11:11 is time of the solstice/apocalypse, according to the myan/pagan hybrid theory :o

JulietteMontague · 21/12/2012 01:35

I do kind of feel like I should rush out now and have Coffee with the first random man about. Unfortunately that would mean one of the men from the kebab shop They are very nice and friendly but I have a feeling they may see me differently in the morning Grin

JulietteMontague · 21/12/2012 01:36

Just realised that, that is the whole point. That will be the last morning.

I'm off...

mercury7 · 21/12/2012 01:42

never mind Coffee, I'm at a crucial point in negotiations with a race of beings from a nearby earthlike planet, I think I've got them to agree to pick me up @ 10:55 am :o

cafecito · 21/12/2012 01:45

did you meet them online? Grin

KirstyWirsty · 21/12/2012 06:47

I hope the world doesn't end before I get my Coffee tonight! Grin

48howdidthathappen · 21/12/2012 07:15

Phew! Still get to have Mr R&R Saturday night Grin

mercury Your work here is done Flowers

Yogagirl17 · 21/12/2012 07:26

Well it seems like I'm going to have to settle for coffee not Coffee before the world end.s

MsArsebiscuit · 21/12/2012 07:52

Me too, not so much as a sniff of Coffee chez Arsebiscuit.

Scattylatte · 21/12/2012 07:53

Morning all
Getting my hair cut Pre world ending today. Maybe coffee. No Coffee.

My annoying friend text me last night saying he wanted me there and then! I was icing a cake at the time so it was a no go zone. He won't do planning dates, it's always last minute so we never actually get to meet.

Fireman wants to meet again but I'm not sure. He is so thin and only eats bland food. Not quite scared of peas but not far off!

VelvetSpoon · 21/12/2012 08:26

Nothing happening here either. Have woken up in a complete arse of a mood, I think at least in part because I'd convinced myself cuthbert would text last night. And of course he didn't. Its ridiculous to be disappointed when someone doesn't do something they hadn't even said they'd do, but I am.

Hope my mood improves. Haven't felt like this for a long time :(

BantaBaby · 21/12/2012 08:37

So I've got my DC for the next few days, but I'll be on my own on Christmas day. Tempted as I am by the thought of getting pissed by lunchtime and watching the Bond film, I thought I might actually do something decent as I have the day to myself.

Anyone ever volunteered in a homeless kitchen before? Any advice how I'd go about arranging to give food out?

Wickaninnish · 21/12/2012 08:38

velvet it's something in the ether!! I have been in an arsey mood for 24 hours. Haven't felt this low for ages.

The reason is a two hour search of the pathetic offerings in the 50+ age group on line. Why do all men seem to morph into Mr Magoo when they hit that age. I couldn't believe some of the lies either. 70 year olds purporting to be 52 etc.

Wickaninnish · 21/12/2012 08:46

banta I have and it is an amazing and uplifting experience.

I worked for Crisis one christmas and 'Meals on Wheels' another year.

The initial feelings are sadness that people are so alone at this time of year and shock at the conditions our society allows people to live in.

But I was stunned by the way human spirit can bounce back given a little warmth, food, care and compassion!!

48howdidthathappen · 21/12/2012 08:47

Bantababy My ex is doing exactly that christmas day. I can ask him if you like?

I am getting hammered Grin

notthegrinch · 21/12/2012 08:47

Potentially I could be having Coffee but instead Ironman wants to go shopping so when the world ends we will probably be in Gap discussing the merits of x vs y jumper for his nephew.

OhLittleTownofWesternWind · 21/12/2012 08:47

Velvet and Wickan - I am also in the mood of doom last night and today. Crappy crappy insecure feelings coming back, despite being on to see LM tonight. Not sure if he can stay over as he's had to bring his mum over to his as she is unwell and not okay to be on her own, which has brought things down a bit, but not enough to justify feeling like this. It must be Christmas . . . I hate it so much, hate having to pretend to be happy and jolly (whereas I am actually quite happy and jolly if I'm left to myself), feel very uprooted at the moment, missing lots of stuff about my "old life" though not ex of course, missing my friends, my lovely old house, my old job, the children being younger and not the cynical stroppy pre-teens I find myself living with now . . . Wah wah wah. Slap me with a wet kipper. Need to get in upbeat and shagtastic mood by this evening.

Bant - good on you. Genuinely think that's a really good thing to do. I'd put a call in to your local shelter and ask what help they need.

Alittlestranger · 21/12/2012 08:51

Bant you may have left it too late, most won't be leaving their rotas until the last minute! Best thing you can do is ring some shelters local to you. I don't think Crisis at Christmas. operate out of Cambridge.

VelvetSpoon · 21/12/2012 08:56

Normally christmas gets me down, the last 2 years I've spent practically the whole of december feeling miserable. This is my 5th xmas of being single.

But til yesterday I've been happy and smiling, and geniunely so, not just making an effort and trying to be happy when I wasn't really. And now I just want to cry. Bugger :(

48howdidthathappen · 21/12/2012 08:56

I am spreading the love Smile

Recieved an item from ebay that I wasn't that chuffed with. Messaged seller to that effect.
They replied feel free to return.
I messaged. Don't worry about it. Its christmas :)
They replied. Aww, thanks. Merry christmas :)

Wickaninnish · 21/12/2012 08:58

P.S if you can't get to a Crisis centre at Christmas (travel can be difficult) then both Crisis and the Salvation Army badly need donations at this time of year to fund their Christmas work.

You can go online and donate enough to support someone having a bed for the night in one of their shelters, food for someone etc.etc.

I know that there are hundreds of charity's out there vying for our money and charitable giving is very personal, but both charities do amazing work at Christmas and are relatively efficient in the way they spend the money they receive.

48howdidthathappen · 21/12/2012 09:03

Off to have my teeth cleaned at the Dentist.

As a smoker. Bliss Smile

48howdidthathappen · 21/12/2012 10:17

£40 down. But brighter smile Grin

48howdidthathappen · 21/12/2012 10:39

Aww. Velvet sorry you are feeling down. Christmas crap will soon be over Smile

smoothieooo · 21/12/2012 10:44

Bant I was thinking of doing the same but can't find an organisation who only want a volunteer for Christmas afternoon (I have DC until 3).

Maybe I'm not looking hard enough (I know that altruism is the way to go, but I think I secretly just want to drink champagne and watch Christmas TV with the cats)
