.............. sorry, ran out of ideas tonight! Grin

Hello, tis me, Mouse and I have a very abusive relationship with alcohol, vodka in particular.

Welcome to the Battle Bus, full of totally Brave Babes all on their own personal journey to sobriety. Some are there, some are still on their way and some aren't quite ready yet but stay on the Bus for a good old natter Smile

Wherever you are in your quest to get back control of your drinking, we've all been there too so you're not alone, not by a long shot.

Come take a seat and say hello.

If you'd like to know the history behind this amazing journey, you can follow the links back HERE

See you soon Smile x

Thanks for that advice, Mouse. As part of my new regime I am now a demon exfoliating and moisturising person. So much so that I used a pumice stone on my knees and elbows as well yesterday and have the sort of minor injuries usually associated with a drinking session the night before Hmm

dementedma · 09/05/2012 21:48

would normally be off to bed but have to wait to pick DD up later on so just whiling away the time....
Thurso how are things old girl?
mia that last sentence of yours resonated with me
mouse give nemo a squeeze from me

Tristessa · 09/05/2012 21:48

Night Soma

chasingtail · 09/05/2012 21:48

Thanks Mia & hope I didn't sound flippant asking the question.

I am at a bit of a crossroads at the moment and need to start considering if I could perhaps manage some controlled drinking (I.e for the RIGHT reasons such as you listed) or I need to permanently steer clear.

dementedma · 09/05/2012 21:49

Tristessa x-posted. When it comes to exfoliating, nothing, but NOTHING, beats a Buffy the Backside Slayer Bar from Lush. You MUST get one...Grin

NonAstemia · 09/05/2012 21:49

Trouble is Ma, that's when I can't resist the craving.

Sunnywithachanceofshowers · 09/05/2012 21:50

Sorry Tristessa but that made me giggle. I hope your elbows and knees get better soon.

Night Babes, sleep well x

Fairenuff · 09/05/2012 21:50

Holy Knickers Batman! We seem to have gone underwear crazy on the bus these days Grin

Truth I second the idea of getting out for a walk. Even if it's windy and raining, a good old stomp will blow the proverbial cobwebs away, clear your mind and make you feel fresh and energised. Well, either that or you will be soaked and knackered Confused Grin

NonAstemia · 09/05/2012 21:53

Chasing I kept thinking 'oh I just want to be able to drink like a normal person...' but then so many people that I told I was worried about my drinking and trying to cut down/out told me that they are worried about their drinking too! So what is drinking like a 'normal' person?

chasingtail · 09/05/2012 21:53

Bought a naaice pair from Ann Summers t'other day! First time in that shop - quite a revelation! Blush

Fairenuff · 09/05/2012 21:59

My dh is a normal drinker. Most days he doesn't drink. If he does, one glass of red will last him all evening, or one pint of beer. If we go out he usually drives and so again, has one drink.

If he has a lift, he will have up to four pints over a long evening. Very occasionally he will get a bit 'tipsy' but has only been properly drunk probably twice in the last 20 years.

Tristessa · 09/05/2012 22:02

demented, you owe me an N&T and a new laptop screen - Buffy the Backside Slayer?! Even DH is giggling Grin Will be going to Lush on Saturday!

dementedma · 09/05/2012 22:11

Grin it's really called that - or maybe now it's just a Buffy bar but that was it's orginal name - honestly. it does a brilliant job, not just on backsides.

Oh and another one here who needs new knickers. Could someone kindly drive the bus to a lingerie shop for nice lacy wisps for jesus (that feels SO wrong to type) and some more sturdy underpinnings for those of us who are slightly more well upholstered?

NonAstemia · 09/05/2012 22:12

My backside could do with some slaying - I think I need to get me down to Lush...

Faire that's just how my DstepF is. And my DM, for that matter. Sadly I seem to have inherited my drinking genes from the paternal side. I don't know if I could ever be that 'normal' drinker. Sad

NonAstemia · 09/05/2012 22:17

Grin at lacy wisps for Jesus Grin

Is it an age thing that the knickers I buy are getting progressively larger? I've never been a thong gal, but I've gone from bikini briefs through to the low slung shorty things and now I've ventured into midi territory, all my old pants just seem too insubstantial. God I'm getting old. Hmm Doesn't help that I live next door to the most glamorous MILF who is older than me but a glamorous exercise junkie who's incredibly buff and often has a lacy thong peeping from her trousers. Envy

Mouseface · 09/05/2012 22:23

All this talk of backside buffing is making me snigger and DH has just given me a Hmm look Grin

MA!!!!!!!!!!!!!! - how are you lovely? Other than talking about lathering products Grin Is DD home from Spain now? Which DD is away now or are they both home?

Right you saucy lot, I'm off to Bedfordshire for the night shift. Nemo's cough is worsened by the paint fumes but we buy the low fume stuff, open doors and windows...... nothing helps.

Oh, and I've lost a stone in total from the start of my diet Smile

Night night all, xx

Mia

Normal drinker? There's no such thing these days in my book...... an occasional drinker, a social drinker, yes.

'Normal'? What is that anyway? 'Controlled' is a more appropriate word in this day and age. Smile

You did bloody great tonight my lovely. Great! xx

jesuswhatnext · 09/05/2012 22:30

Grin dont be fooled! i need some sturdy underpinnings! Blush my days of thongs are long gone! Sad am heading towards 'harvest festivals' at a rate of knots Blush

seriously, all this talk of new knickers, tanning, general taking care of ourselves, ime, 'selfcare' is one of the things that gets left behind when the drinks starts to take over - it brings down self respect, self esteem and makes one feel pretty worthless - i know it can feel like such a struggle, especially in the early days, but honestly, fight through it, regain some of the person you once were, get dressed every day, look as good as you can, tidy the house, get out in the air, small steps end up become huge ones, just try and fight negativity when it hits you and the rest will follow!

Mouseface · 09/05/2012 22:33

Jesus - one of my GBF (gay best friends) says that older ladies (cheeky sod that he is), shouldn't wear G-strings unless they're prepared to whistle as they walk!

(Imagine a blade of grass between your thumbs to make a whistle) Grin

I am really going now. xx

OP posts:
helpyourself · 09/05/2012 22:34

I think you mean pants. I'm so straight laced I don't even like knickers. And pant*s, the scuzziest word in the English language.

Right off to bed for me- big glasses of water all round.

jesuswhatnext · 09/05/2012 22:39

sorry help, im old! Grin menz wear pants, i wears knickers - hairy arsed truckers are the only people who use the word 'panties' [boak]! Grin

NonAstemia · 09/05/2012 22:47

Mouse I'm sure my neighbour's thong wouldn't whistle; her buttocks are, judging by the visible parts of her, those of a teenager.

horribletruth · 10/05/2012 07:37

Morning Babes
I have just woken after 8.5 hours sleep Shock Can't remember the last time I slept that long. Have woken with a splitting headache though.
Am going to get a cup of fruit tea then make a list of what I am going to do today.
x

Hopefullyrecovering · 10/05/2012 07:45

Sleeping properly is amazing, isn't it? HT have you tried some vitamin B supplements? The addiction centre I go to prescribed me with lots of them (9 tablets a day for 2/3 weeks), because apparently drinking so much suppresses all the vit B you would take in naturally.

Glad you are recovering your boing!
