Hello, tis me, mouse Smile

Welcome to The Brave Babes Battle Bus, grab yourself a seat, they're really comfy and a Brew, oh and a home-made chocolate chip Biscuit before they all get eaten!

We're a Bus full of alcohol abusers/addicts, some of us say it out loud, some whisper it and some aren't ready to say it at all just yet.

That said, there are a few of us who just have the occasional drink and that's something that they can handle. There are a few of us who must NEVER have another drink because that first one will lead to many, many more which will only ever end badly.

We're open to all....there are no requirements to join us on our journey to sobriety, there's support, great laughs, tears and tantrums here and that's just me!!! Grin

If you have children, go and find them and hold them tight.
I just received this email from my friend in USA. Alex is her 15 year old daughter.

"It will never be ok again
Alex hung herself last night. My sister is here, Chris will be home this afternoon...

NoNoNoMYDoIt · 22/08/2012 14:36

jesuswhatnext · 22/08/2012 14:38

ma - thinking of you and your friend!

Greyhound · 22/08/2012 14:42

Oh MA what dreadful news. I am so sorry to hear this.

Mouseface · 22/08/2012 14:42

Afternoon, tis me, Mouse

Sorry not to read back, selfish post alert.

At around 6am I started to feel pain. Pain like I have never felt before. I couldn't move to reach across to DH to wake him to ask for help.

Nemo woke but went back to sleep thank Jeff just after.

Around 8:20am he woke again and luckily I could reach DH to get him to go to him. I couldn't move and lay sobbing in bed until DH managed to get my pain meds. So far I've taken 3x co-codamol (30/500), about 60mls of Oramorph which is a massive dose, 2x 400mg ibuprofen, 1x amatriptyline, 3x diazepam (6mg) and called the GP.

He's said it's spasms and has put me on regular doses of diazepam, plus my other meds. The pain just radiates across my back, hips and down my legs.

I managed to get up after an hour of trying, and having a hot water bottle strapped to my lower back. Thank Jeff that my walking frame was at hand to help.

DD has just made me some lunch and Nemo too and is just amazing in situations like these. She just clicks into helper mode. She amazes me with her selflessness.

I thought of vodka, to help pump up the affect of the pain. Anyway, I'm okay for now, I have the best nurse ever and I'm being 'monitored' by the GP, hey call every few hour so I'm staying put for now as there's just nothing that they can do.

Sorry to just post that but I need to get it our of my head and in black and white on here. I wanted to let you all know what was going on incase my posts were incoherent, which this one was until DD edited it for me Blush

Can I last 18-24months? There's no warning or pattern, it just happens.

Anyway, big WELL DONE to those who have abstained. Obrigada - you especially xx

Sorry to post under Ma's awful news, but just wanted to reply to Fairenuff:

Faire - I've been on the bottle for about three weeks. I have not been trying hard enough.

I was doing some research into how wine is marketed at women. If you look up the website for Echo Falls wine, you will see exactly what I mean. The website is f*cking PINK for a start and full of videos about how life becomes better when you have a glass of wine in your hand. What interests me is that the message given is that it is okay and normal for women to drink at home. The woman in the film has all her girlie friends over for a night in and, of course, the main feature of the evening is WINE.

Wine and vodka - marketed towards women.

Beer and whiskey - aimed at men.

Bacardi - young people of mixed sex. It's a 'party' drink.

Gin - I've not seen an ad for gin lately but I expect it is marketed at women.

Alcopops - marketed at young people. WKD is marketed at young 'lads'.

Greyhound · 22/08/2012 14:46

Bloody hell, Mouse, that sounds horrific. Just horrific.

Mouseface · 22/08/2012 14:48

Ma - I am so so so sorry to be waffling on about my shit and you're going through.

Sorry Sad xx

oh mouse you poor thing! please dont add voddy to the mix.
Thank you for the posts. Please hold Alex's mother Stef in your thoughts tonight.

Greyhound · 22/08/2012 14:52

Stef and Alex will be in my thoughts. My sister committed suicide some years back - it's not something you really ever come to terms with.

obrigada · 22/08/2012 14:58

Ma, will light a candle this evening for Stef and Alex:(
Mouse, just can't imagine coping with the pain you have to cope with daily:(
Greyhound, sorry to hear about your sister:(

Lellipops · 22/08/2012 15:01

ma how dreadful to get such bad news. Will be hugging my two daughters extra tight this evening. Sad

mouse the pain sounds awful. Thank goodness you have such a supportive family. Hope it settles down and you can get a bit more comfortable very soon.

Greyhound Hello Smile I totally agree with you about the pressure of alcohol marketing these days. It's so acceptable to "have a few glasses" to ease the strain of modern life and so many people I know use it as a crutch in their lives. I had such a love/hate relationship with wine especially (until a few weeks ago).

thurso1 · 22/08/2012 16:08

Oh Ma What a terrible thing, your friend, her daughter and family will be in my thoughts.

Mouse Sending you soft, soothing, warm waves through the air. Please don't add alcohol to that mix of painkillers, however tempting.
