desperate to stop and some of us are trying to manage controlled drinking.

No matter what we're doing, we're just trying to do it One Day At A Time.

What ever you need, what ever your habit, chances are that there'll be another poster who is just like you or has been where you are now, already here, waiting to talk or just listen :)

Yes, some of us have been here for a longer time than others, some of us for just a few days but that's what makes this Bus so great imo, the variety of knowledge and understanding :)

This Bus has been whizzing along various roads now for almost four years thanks to the very desperate cry for help from THIS THREAD BY JWN

And if you'd like to read some of the other threads, maybe how we got to where we are today, then you can follow them back using the links RIGHT HERE

Hope to see you soon :)

Hi all, and well done skippy for coming back to post. Don't think about success or failure for a wee while, just take it day or hour or minute at a time. And come on here and post.

I'm OK. Just feeling rather quiet at the moment. And over-busy and trying not to be distracted by mn!

OfficialSweetieMonitor · 14/06/2013 13:41

venus it's good to see you again. Hope you're doing okay.

dementedma · 14/06/2013 16:53

officialsweetiemonitor i doff my cap at name change manoeuvre. Didnt see that one coming Grin You're stuck with it now though!
venus you're ok! I will stand down the SWAT team "Squids, Women and Tarts".
Butt-ties and luminous wee? I swear this place becomes more intriguing by the day.
edin my DS has survived his two day induction and actually enjoyed it. Hope yours does too.
hexare you still with us?

ImaHexGirl · 14/06/2013 17:17

Still here! Smile

OfficialSweetieMonitor · 14/06/2013 17:22

Thank you kindly ma

Edinbugger · 14/06/2013 18:24

Thanks ma - I'm def more nervous than him. It's brilliant that your ds enjoyed his induction - one less thing to worry about over the summer :) . He's got the P7 leaving dance to get through tonight - much spraying and gelling going on in the bathroom.... Trying hard not to wee myself a little bit with suppressed laughter...

OfficialSweetieMonitor · 14/06/2013 19:10

edinbugger my DD has also got induction to big school soon. Scary to think of our wee ones mixing with giant teenagers. I am terrified of letting her walk to school alone, have a thing about traffic accidents.

fullofhopefullness · 14/06/2013 19:22

Day 30 tomorrow. Ill come back if I revert back to old habits but dont think I will.
Best wishes to all!!
Xxx

dementedma · 14/06/2013 20:05

Ah edinbugger I bet he looks cool Grin
DS doesn't have a P7 leavers do thank god.he does have the leavers mass though - Catholic schools are bigger on prayer than fun it seems lol.
He had a great day today doing Chemistry and CDT and is so much more relaxed about the whole thing now.
sweetie got any sweeties?

OfficialSweetieMonitor · 14/06/2013 20:17

ma oh yes, green ones, purple ones, any colour you like

what on earth is CDT - am trying to think of possibilities - Chemistry, Drama and Technology ? Seems an odd combination, but then yesterday I read that some schools do all their lessons in mandarin. Clearly I am out of touch.

Costume Drama and Theatre?

Chinese Dutch and Thai ?

dementedma · 14/06/2013 20:20

CDT is Craft,Design and Technology. Used to be woodwork or techy drawing when I was at school but its all high tech now.
They can learn Mandarin if they want to as well!

HorsesDogsNails · 14/06/2013 20:51

My DD is making the move to secondary this September as well, at least her brother will be a Year 10 so he'll look out for her......

Anyway, my luminous wee Grin...... Following advice on this very thread I decided to start taking vitamin b, so went to Holland and Barrett (other health shops are available!) and bought mega vit b complex. First day I take one I discover it is a bright yellow tablet that looks like it should be for a horse Wink...... About 6 hours later I go for a wee only to discover it is indeed luminous yellow!!! It was an interesting 5 minutes while I connected the 2 things Grin!

Hope everyone is having a fab Friday evening...... Sadly the best thing we could find to watch on tv is Madagascar 3 - tbf it's quite funny! Still we'll watch Revolution in a bit, really enjoying the series.

ImaHexGirl · 14/06/2013 21:04

I remember my leaver's disco, I thought I was the business in my trouser suit and ever so slightly crop top AND I slow danced with a boy Smile

Have made it through the evening by keeping busy and had a lovely time with DS. Off to bed now for what will hopefully be a proper night's booze free sleep.

Night all x

lonnika · 14/06/2013 21:24

Evening all - another sober Fridy night :). - So many good things about being sober - besides looking thinner and better :) - Am definately better at my job :) - Still find some days hard (weekends normally - ESP Friday and Saturday). - so glad to have broken the habit - 7 weeks nearly. Full you are amazing!
Well done to newbies - you will soon clock up the time :). Much weekend love to you all :)
last thing - whilst all friends were doing dry January I thought there was no way I would ever be able to manage 3 days let alone a who,e month - so proud of myself :)))))))!!!

Edinbugger · 14/06/2013 21:28

sweetie (sorry, that doesn't sound very monitor-like!) - it's the journey too and fro that's worry me too. A two mile walk through the city centre - gulp) or a nice door to door bus journey. Of course he's determined to walk....

ma - ha! We've got a mass too - there seems to be a sudden 'mass' frenzy as they get to the end of primary school. There's even one as part of the induction!

Hex - I bet you looked like the dogs bollocks. (In a good way!). DD is very keen to wear a trouser suit to her leaving do - at least I've got a couple of years to find one! :) Unless you've still got yours...

