Hello, I'm Mouse

Welcome to the Brave Babes Bus where you'll find a mix of drinker, non drinkers, those who has been sober for a long time, and those who are getting there One Day At A Time.

Come and say hi....... we won't bite Wink

And if you want to know how this all got started, HERE is a link to the previous threads. Smile

I probably drink 1.5 bottles of wine every night. The nights I abstain I get vile night sweats which scares me. I did 4 weeks dry once and I did so much with the kids it upsets me to think I'm not giving them the best childhood all for my nightly ritual of getting drunk..

Sunnywithachanceofshowers · 02/04/2012 16:59

Hi Lola welcome to the bus. x

Lolabelle · 02/04/2012 17:02

Mouseface · 02/04/2012 17:16

HR - your story is amazing and you're a real inspiration to the Bus, well done on getting as far as you have after all that you faced. Smile

venus - I've been sober a lot more nights than not of late. You'd be proud of me I think. I need to put on my big girl pants, pull them up and get on with it. Smile

IsinDe - my lovely lady, I'm sorry that you're facing issues re your wedding xx

MsGee - you sound so much brighter in your posts, it's lovely to see Smile

Silver - I hope you are okay, and that mum is settled today xx

Thurso - xx

Ma - xx

Hello to all other Babes, have some snogs xx

Hello to all Babes- lovely and sunny here, and car fixed for free, hurrah!
Lola do you have a plan for tonight?

Greyhound · 02/04/2012 17:24

Day one for me and I'm ok. Right now, I'd be on my second glass. Had anxiety and cravings earlier but I don't feel that now. One of the things that is keeping me going is thinking of all the nasty rubbish that goes into the horrible, cheap blended plonk I buy in 3 for a tenner deals. The thought of actually sleeping without waking up to drink pints of water and wondering if dh can smell the fumes on me.

Fairenuff · 02/04/2012 17:36

Greyhound I used to sleep with bottled water and paracetamol on the bedside cabinet. Yuck. Hasn't been there for months now. I don't need it. The memories of those days haven't faded enough to tempt me back, thankfully.

Lola welcome to the bus. I think night sweats are one of the lovely side effects of alcohol, along with red veins, yellow eyes, dry bloated skin . . . all reversible. You just need to see that hangover through to it's bitter end. You should start to feel better after a few days.

Hey mouse, great to see you again. Any decisions on your op yet? Have a lovely time at the zoo. My dd took her first steps at a zoo. I said 'I just want to take a photo of you in front of the giraffes' and she said 'Ok', got up and toddled over there. I was like this Shock Grin. Ah happy memories Smile.

dementedma · 02/04/2012 19:06

hey lola you are very welcome here
greyhound day 1 for me too. Been thinking about drinking since about 5pm but doing it in half hours. Right now I mght have a drink at 7.30 - but hopefully not.
mouse DS is bored too and it is only Day 1. Tomorrow we have snow forecast and Wednesday I have to stay in all day to wait for a parcel, so he's not having a fun week. Taking him to Science Museum on Thursday though.
Wish I could stop this bloody COUGH!!!

Mouseface · 02/04/2012 19:29

Ma - oh no, coughs are hell. DH seems to get a really dangerous cough on a regular basis.... in fact, it's murderous. As in when he's there, barking his head off, he runs the risk of me murdering him Shock Grin.

We've got snow forecast for Wednesday, which is a nightmare really, given that we've just had a week of 20 degrees plus and bright blue skies. I LOVE the Science Museums, they have a good one in Manchester, I think that's our nearest now. I hope you have a nice time. We've just spoken to the friends that we're going with, apparently, they are the King and Queen of packed lunches.

I refuse to pay £££ for a burger or stale sarnie.

Faire - what a lovely memory to have of her first steps, and how clever is she doing that? Smile

No more news on the back op, it's going to be a few months before I even get an appt but the new meds are working so I am managing to get through most days without sobbing with pain. Now I just have to remember to take them Hmm

Lola - all of the symptoms that Faire has listed are the side effects of broken, light, disjointed sleep from the lack of alcohol. I hate that kind of sleep. Sleep is such a luxury to me, that every moment has to be savoured.

Maybe your children are a strong enough reason to stop being hungover? Nemo was my lightbulb moment. Blush

Find yourself a nice, comfy seat. Great to have you aboard Smile

7.30. lime and soda, lime and soda, lime and soda.........
going for a bath.

MsGee · 02/04/2012 19:41

ma have the bath and lime and soda. You will feel better.

Do you have a nice crap novel to read too?

One thing I have re-discovered in the last week is my love of pottering! I really enjoy coming down from putting DD to bed and (now that I am not clutching the wine) faffing about in the kitchen, tidying up and sorting things out.

