Why men like stockings and suspenders?

Had a chat with DP last night and he cannot explain why men like women in stockings and suspenders. I do not know the answer so I thought that here in mumsnet someone would come and helps us discover why.

He is not sure either but thinks it is sexy but he does not know why.

Anyone out there to help us please?

Im not really too bothered about the full kits i.e stockings and suspenders but i do find lace topped hold ups very attractive. I think part of it is the naughtiness that can be had if a lady chooses to go out without her panties and just wears a dress or skirt. She can tease perhaps by flashing, or invite you to touch her,,

Each and every one of you lovely peeps has kind of hit the nail on the head why men love the stocking/Hold up.
Personally, for me, it's because men are a visual animal, yes a social animal but the law of nature makes us visually attracted to whatever the prey is. Me personally in my past vocations I always had huge rough-skinned hands and when it came to the intimacy of a personal touch of the fabric such as a sheer nylon it would melt me into that chocolate box heaven.
Furthermore, the colour and shape it adds to a woman's leg again is a visual stimulus.
Overall it's epitomises true femininity with grace, sophistication and sexually appealing.

I can appreciate threads being locked and old topis popping back up to haunt previous commentators but spare a thought for people who may have just joined MN and might want to contribute to the discussion or have something of value to say.
My way of looking at things stems from the Mary Whitehouse philosophy of appropriateness, rather not tell everyone else what you particularly think of a subject/thread and what should be done with it but rather look away and let those who do want to keep on contributing get on with it. As a wise man once said 'let thy neighbour do his own business whilst you tend to your own.'

My fiancé isn’t interested in sexy underwear, I wear nice pants and bras but that’s as far as it goes! He said he’s not bothered about dressing up for sex as it comes off very quickly and he prefers a naked body!

DP prefers me naked but I love how I look in stockings and suspenders!

My partner is completely inanimate tonight. I asked him if he liked them and he said yes. I asked him why and he said dunno.

I wear stocking and suspenders for me. For completely practical reasons. The suspender belts are definitely not sexy at all, they are comfortable, and the stockings are neither sheer or fishnet, etc.

I haven't worn tights for such a long time.

I wear stockings and suspenders. Not the cheap plastic crap proper metal clasps. Love finding vintage stockings. My husband is the fan and I wore to please him but now for the last 3 year's since turning 32 I have been a permanent wearer. I love them. They are classy. Fantastic sex life. And I have fucking brilliant legs making up for the mummy jelly belly lol. Men love legs. Feet (not my hubby) heels. A bit of colour on legs.... He finds it sexy makes me feel sexy. Sadly he is currently battling advanced stage cancer so everything is in hold bug he told me he is looking forward to appreciating me wearing them for him again.

Some of reasons behind a mans prospective on stockings seem daft and sometimes the feminist card gets played, hands up ladies who likes a man in a silk tie and cuff links etc, it’s sophistication/ detail etc, you don’t get that with putting all on show and tattoos, not quite the same

Maybe because it's sort of "under"wear that not everyone gets to see, especially at the thighs so it's almost like lingerie. Also, possibly as it reveals a little (shape etc.) without revealing all so it's a bit of a tease?

I wear hold stockings everyday with the approval of my wife, its the smooth nylon which grips your legs and makes them feel so soft. Don't get me wrong I am not at all feminine quite the opposite but it is nice to wear soft and silky things after all there are supposed to be no barriers in society nowadays