Hello to everyone else! Holding on here - more starving than dying on a drink cos I'm on a fast day (doing 5:2). Onwards and upwards towards a sober weekend. :)

OfficialSweetieMonitor · 14/06/2013 21:43

lonnika that's nearly 2 months - you deserve to feel proud!

Got a little boing myself, despite mental wobbles the last few days. Actually it's because of the wobbles that I feel positive - I feel able to cope without alcohol, even knowing that this (insomnia/anxiety) might not get totally resolved... and I will still get through it!

Primary School leaving disco c1973 - hotpants - something like this made by my Mum. I still got a dance, and a snog.

Re the wee stories, apparently the foods with the most potent impact on your wee are asparagus, beetroot, sugar puffs and berocca vitamin tablets. Knew someone once who lived for 3 days on just those to see the effect. Allegedly he did have pink, luminous, sugar-puff / asparagus smelling wee but the biggest effect was on his bowel, which he hadn't anticipated Grin

lonnika · 15/06/2013 08:28

Lol Venus - wont be testing that theory any time soon xx
Sweetie - my insomnia has gone - I (mostly) sleep like a baby :)
As fr my anxiety just before I gave up the dreaded WW I was put on beta blockers for anxiety - all gone since I gave up. I have realised that rather than alcohol making those things better it was making them worse -
Isinde your night sounds lovely and yes raising toddlers is exhausting and that is with one at a time not double trouble :)

babyjane1 · 15/06/2013 09:39

Morning babes, I love the upbeat vibe on the brave babe boogy bus, I'm also sober and enjoying the mornings, I've got a Buddha belly due the chocolate I'm replacing wine with and I never even eat chocolate normally!!! I've cut myself a bit of slack but come next week it's swim, gym and losing weight, time for the new me to emerge... Regards the luminous pee, I also experience this odd phenomenon, it apparently happens to a small minority of people who are highly attractive, extremely witty with a through the roof IQ's, and dewy skin and swishy hair!!!!!!!! Have a great day y'all x x x x

Fairenuff · 15/06/2013 10:55

Talking of bowels (I know we've moved on but I just caught up) my ds used to get green nappies when he was a wee toddler and it took me ages to realise it always coincided with a trip to the swimming pool. So I guess chlorine or summat gives you green poo (if you swallow the water).

Yes, Isinde there is no down time with toddlers, it is bloody hard work. But worth it. I reckon ages 5 - 10 are pretty good because they are old enough to do most things for themselves and young enough to still want to do lots of things with you. Enjoy every precious moment, take loads of photos, you will only remember the good bits Grin

jango36 · 15/06/2013 12:04

Hi ya to all the babes from the side car of shame. This week I am determined not one drop of this stuff is going to pass my lips! I have been managing say two or three days off then whoops! Back on the sauce again.. So tired if the negative feelings this is bringing me. Want clear eyes and a sharp mind again. So I'm trying for nine days then I'm on hols to Spain so I know I will drink there.. But carefully:) Am gonna check in daily if ok to mark my progress.

So in awe of you successful babes. You are indeed my inspiration. Please will me on:)
Lon n I ka - I'm to on beta blockers they are doing wonders for my anxiety. How long have you been on then?
SKippy - welcome back to the bus. How long have you felt you had a problem ? How much are or where you drinking? Tell me too mind my own if you like x

Will check in tomorrow and today I will NOT be drinking. Love to all you babes xx

ImaHexGirl · 15/06/2013 14:42

Venus - those shorts are certainly interesting! Same colour were they? Grin

I had never heard of luminous wee til this thread. I have experienced asparagus wee, tuna wee and coffee wee though.....

Didn't sleep great but that was due to DS star fishing in the middle of the bed. It was lovely though having a clear head and being able to head off to the gym. DS and I then had a lovely shopping trip along with lunch. Now vegging on the sofa which is when I start to get bored and think of having a glass of wine. I've got a diet coke instead and just want to keep my mind off it. Might do some more work on the fancy dress stall and plan my cake for the school fair to keep myself occupied .....

Mouseface · 15/06/2013 15:50

Afternoon, tis me, Mouse

venus - I'm glad you posted and I'm glad that you are taking time to just be you for a while and get on with things. Much love to you dear friend xxx

Hex - Diet coke is my new weapon of choice, we're watching Lion King, the bit where Mufassa dies and just generally chilling out. Sorry you didn't sleep so great, that will pass in time

You're doing great, you really are :) Well Done! x

Ma - you missed out the Bus's wolf, Seth. He's not happy! Grin

Percy Pigs, not fizzy, just the normal ones thanks very much! Grin

IsInDe - I'm not sure I understand your post to me. Do you want me to see someone about all of my illnesses? Or the fact that I fall asleep a lot? Or my meds or all of the above because I have no idea where I'd start. Any ideas?

Mouse Go you!
That's fantastic!
I'm having a cozy day in with my boy too. Dh working all day & got the car and dd out and about as per for her ?? Did take ds out earlier but was bloody freezing so we came back & popped the heating on.
Day 14 for me today.
Wondered if lovely kind babe who put link up for alcohol free wine could pop it up again please?
Watched Argo last night, thought it was brilliant, well worth watching if anyone's looking for a film for tonight. Not sure if it was a book first but if so think it would be a fab book.
Stay brave lovely babes xxx
