real life challenges vs online misadventures, dating (and non-dating) thread 19

I have been to the pub. I'm not pissed but I am happy (well happier at least).

Conclusions reached this evening:

  1. I am pretty bloody amazing, and any man I choose to date is very very lucky and should appreciate this fact!
  2. Online dating is not for me. But I have learned from it that I shouldnt judge a book by it's cover and not to be so superficial
  3. Man from the weekend DID like me, he is either still in love with his wife, or still hurt by her and lacking in confidence, there is NOTHING I did wrong, and he probably will be back at some point, but it will be too late because I will have MOVED ON :)
  4. I am joining the gym and losing my remaining 3 stone.
  5. I am going back to my old haunts in Essex this weekend because I have the best nights out there and feel at home. I intend to drink, dance, look fabulous and talk to anyone and everyone!

So that's my resolutions for the thread in essence, less moaning, more exercise, to have fun and be sociable to everyone, less aloof unavailable ice queen and more friendly and approachable.

I once went to a teacher friend's 25th birthday...it had a school theme. Everyone went with bunches, short skirts & ties and so on (the men in shorts with plasters on their knees etc).

Not me, though. I went as the headmistress! Twinset & tweed skirt! I was only 23, ffs!

snapespeare · 18/08/2012 14:37

crikey. I like that a lot better. If blokes want to perve, I'd rather they behave themselves or they'll get a swift swipe across the buttocks than want me to sit on their knee and tell them my times tables. :-)

CrikeyOHare · 18/08/2012 14:43

Yeah - I've never really made up my mind about the schoolgirl thing. On one level, it seems completely wrong for the reasons you've given - but on the other, it's so incredibly common and most outfits are parodies rather than genuine attempts to look like little girls.

So, dunno.....

Tis all academic for me, though. I'd look fecking ridiculous in a get up like that these days. And I can't remember my times tables, either Grin.

snapespeare · 18/08/2012 14:55

Strappy sundress cannot be found, but awesome green tartan punk rock pants that I haven't been able to zip up for about eight years but couldn't part with are on and oh, awesome!

ChaoticismyLife · 18/08/2012 15:16

Schoolgirl dress-up = yuk. Sorry, just fuels middle aged men's lost youth/ power fantasies and leads to the overt sexualisation of children.

This ^^

Sundress sounds lovely snape something a little different from the norm (band t-shirt and loose trousers) might just get him looking at you differently.

At this rate I'm going to have to rejoin OKCupid so I can stalk you take a look at your profile Grin

snapespeare · 18/08/2012 15:35

I want everyone to rejoin OKC. I refuse to suffer alone! :-)

I absolutely love this chap I'm talking to from Staines. He's smashing. :-)

CrikeyOHare · 18/08/2012 16:05

How many of the questions did you fill out, Snape?

snapespeare · 18/08/2012 16:09

About 200ish? No idea. Will check. :-)

CrikeyOHare · 18/08/2012 16:10

200??????????????

I haven't answered any!

Better get busy.

CrikeyOHare · 18/08/2012 16:11

Just got excited about my first message :)

It's from the creator :(

Crikey I felt the same way then I first joined OKCupid, got excited at having a message then found it was the owner. I answered over 300 questions, on and off, they were strangely addictive at times. I passed on a few and found myself wondering about the minds of some of the question creators.

CrikeyOHare · 18/08/2012 16:22

Chaotic Are you already on there?

snapespeare · 18/08/2012 16:24

Questions 225. As long as you don't agonise over them, it does kill time quite nicely.

Right, need to go and pick up PM.

Shall report back. probably quite drunkenly

MyLittleMiracles · 18/08/2012 16:28

I will not be wearing bunches or ties. I am going in my old school uniform but have had to shorten the skirt cos I am too fat to roll it up now ah those were the days. Lol.

My okcupid profile is still active.

CrikeyOHare · 18/08/2012 16:31

Keeping everything crossed for you Snape :)

ChaoticismyLife · 18/08/2012 16:37

Enjoy snape :)

Crikey I used to be but deleted my profile a few weeks ago.

CrikeyOHare · 18/08/2012 16:40

Rejoin Chaotic. The we can have fun spotting potatoes together.

I have no life.

TimeForMeAndDD · 18/08/2012 16:42

Have a lovely time Snape, I know you will have to force yourself. Grin

ChaoticismyLife · 18/08/2012 17:10

Sorry, wandered off to read some weddingzilla stories :)

Crikey that is very tempting. I've already joined and left the site twice, I think I've got an invisible bungee rope attached to me Grin

hatesponge · 18/08/2012 17:12

Snape have fun Grin

Ex has text me to say boys are safely in Lanzarote & it is v hot (he has a talent for stating the fucking obvious). This means I can now go out and enjoy myself tonight without worrying :)...just a shame I have an hour on public transport to do in this bloody heat!

Lots of people looking - no one messaging :(

Well, apart from two twerps.

ChaoticismyLife · 18/08/2012 18:10

I was more successful on OKCupid than I was on POF with messages but even then there was a few twerps.

snapespeare · 18/08/2012 18:40

Posting quickly from changing room before swim.

While on running machines

PM: SO! Have you deactivated your OKC profile yet?

Me: no.

PM I just meet terrible women there, really stupid or fat or ugly.

Me: you need to cast your net wider.

Talking about flatmate who was meant to come out with us tonight, nmbut is shagging gf instead

PM: I mean that's what happens, isn't it, when.you meet someone, I don't see any of my friends who are now in relationships...
Me: well, yes tests what happens, isn't it. Doesn't mean its right.

Right, off for swim. Will update. :)

So, in other words "Please deactivate your profile Snape cos I really don't want to lose you. I've been on OKStupid for ages now and I've not met anyone who is a patch on you. I couldn't bare it if you met someone, I would never see you"

Enjoy your swim Grin

INBOX UPDATE!

Oh... oh.... ohhh god. I have got the sweetest message from him. Fuck, that must have been so hard for him, it's incredibly deep and detailed. I feel rather proud and touched and wobbly lipped. omg.
