How many men / women have you slept with?

Today for the first time ever I counted and it is 14 / 0*.

I am 35. This is just under 1 a year since I became sexually active (started late...4th term at uni). I'm not counting youthful messing about, I mean full sex.

This doesn't seem so many to me and obv its going to depend when you became monogamous anyway. But, I have seen articles that suggest a much lower figure, eg 7 for men 4 for women.

Am I a bit of a slapper (which I would be fine with, I enjoyed it) or are all these people just lying? I think the latter, because judging by who I have spoken to 14 is much more typical than 4.

42 year old here. Interesting as I can't believe I am sat at my desk at work doing this started writing it down to try and remember. Started well with teenage long romances, Uni engagement, long term relationship in early 20s. Then I kicked all that to the kerb in my late 20's and had a right old time for 5 years.

This is a really interesting thread and you are all much more interesting/adventurous than my RL friends, I set up a hen night game for a close friend of mine (due to the fact that we were both in long term relationships and had DCs we never discussed previous sexual partners) and it turned out she had only had 2 boyfriends ever and had only slept with her fiance. It ruined my game - it was most disappointing

I have one friend who was adventurous in her younger days and after lots of tequilla we (within our group of friends) had a chat about our younger days - the others were quite shocked whereas we assumed it was normal!

I agree MadameCupcake nearly all of my Uni friends settled down with their Uni boyfriends into a happily ever after scenario.

They had a few flings in college but not a lot else. I would definitely stand out from the crowd. Not that they judge actually.

But I definitely thought the majority of women were like them, not me, and everyone would be a 4/0 ave at 35 years of age!

So obviously some people are good at keeping it really private and discreet, or I just have very lucky mates.

I am glad I didn't settle down too young, I experienced loads of stuff so when I met my DH when I was 25 (he was quite a bit older) we were perfect for each other. He'd done all his travelling etc and I had experienced life so we felt ready for settling down.

I am not sure how I would have felt if I had married the first person I slept with (well I'm guessing I would remember his name for starters!)

Cupcake - I agree - although only 23 I couldnt see myself settling down with no1. Im still single and want to have some 'fun' before I settle down

I like to think DH was a virgin when he met me of course though (he was 38)

some research on professional women said most had slept with 11 men by the age of 30/ (they are late marriers)
