Why men like stockings and suspenders?

Had a chat with DP last night and he cannot explain why men like women in stockings and suspenders. I do not know the answer so I thought that here in mumsnet someone would come and helps us discover why.

He is not sure either but thinks it is sexy but he does not know why.

Anyone out there to help us please?

Each and every one of you lovely peeps has kind of hit the nail on the head why men love the stocking/Hold up.
Personally, for me, it's because men are a visual animal, yes a social animal but the law of nature makes us visually attracted to whatever the prey is. Me personally in my past vocations I always had huge rough-skinned hands and when it came to the intimacy of a personal touch of the fabric such as a sheer nylon it would melt me into that chocolate box heaven.
Furthermore, the colour and shape it adds to a woman's leg again is a visual stimulus.
Overall it's epitomises true femininity with grace, sophistication and sexually appealing.

Zombie I know, but I can't believe someone wrote this :

Prey?? You see women as 'prey'? 🤮

Because in our society, they are shorthand for femininity - i.e. compliance with patriarchal norms of women as sex objects for men.

HTH.

I agree. If a woman voluntarily puts this clothing on, it signals to a man that she will make a real effort to please him. This will cheer a man up no end.

Any men out there that wants to come and express an opinion?

Man here. Not interested in suspenders or stockings in themselves, as it's too much of a cliched look, but a leg covering ending above the knee along with some nice pants frames the area in a pleasing way, and with the natural taper of the thighs directs the eyes.

Long socks or pull-ups would probably look better, for me 🙂

Speak for yourself. Nothing turns me off more than a woman in stocking and suspenders. That Cher video put me off for life......

Of all the zombie threads, this is the zombiest.

It will never truly die. Because men's love for stockings and suspenders will never truly die.

Even though it's probably mostly men buying and wearing them these days.
