VoiceofUnreason · 06/01/2013 12:45

Afternoon and HNY to those who remember me. Decided last night to catch up with how you were all doing after my self-imposed exile a few weeks before Xmas. Many of you have been busy bees!

As you may recall, I decided to avoid the thread for a while as having been long-term single and with not even a hint of coffee or Coffee for over a year and Xmas coming up, I needed a break from the thread and all you lucky ones having some fun (jealousy is such an ugly thing!).

Anyway, also last night I decided that having given online dating the cold shoulder for six months (after 18 months and just two dates), I perhaps needed to get back on that particular horse as I just never meet any single women in real life. So I did a profile on GSM which is about the only site I had never used before.

It is very heavily weighted towards certain cities, which I sort of expected, but not quite to the extent it was. I quite liked the fact that when you specified a search for age and area, it would then rate the list of lovely ladies in a percentage match term. Top of the list was an attractive lady who, GSM said, was a 95% match for me.

And if that was a 95% match, I'm a zebra. Looking at our interests, outlook, opinions, likes and dislikes, I could tell without any scientific methodology that we were, at very best, a 50% match. And my two biggest dealbreakers, she broke. Gee, GSM, what a great matching system you must use.

So I am already back of that particular horse. Back to living live through you lot for a while again!!!

VelvetSpoon · 06/01/2013 12:45

Lubey if you lived closer I'd come and tidy it gladly, I love tidying houses apart from my own Grin

I think I will agree to see STwunt. And cancel. Which is what he deserves.

Still can't work out the thing he said about relationships I know theres no point trying to figure it out really, but still. It's not on his FB (annoyingly) so I don't know how many of 'the girls' will have seen it, or who it was aimed at. He'll know that I will have seen it though.

I do wish he wasn't such a complete twunt, because I do find him ridiculously attractive. Am sure that will pass though.

ike1 · 06/01/2013 12:54

Unreason ...you are welcome to whatever Ive got! Velvet....it will pass like having a good dump...

StuffezLaBouche · 06/01/2013 13:01

Anyone mind if I creep in and join you?

After a year of dithering and signing up for free sites then cancelling my profile as soon as people made contact, I've bitten the bullet and signed up to a month of Match.com. I'm talking to a nice-sounding guy 3 miles from me, so a good start there. I have horribly low self confidence though and tend to cut off from anyone who shows interest because I think they'll run screaming when they see me.
Anyway, hope you don't mind me here - I'm going to be nosy and read back a few pages...

JulietteMontague · 06/01/2013 13:08

Velvet brilliant comeback, Bant has it, Spacetwunt is an manipulator and attention seeker, it's all about him, every time. He is, of course good at this and would have sucked the life out of you as there would always be some drama designed around him. It is entirely possible that his wife got tired of him this whilst pregnant, realised whatever he was up to and kicked him out.

Scatty fireman sounds rather cute, I hope all is well with the tests.

Bill how are DC today?

Luby have a fab time this evening

Off to meet Mr Vague for second date this afternoon.

MsArsebiscuit · 06/01/2013 13:39

48, not in the slightest bit jealous, oh no, not me.

Ike, I had 12 years of 'a Jack Russell humping my leg', no oral sex because he didn't like it and then 3 years of nothing because he didn't want sex and wouldn't tell me why he didn't.

Have a lovely afternoon with Vague, Juliette.

Unreason, I'm on GS, the matching thing confuses me too ( never had a 95% though ) - I must say that I take no notice whatsoever of the percentages, I go off the profile as to whether I've got the remotest interest in someone, thus far none of them have set my world alight.

ParsleyTheLioness · 06/01/2013 14:05

Welcome stuff, hi everyone
Velvet yes give him the runaround
Lubey and Juliette have good dates
I'm talking, and have provisionally arranged a date with a research scientis off POF. Not my usual type, just seems nice, sofar....I'm going to give nice a little go. Can't hurt, can it.

BillMasen · 06/01/2013 14:14

Hi all. Yeah kids are a bit better today and I'm back to normal after letting the CF thing get to me a bit. Thanks for the kind words and hugs.

UnbridledPositivity · 06/01/2013 14:31

Hmm, sent photos last night, still no reply from Greek Man, and he has been online...

lubeybooby · 06/01/2013 14:34

Thanks all for the good luck! Been out to get wine and firewood. Knackered now!

Velvet oh god wish I lived in the same town now! You would have a field day with my room right now. And now I really am too knackered to sort it out.

AIBU to shove everything in bin bags and hide in the pantry? Please? I did ever such a good job on the kitchen.

And thank fuck for my new hoover which isn't so backbreaking to use.

I have decided to wear THE dress. The one of stripping off in hotel corridor fame. It must be lucky. Sod the lost one!

I have been assured by Mr Natural that he has plenty of 'girth' ...good to know ...

ike1 · 06/01/2013 15:00

oh dear oh dear ... pmsl

ike1 · 06/01/2013 15:07

It is all funny tho

Bant · 06/01/2013 15:12

Well I would ask you to wish me luck on my date with Shoegirl, who I was meant to meet 5 minutes ago. But having arrived and bought a drink, she texted to say her son was ill and she has to cancel. Very apologetic but also very Hmm

So ball is in her court. What's the standard acceptable penalty for cancelling a date? I mean if her son is sick that's understandable, and I presume if she does reschedule it means he really was, rather than an excuse. So maybe no penalty needed. But if it was cold feet then..

Oh she would presumably have seen me walking through the car park as she'd texted to say she was here. Bang goes the self esteem.

StuffezLaBouche · 06/01/2013 15:12

Eek!
Always reassuring to know... :) Is this someone you've met, Ike?

Bant · 06/01/2013 15:13

Ike. Does that mean he's fat?

VoiceofUnreason · 06/01/2013 15:15

Bant - She has to be the one to reschedule. Don't make any moves to re-establish a date. While I am sympathetic to genuine excuses, unless her son suddenly threw up the moment she was heading out of the door, why didn't she know and cancel BEFORE you were due to meet, not 5 minutes after she should have been there.

Bant · 06/01/2013 15:18

Apparently her ex just phoned..

lubeybooby · 06/01/2013 15:19

Oh no Bant!

It's amazing how many daters suddenly have sick DC eh?

I second what Voice said ^ up there. Don't make any move to reschedule.

OP posts:
MsArsebiscuit · 06/01/2013 15:19

And just how did that come up, Ike ?

Bant, that's bobbins, don't let it dent your self-esteem, most of the laydeeez seem to go wild for a bit of Bant Magic.

Lubey, what's the dress like ? And have a marvellous time.

StuffezLaBouche · 06/01/2013 15:19

Bant - I'm new to this online thing (and this thread!), but I would feel like you. Cancelling at precisely the time you're meant to be meeting is a bit Hmm and I would probably feel like you. Do you have any other dates lined up?

lubeybooby · 06/01/2013 15:21

MsArse I'll see if i can put a pic on my profile...

Bant · 06/01/2013 15:24

Hi stuffez,
Possible second date with miss guiness, who I was more impressed by than I thought I'd be. Second date at the end of the month with canon crew. Probably not going to happen, that one. A couple of other email convos with girls who winked at me, both attractive and funny so far.

Ah well, I'll chalk Shoegirl down to experience unless she phones with a really good story. I thought we really got on, too..