Tonight I am going to work, then I will be having a bath and downloading a new book on my kindle - something light and crap and delicious to read - any ideas? I have decided to treat myself given that I have saved about £40 in the last 9 days!

dementedma · 02/04/2012 20:08

8 o clock. another half hour gone.
sucking throat sweet and hoping the taste will take away the craving.....

MsGee · 02/04/2012 20:12

ma you can do this.

book?

baking?

pottering?

tidying a cupboard?

Greyhound · 02/04/2012 20:15

Thanks all - still off the booze and drinking loads of water. God, I must be so dehydrated. If I can even only drink every other night that would be progress.

I don't feel wonderful - I've been here before and quickly lapsed.

One problem is that my life is incredibly dull. Dh never suggests doing anything. He doesn't ever sit with me in the evenings. One of the reasons I drink is to cope with the boredom. It's not just his fault, we've both got into bad habits.

Maybe if I sober up it will improve my marriage.

Greyhound · 02/04/2012 20:16

Good luck MA!

dementedma · 02/04/2012 20:19

oh *greyhound" I hear you! Life dull and I drink out of boredom here too. Football on tv as usual. If I go to bed now I will wake up in the wee small hours and be awake from then on so trying to stay up..
MsGee thanks for the support - am MNing. Haven't energy to bake or potter tonight. Tidying is on the list for tomorrow.
Might have another lime and soda if i can bear it.

chasingtail · 02/04/2012 20:25

Greyhound know what you mean re. isolated evenings. Myself and DH got stuck in rut of drinking seperately, eating seperately, watching tv in seperate rooms etc... In the 9 days without wine check it out, 9 DAYS!!!, although we still tend to do our own thing of an evening what with me being Mrs Manic house cleaner woman Grin, at least we mange to have a proper conversation before/at bedtime, as opposed to me pratically passing out at 9pm. Small steps but already feel like things are shifting. Keep at it Smile.

chasingtail · 02/04/2012 20:26

Mange??? Manage!!

Fairenuff · 02/04/2012 20:30

Ma try it with crushed ice if you've got any and actual slices of fruit. Makes it a little more interesting. Or switch to hot fruit drinks now.

Well done for resisting. I often use computer games to while away the hours if I need to. Don't mind going out for a bit if it's light but what on earth can you do at this time of night if you want to avoid alcohol?

Actually, I think the gym is open Grin.

HorsesDogsNails · 02/04/2012 20:33

C'mon Ma you can do this, would a hot drink be better? Hot chocolate? Tea? Hot ribena (my late nana's answer to any problem!)? Football on here as well, I shall hide behind my laptop and pretend to listen......

Fairenuff · 02/04/2012 20:42

I am eternally grateful that my dh has zero interest in sports. He wouldn't even be able to tell you how many players on a football team, doesn't know the first thing about rugby and never watches any sport on telly.

He does play a little golf but usually only because it's occasionally done as a 'treat day' at work, with clients and he doesn't want to look a complete tit in front of everyone Grin.

He's quite fit, cycles a lot, goes swimming, plays squash, etc. but I am not subjected to all the matches on tv so sympathies to those who are.

I'm surprised to hear some of you talk of snow! I must check the forecast for the weekend. Looking forward to egg hunt on Sunday but it might have to be indoors this year.

Mouseface · 02/04/2012 20:46

Ma - It's Monday. This Monday you WILL NOT DRINK because you really don't need to. You may want to but you won't expire if you don't. You may if you do.

YOU DON'T NEED TO DRINK do it for you Ma xx

OP posts:
Mouseface · 02/04/2012 20:48

HERE is the new thread. Please can we fill this one up first so that we don't leave anyone behind?

That means YOU Silver Grin

Ma - how about going to bed earlier? Get in bed and read? Would that help? How are you feeling now? xx

OP posts:
Sunnywithachanceofshowers · 02/04/2012 21:01

ma hang in there gorgeous xx

blanket you sound terrific, keep it up :)

Silver hope you are okay?

Chasing 9 days! Fanbloodytastic. I know what you mean about the boredom thing, me and DH are in a rut with that too.

Greyhound I hope your dehydration is getting better?

Big hugs and kisses to Faire, Horses, MsGee and all the other babes.

Another sober night in the bag. Woot! On the downside, I appear to have mild food poisoning on top of my coldy/laryngitis thing. I must have caught it from the poo thread :)

dementedma · 02/04/2012 21:06

thanks all. 9 o clock now so think I am safe for the night.
think will make a hot drink, hot water bottle and cough my way off to bed.
I did itGrin. WE did it Grin
