Had a chat with DP last night and he cannot explain why men like women in stockings and suspenders. I do not know the answer so I thought that here in mumsnet someone would come and helps us discover why.
He is not sure either but thinks it is sexy but he does not know why.
Anyone out there to help us please?

Chiming in as a bloke, albeit an Aussie one... They do nothing for me. I've never found stockings, suspenders or high heels in any way attractive. Boots with a bit of a chunky heel or wedge sandals to give a bit of extra height are fine, but the standard high heels are a turnoff. Mind you I'm not a big fan of make-up either, so maybe I just prefer a more casual look?

Wow really?, I don't quite understand why men have to be tagged the way they are because they like how a woman looks when they dress in certain things. And I for one don't stereo type women as sex objects. Stockings just look good and it's the allure of where they lead to. I also like a woman in jeans and a white t-shirt, My wife wears stockings for bedtime fun, but it's because she wants to, not because I tell her to. She knows I like them, it's not all the time, just when she wants to. I cook certain foods for the wife because she likes them, I don't cook her food she hates because she shouldn't choose what is on the plate, and dare to tell me she likes. Come on get real, I understand there are men(and women) who look at things in a controlling way, and men aren't just animals, yes some are horrible oxygen theives, but please don't tar us all with the same brush. Some of us like things simply because we do, and don't force those likes and desires on people.

Because in our society, they are shorthand for femininity - i.e. compliance with patriarchal norms of women as sex objects for men.
