Hello.

Welcome to The Brave Babes Battle Bus. Smile

I'm mouse and I have an abusive relationship with alcohol. I can't have just the one drink, ever.

I'm not alone here, there are Babes who are sober and have been for some time, Babes who are still drinking and trying their best to stop or cut down and then there are Babes who aren't ready to stop drinking. Yet.

So, why not come and say hi?

No judgy pants allowed on here I'm afraid, cakes and cheeses are! Grin

And for those who want to know a bit more about the Bus, HERE is our journey so far.

My ds has had hand-me-down's from my friend's son for years. My dd gets them from a work colleague's daughter. And when they grow out we have other friends to pass them on to. None of us are single mums but we all love receiving these 'goodie' bags. We get to share some lovely stuff and save money to spend on other things instead. Especially things like coats which can cost loads when new but they grow out of after one season of wear.

venusandmars · 30/09/2011 21:08

OK, anyone who is bored this evening, and who has got tired of the whole on-line jigsaw stuff, I've got a new distraction for you.....

Go to this site: www.morphthing.com/

You can upload a photo of yourself and your dh/or anyone else that you fancy and combine your faces! You just click on the key face parts (eyebrow points, eyes, nose, lips, chin etc) and morph....

Better than drinking, I promise x

swallowedAfly · 30/09/2011 21:11

oh i've read the rest Sad

i'm so sorry legal - i don't see you like that at all! it was me feeling like an idiot for making a mistake over the coat (and looking like a grabby person) so trying to cover my embarrassment with humour and managing to be insulting instead which is my ineptitude at social skills not yours! i was really chuffed you offered me stuff for ds honestly.

i love hand me downs - ds has had from a cousin by the binbag full when they come to visit (always good as they spend a fortune on clothes and this was the only way ds got to wear designer gear as a baby but that source seems to have run dry now - think clothes get more of a wear to the death when they go up year by year instead of every few months size wise) and from my sisters boys and from a friend who has a boy 2 years older than ds. i struggle to hand mine on as don't have many younger boys around me - a friend has had a baby boy though and moved back to nearby so i'm hoping to give lots to her - especially good quality coats and woolens that i'd hate to waste.

oh god i feel awful! but suspect if i keep digging i will make it worse! Grin

dementedma · 30/09/2011 21:13

lol at planet of the apes link - I wish I looked like her. I look more like one of the apes. Must try that morph thing. Wonder if I morph me and DH if I will get the kids....

swallowedAfly · 30/09/2011 21:14

AND i'd actually have been chuffed if you WERE offering me a coat! i love hand me downs for me too. i seriously would never take issue with it hence me joking about it because it didn't even occur to me that anyone would take me seriously.

i love getting other people's clothes because it means i try things that i would probably not have bought for myself but then try on and like.

ok - i am shutting up now.

day 7 done Smile

Mouseface · 30/09/2011 21:21

For the record, Nemo's clothes, all of them are hand me down from my friend. The are all good quality and not designer but nice. I love hand me downs as that's what I grew up with.

And so did DD. Smile

Day 9 done and dusted. I'm offski so will say a huge night night to all of you BraveBabes.

Mwahs to you all. Be back tomorrow at some point but we are going HERE for a lovely walk, check out the gallery.

Night all xxxxxxx

dementedma · 30/09/2011 21:28

fairenuff - I'm sure you will come out from under your mask even more gorgeous that before.
Now I am going to try and erase DDs weary face from my mind, and surf for posh frocks. Got a black tie dinner in one month and need to lose a stone and find a dress that won't make me look like a bloke in drag. And it must be cheap.
hand me downs gratefully accepted Grin

Fairenuff · 30/09/2011 21:37

Mouse looks amazing. I am Envy.

We are going to go to the coast tomorrow late afternoon/evening then on Sunday to visit MIL who is out of hospital after bone marrow transplant and feeling really well and up to visitors.

This unexpected 'indian summer' has done us all the world of good I feel. We are grabbing every precious sober moment and s'all good. Smile

venusandmars · 01/10/2011 09:20

Morning Babes. Who has lovely things planned for the weekend?

notevenamousie · 01/10/2011 09:21

Morning all!! Boing!!
Hope everyone had a good night's sleep and have good days today. If you are feeling rough or wobbly or doubtful, come and post here, it's a lovely safe place. We're off to the beach today in this lovely weather - don't think I've ever put suncream on DD in October before Grin - sobriety is for enjoying :)

Fairenuff · 01/10/2011 09:23

The bus is silent. Empty. Where is everyone. But wait, what's that right at the back. I stare in horror into the blank glassy eyes of horridbabydoll Shock.

Run, Fairenuff, run . . .

Morning all,

I was awake at 6, in the pool at 7 Shock, I am still all over the place with no DC to be quiet for! I was going to sneaky out of bed, get dressed and go out, but,
Dh decided to come swimming with me today, joy Hmm, he's obviously trying (very Grin), but I love my solitary early morning swim, no talking, no thinking, just looking at the tree's and listening to the birds.

Ah well, it might tire him out (Ma Smile).

Crikey, it's like the middle of summer, and still only 10 o'clock.

Happy days all.
XXXXX

Mouseface · 01/10/2011 11:43

I am now on day 10! Seriously, day frickin 10! Shock

I never thought I could abstain again from the booze without an excuse, being pg, ill, in hospital etc.

I feel great every single morning! Nemo slept in his own bed, all night again and we woke up at 9.45am!

So, a lovely day out and then who knows for later. I love weekends without a hangover! Who knew eh? Grin

Morning all

Well, the indian summer seems to have deserted the east coast of Scotland!
Been out for a run this morning and came home absolutely dripping, the joys of running in the Scottish Driech Grin

DD and Fil have been to the tip this morning, and now she is pulling together a shopping list, for a Birthday cake for my mum, a Birthday cake for her father, and cupcakes for me and my sponsor for Monday.

I am planning on lying on the sofa doing as little as possible Grin

So all is good.

Have a great day all
Bafana
xx

Hi Dubs good to hear how things are going for you. I'm not one of the cool people - I'm up the front getting a good view of where we're going and trying not to get travel sick Grin

Welcome Dubs

Am enjoying lying on the sofa watching Downton Abbey. Hope it is as good as all the reviews have been!
DD is safely ensconced on the kitchen making me delicious things to eat! Life is good!

Onemorning · 01/10/2011 13:56

Hello all

It's been a bad week booze-wise and I realise I can't go on living like this. I don't remember going to bed last night, it's not the first time that's happened recently. I'm lucky nothing worse happened than an early night.

legalalien · 01/10/2011 14:07

Saf - it's all ok Grin. but you do need to pm me an address so that I can ship off the plastic tat ben 10 stuff before ds has a change of heart!

Welcome dubs.

I had 4 glasses if wine last night which was ok if not ideal. Now off to the library to copy readings for first week of lectures next week. Cross your fingers I get into the two capped classes I applied for....
