How long were you together before you were engaged?

Just wondering really! Dp and I have been together 14 months, lived together 4 months (not engaged yet btw!), my sister has just got engaged after 7 weeks so all my family a bit sceptical.

7 weeks is a bit quick. Clearly that can and does work out for some people but I would want six months to a year to really see the person in depth before marrying them.

engaged after 3 years, married a year later. Been married for 7years now and all good. I think it's important to really get to know one-another before hand. Afterall, if you know they're the one, what's the rush? x

Been together 8 years we are not engaged at the min, but my dad has told me DP asked for my dad's permission last weekend to marry me, I'm not supposed to know ;-)

3 years. But we were young and a lot of that was long distance. Call me old fashioned, but I didn't want to commit to living together before we started making wedding plans.

Got married after 18 months of engagement, 6 months of living together.

about 8 weeks. bit of a problem in that I was still married to someone else we've been together now 13 years and married for 10.

9 weeks! I was 22, DH 23.

We then married 5 months later. Obviously a few people were shocked, although all my friends and family liked him very much, they just thought we were in too much of a rush.
We were madly in love and couldn't see any point in waiting.

We are just about to celebrate our 24th wedding anniversary and I love him very much. Looking back I think we are lucky, one of us could have been a complete twat and we wouldn't have known after 9 weeks.

He proposed after 1 day.
We were married 8 weeks later.
I shit you not.

This year we enter our 20th year of blissfully happy marriage and we are renewing our vows.

15 years, was a joke between our long time friends... Lived together after 2 years. Talked about getting married during those 15 years but were enjoying life. Guess we knew we were going to stay together always.

8 years, 2 months and 23 days :)
Married day after our 10th anniversary, our anniversary was a Friday hence day after. That was 5.5 years ago, love my hubs :)

I was 17 when we got together, him 23 ( known each other since I was 3 - brothers friend). Didn't see each other for 10 years as we moved away, bumped into each other on a night out and the rest is history.......

DH proposed after about 6 weeks but it wasn't official until he got down on one knee with a ring after 10 1/2 years! Been together 14 years now but only married for 2 1/2.

Still waiting for an engagement ring, but marriage was discussed within the first couple of weeks, unofficially engaged after 3 months and married after 7 months (whilst 22 wks pg). That was 13 years ago, very much together despite the doubts cast by half of those who came to our wedding!

One year but to be honest i kew we would be wed when we got together he just waited the year so his family didnt winge about it being to soon

We been togher one year got. Engaged it took a year to pay off everything now been martied 3 years but together 5
