I found some knickers that are not mine. Can anyone come up with an explanation ?

OK. H just back from a weekend away with his friends, doing a sporting activity.

I found some women's knickers that are not mine, and not my DC's, openly left out on our bedroom dressing table.

Has anybody any ideas of what could be an appropriate explanation for this ? At the moment, I am struggling to see one. I am asking him about it later when the DC are in bed.

No other signs, or history, of playing away, btw. Just this.

He has gone to bed as he is tired. Kids are young teens so still up watching The Olympics round up. I am going to follow him and ask him.

I will report back, but hopefully it will be very, very boring and not worth hanging around for. I was only asking for possible explanations. Is it a slow night elsewhere on MN ? Smile

challen, you are way off with the conspiracy theory, or whatever it is you are going on about

I've had a random pair of knickers turn up in the washing machine, not mine, dh away, children too young to open door...seems like there's quite a few pant mysteries here!

SauvignonBlanche · 06/08/2012 22:17

The suspense!

Challen · 06/08/2012 22:17

'hopefully it will be very, very boring and not worth hanging around for'

Says it all.

NoComet · 06/08/2012 22:20

My DH just chucks his dirty washing on the floor of hotel rooms, but he's very good at checking under beds etc. on leaving.

He wears dark slips, he'd never notice if he'd grabbed a pair of black cotton ladies knickers as well.

He hasn't the faintest idea what his clothes look like, couldn't care less and I would have packed.
My underwear gets mixed up with his in the washing occasionally. If he did notice he'd assume they were mine.

NotInGuatemalaNowDrRopata · 06/08/2012 22:21

Could they be Beth Tweddle's? I'm almost positive she was not wearing any pants under her leotard. Tsk.

Challen · 06/08/2012 22:21

puzzle it's no theory, everyone knows about them :)

Lucyellensmum99 · 06/08/2012 22:21

This has bought flashbacks of my ex - just before i met DP i had a relationship with a guy. Turned out he liked to cross dress. This was not the reason we split up (we were quite young!). Anyway, on cleaning out the spare room about a year later with my now DP, I found loads of pairs of knickers - not mine!!! I also heard rumours about clothes disappearing from washing lines, which strangely stopped when i got shot of Mr frilly knickers. Thanks for the memories :)

iloveberries · 06/08/2012 22:25

Good luck op!

ThePan · 06/08/2012 22:28

As a bloke I now know far more about bleached gussets than I ever needed to know. And STILL don't know the outcome. Just ask him. Or I will.

FelicitywasSarca · 06/08/2012 22:29

How'd it go OP?

ABitOfAPuzzle · 06/08/2012 22:30

OK. He says he must have found them in his drawer and left them out, thinking they were mine or dc's. He knows nothing about them.

I told you it would be an anti-climax. If he hadn't been away for the weekend, I wouldn't have given it another thought. Have I been reading too much MN ? Perhaps.

mumblecrumble · 06/08/2012 22:31

Yes, I often think I must read too much mumsnet.

Now go and squeeze your lovely husband:) I know I hug mine more after reading on here.

ThePan · 06/08/2012 22:32

A likely story........Grin

ABitOfAPuzzle · 06/08/2012 22:32

btw, challen, I reckon you might need to get a life Smile

and I really don't know what Liveworld is....so maybe I'm the one that needs to get a life

who knows...

"he says he must have found them in his drawer"
Surely he KNOWS if he found them in a drawer or not.

FelicitywasSarca · 06/08/2012 22:34

Hmmm call me suspicious but I'd be asking a few more supplementary questions.

ABitOfAPuzzle · 06/08/2012 22:34

I would know, you would know. He says vaguely "a couple of weeks ago"

I can categorically say a pair of random knickers has not been sat on our dressing table for a "couple of weeks"

OP posts:
ImperialBlether · 06/08/2012 22:36

I suppose the question is, does he have form?

bronze · 06/08/2012 22:36

Size 14 sloggi are 10-12 normal
Could they be one of your teens friends?

PrincessOfSnails · 06/08/2012 22:37

Can't believe you're not more suss considering that 'explanation', especially in view of how Hmm you were at the start when everyone was sure it was perfectly innocent.

Something about those partially bleached knickers smells fishy to me

ABitOfAPuzzle · 06/08/2012 22:37

more supplementary questions ? Any ideas ?

he says he doesn't know how they got there

he takes no responsibility for laundry at the best of times other than filling the laundry basket nd doing his ironing, so that isn't unusual in itself

he wouldn't tidy random knickers away, he would leave them out

I just don't know where they came from...and he says the same

Ha, my friend once dropped some pants out of her bag in my dad's car. Not sure who was more mortified, my dad when he gave them to me or my friend when I returned them.

ABitOfAPuzzle · 06/08/2012 22:39

no, no form

I cannot imagine any of my dc's wearing big Sloggi knickers
