Just wondering really! Dp and I have been together 14 months, lived together 4 months (not engaged yet btw!), my sister has just got engaged after 7 weeks so all my family a bit sceptical.

Just under 2 years, then married a year later. We'd decided long before that to get married but needed to sort logistics.

TheHouseofMirth · 22/03/2013 18:43

DH proposed to me 4 weeks after we met (at uni). Although on the face of it, it seemed mad, when he asked me I just couldn't say no! We were engaged for 5 years and have been married for 16 years.

DumSpiroSpero · 22/03/2013 18:43

Been together getting on for 17 years now btw, celebrating our 10th wedding anniversary in a couple of weeks.

Sianilaa · 22/03/2013 18:46

Engaged after 3 weeks! I knew he was The One as soon as I saw him. I was 24, he was 34.

Married 10 months after our 1st date.

We have been married 6 years, 2 DS.

TheRealFellatio · 22/03/2013 18:47

Just over a year. Married 6 months later.

CockyFox · 22/03/2013 18:48

13 weeks, married 6 months later, I was 17 (18 when we married) he was 26. First child 5 years in. I'm now 30 we are still very happy.

lessthan9lives · 22/03/2013 18:49

Ten days Grin then married twelve months later. Still going strong five years on.

Ironically until I met DH I had no intention of ever marrying anyone!

Engaged after 3 years, married a year later. Have been happily married for 5 years so far.

ImTooHecsyForYourParty · 22/03/2013 18:55

We didn't really do it. We got married 3 months after we met so while the (very short) period between deciding to marry and actually marrying is I suppose technically an engagement, we never bothered telling people we were engaged, we just asked them if they were free in a couple of weeks. Grin

impty · 22/03/2013 18:57

2 weeks. Now been together for 16 years. Married for 10 of those... happilyGrin Grin

danceponydance · 22/03/2013 18:58

Engaged after 3 1/2 years and married 18 months later - 5 years and 2 weeks after our first date.

piprabbit · 22/03/2013 19:00

11 years and one near death experience.

mrsbungle · 22/03/2013 19:01

4 months. We got married 1 year after we got together.

We had known each other (only at work) for a couple of years.

I was 25 and he was 33.

Still together 10 years later!

WaitingForMe · 22/03/2013 19:04

I proposed after 18 months, a few weeks after my divorce finalised and within 24 hours of realising he probably believed me when I said I'd never marry again but I absolutely had to marry him.

badtasteflump · 22/03/2013 19:06

DH proposed on the 1st anniversary of when we met. We got married 8 months later - that was 13 years ago Smile

Why are your family sceptical OP? 14 months isn't that long...

crushedintherush · 22/03/2013 19:11

Met in Dec 1990, got engaged in April 1991, moved into out first house June 1991, got married in August 1992. Love the guy so much. Wouldn't know what I 'd do without him:)

Coffee1Sugar · 22/03/2013 19:14

Noo not sceptical of ME they love my guy! Sceptical of you sister being engaged after a few weeks. Sorry if op was unclear! Smile

bump6 · 22/03/2013 19:17

11 months. Married 8 months later, nearly 6 years wed and so happy.

PopeBenedictsP45 · 22/03/2013 19:18

Eight years. But fate dealt us a hand and we were forced to get married for visa reasons, wouldn't have done it at all otherwise.

Snazzynewyear · 22/03/2013 19:19

Four years. Got married a year later.

phlebas · 22/03/2013 19:20

4 days! We've got our 15th anniversary coming up this year :)

Doilooklikeatourist · 22/03/2013 19:20

We met in the October , started going out together in the November and got engaged in the December of 1993 .
Married the following June .
Now have 2 teenagers , still very happy .
Don't be sceptical , it does work .
