I found some knickers that are not mine. Can anyone come up with an explanation ?

OK. H just back from a weekend away with his friends, doing a sporting activity.

I found some women's knickers that are not mine, and not my DC's, openly left out on our bedroom dressing table.

Has anybody any ideas of what could be an appropriate explanation for this ? At the moment, I am struggling to see one. I am asking him about it later when the DC are in bed.

No other signs, or history, of playing away, btw. Just this.

sorry, dc's friends

puzzle, we all have a life already, Mumsnet is just good for a giggle sometimes. Don't be so hard on yourself.

FelicitywasSarca · 06/08/2012 22:44

Did you see them before I picked them up?

Do you think you could have brought them home from trip away?

Would your gobby friend think this was funny?

Do you think the DCs saw them?

Are you concerned about this?

Um, I dont know really- he's your husband!

doinmummy · 06/08/2012 22:44

Maybe like other posters have said , it's just a mystery. Thinking about it my daughter and I where passing a pair of jeans backwards and forwards between our bedrooms. She thought they were mine, I thought they were hers. Turned out they didn't belomg to either of us as they were the wrong size.

Do you believe him OP?
How come they have only just surfaced ?

usualsuspect · 06/08/2012 22:47

I reckon they belong to one of your teenagers friends and got mixed up with your washing.I'm always finding random bits of clothing in my DSs washing basket.

I wouldn't give it any headspace.

ABitOfAPuzzle · 06/08/2012 22:48

I don't know why they have only just surfaced. His underwear drawer probably has stuff in it from the 1980's, tbh. That is the crux. He comes back from weekend away. There are unexplained knickers. You can see my dilemma.

If you don't think there's anything to pursue, forget it, these things happen...

Challen · 06/08/2012 22:50

'His underwear drawer probably has stuff in it from the 1980's, tbh'

A good explanation. Perhaps he pulled out an old pair of knickers from a previous relationship and used them to give the dresser a quick spit and polish. Nothing to worry about, see?

EclecticShock · 06/08/2012 22:51

If your concerned, keep asking him until you are satisfied?

ABitOfAPuzzle · 06/08/2012 22:51

WE have had random socks as my dd seems to "borrow" them all the time

But never big knickers before. A pair of size 10 flimsies could be dd's friends. But not size 14 Sloggis. They are all petite things who wouldn't be seen dead in anything less than TopShop bikini briefs.

EclecticShock · 06/08/2012 22:51

Challen? That's not very helpful?

EclecticShock · 06/08/2012 22:53

Could he be wearing them for sport and too embarrassed to say?

noddyholder · 06/08/2012 22:53

Why not just ask him

EclecticShock · 06/08/2012 22:54

If you don't believe him... Just keep asking him...until your satisfied. Might be painful for him but better get it sorted for both of you. Don't let these things fester.

doinmummy · 06/08/2012 22:55

Is your DH as bewildered as you are?

Challen · 06/08/2012 22:56

What's not very helpful, eclectic?
That the OP thinks her partner has underwear from donkey's years ago in his drawer and that they may well be an ex's old pair he had hanging around and gave the dresser a quick dust?

I have done the same thing myself, so it's likely. I'm not going with the 'he's having an affair' bandwagon on this one, that's all.

ABitOfAPuzzle · 06/08/2012 22:57

am a little bit nonplussed by challen's thinly-veiled sarcasm, tbh

I can tell the difference between a bit of good natured joshing with which I have smiled along with. And hostility. I suppose there is always one who sees an easy target though. Was it the delay in the denouement, or the lack of a concrete explanation, do we think ?

I knew I would probably be none the wiser after talking to him, hence not rushing to start accusing him of whatevers. I still don't know where a pair of random knickers appeared from. I don't think he's been shagging size 14 women who wear big (sporty?) knickers while his mate sleeps in the hotel bath. But I don't like mysteries.

ABitOfAPuzzle · 06/08/2012 22:58

noddy, I did ask him

OP posts:
EclecticShock · 06/08/2012 22:58

Apologies challen, I thought your post was intended as sarcasm.

ABitOfAPuzzle · 06/08/2012 22:59

Eclectic, I don't think he would wear womens knickers to play sport. He would tell me that.

OP posts:
eatssleepsfeeds · 06/08/2012 22:59

It'll be DD's friend's mum's pants. Don't worry. X

blackcatsdancing · 06/08/2012 22:59

if he had been up to anything he wouldn't have left the evidence in full view for you to find. Please put this completely out of your head now. Its a weird mystery but nothing more.

ABitOfAPuzzle · 06/08/2012 23:01

I also apologise if you were meaning to be helpful, challen

it's simply that it didn't come across like that, over several of your posts

OP posts:
EclecticShock · 06/08/2012 23:01

Well, if you have no other reason to doubt his response... Just move on, life is too short.

ABitOfAPuzzle · 06/08/2012 23:02

anyway, thanks everybody, it's been helpful, all of it

I wish I knew what the mystery was, though
