The Brave Babes Battle Bus - New Year, New Start, The Journey So Far.........

Hello, I'm Mouse Smile

Welcome. There are all kinds of lovely Babes on board this Bus, drinkers, non-drinkers, part-time drinkers and those who have no idea what they are when it comes to drinking. Some are newer posters and some have been here forever for a little while. Wink

Come and say hi, there are no rules, no 'must haves', just plenty of open and honest support.

You can talk about whatever you like. Your life, your love or even your laundry. We've seen it all! Grin

The important thing is that you can post if you want to, or not if you don't. There are posters in AA and posters who are using medication to beat The Booze and of course posters who are just trying to cut their drinking down with the support of The Bus and the people around them.

We're always here Trinity, and you're always welcome xx

TrinityRhino · 21/02/2012 17:59

Its rude and unfair on you other real brave babes though isn't it Sad

I'm not drinking tonight

but I did drink last night , too much, hurt my arm (not badly) and ended up arguing with dp

feel very ashamed

TrinityRhino · 21/02/2012 18:00

I'm still failing everyone

JugglingWithTangentialOranges · 21/02/2012 18:04

mouse says everyone's welcome on board and it's her bus !

It would be a lot quieter on board if the only people allowed on were confirmed alcoholics who never slipped up with drinking Trinity

QuietOhSoQuiet · 21/02/2012 18:46

Trinity I am really really struggling this evening, that's why I have jumped on as I am right on the verge, very very irritable and fidgety,so in all honesty I may slip before long as right at this moment in time my resolve is weakening

my ds is driving me to the brink of insanity and I just want to not feel all the noise, drink will make it all go away but so much worse at the same time

Onesunnymorningin2012 · 21/02/2012 19:00

Trinity you are NOT failing. I got legless last night despite knowing that I had an important meeting at work today. (Or perhaps because of it...)

I am not drinking today, and I'm hanging on to that. And like Juggling said we're all welcome. Some of us are drinking, some are not drinking, some are in AA and some aren't.

Hang in there lovely. xxxx

Quiet wishing you a peaceful evening.

Silly thanks for your kind words. Thankfully I'm no longer a smoker (not for about 6 years) and don't ever want to smoke again. I do struggle with binge eating, which of course is not helped by caning the wine which makes me want to eat more, and hangover eating.

dementedma · 21/02/2012 20:12

trinity I have been on this here bus for about 18 months. Tonight, as I type,I have a glass of wine next to me. Failure? probably in some people's eyes.Often in my own eyes. but I'm still here, still aware of my drinking issues, still trying to help myself and help others if I can. Yes, some of the wonderful Babes here have become long term sober - they are stars! But many of the Babes are still drinking, still struggling, still battling - they are stars too.
This bus has passengers all on the same journey, but all on different routes - sometimes it's one step forwards, or two steps to the side, or three steps back. sometimes we fall off the bus in spectacular style and lie in the gutter flashing our knickers and our shame to all and sundry. But no-one gets left behind, or is abandoned. We are all expert at scooping up a fallen Babe and holding the sick bucket. Like Hotel California "you can check out anytime you like but you can never leave". the fact you are here is enough for tonight.
tomorrow is another day. And the bus trundles on, on its long and tortuous journey and you, Trinity , are going nowhere without the rest of us!!

Fairenuff · 21/02/2012 20:22

How are you doing Quiet did you give in to the urge? Those are the times when we have to take it one minute at a time and use all the strategies we know to stop picking up that first drink. If you can resist, the urge usually goes after 30 - 60 minutes but it seems like a long time when you're in the thick of it.

Trinity it will come, my lovely, with practice. Anything worth achieving is worth trying for again and again. Each time you 'fail' (your words, not mine Wink) you learn a little about yourself, your triggers, your drinking patterns. This is a personal journey for all of us. We can travel together and support each other but ultimately we all need to do a little bit on our own. Be kind to yourself, forgive yourself and get right back on it Smile.

Fairenuff · 21/02/2012 20:24

Ooh ma look, we both said the same thing about travelling together - must be true then Grin.

Yeah I wanna be a bad boy too. I'm fed up with all this goody-two-shoes nonsense.

Only I must just make sure that we all wear our helmets and safety goggles. And fasten our seatbelts. And keep our hands inside the sidecar. And no speeding. Or flashing at passers by . . .

Dammit, I'm just not cut out to be a hells angel am I? Grin
