General internet dating support and chit chat thread

Relationships seems the most appropriate place for this I think? Happy to ask for it to be moved if it's maybe better in _chat or something.

Anyway!

Chit chat your dating/internet dating claptrap here!

Also your hints and tips please for dating in the shark pit on the internet

I'll start.

I'm 31, single and rather fed up of it now. Have a few internet dating profiles, am trying to improve my social life and get out more, even looking out for possible additional temp jobs just to be.... 'out there' a bit more.

Even had a go at cosmic ordering which has been cropping up in dating related threads recently. Now I'm a very scientific and cynical kind of person but when it comes to my (currently appalling) love life I will try anything to give it a bit of a boost. Whether that be focusing the mind on the task in hand or strange unknown forces I care not.

charlotte What time said. You have only had two dates with mr i need to pack and you need rest Grin its hardly two timing! You have fun! (highly detailed report)

Time I love people that can hold a conversation. Short answers, one sentance is just...a bit shit. There was one guy I was chatting to on POF for ages, he was brilliant! Definitely not relationship material but I would have happily made him a FWB Grin he could talk....sigh. Kinda miss his crack a little, he went all quiet on me a week or so ago. Probably found himself a lass!

stayforthekids1 · 28/09/2011 14:55

Sentence. Sentance. Sentence. Thats it. WTH is wrong with me today?! Its the heat.

TimeForMeIsFree · 28/09/2011 14:55

We could sleep on the beach, under the stars, as long as the tide is out Grin

stayforthekids1 · 28/09/2011 14:55

ooh and whoever is on my facebook you can now check out mr S ^^ pm me I will tell you the name Grin

TimeForMeIsFree · 28/09/2011 15:03

Grin you should have put that to him stay, I have chatted to guys who were definitely not what I am looking for in a partner but would have made great friends.

stayforthekids1 · 28/09/2011 15:05

I may have put it to him had I not started getting involved with S! He was pretty fit from his photos but maybe in the flesh he wouldnt have been...still...he had some great ideas for a scarf and some handcuffs Grin shame really.

lubeybooby · 28/09/2011 15:07

What is it with the bloody heat today? It's September fgs, why does it do this EVERY year? We have a rubbish summer but April, May and September are always HOT (on and off anyway unlike June and July) The seasons are all wonky. I could have done so much with today and with DD if it had been this weather in the summer hols.

Anyway rant over back to dating :o

Charlottes.. you go girl. You are so not tied to Mr Engineer after two dates especially with him being weird about a 3rd date.

Also just a little caution - the last time I was given 'packing' as an excuse not to be able to see me, I caught him the next day at the airport with another woman taking her on holiday... and that's not all. His supposed ex was waiting to catch him too. I recognised her from pics I had seen and asked her if she knew him and if she was going on holiday with him. She said no, but that he had PROPOSED to her the previous week. We showed each other texts and when he got there, confronted him. Me first, then her. I've never seen a man so scared in his whole life. This was a 7 month relationship by the way, and he now forever known as 'airport wanker' - and I'm still friends with his ex AND the woman he was taking on holiday with him. So yeah.. him 'packing' actually meant he had the OW at his house that night ready for the trip.

stay, that's by the boat-ramp slightly south of where I am. The beach is fairly flat down there, so that pic was taken at low tide and the beach is wide. At high tide it's only 10 metres wide at the most. If I get off my lard arse and go for walk I go a bit further north where the beach is 100 metres or so wide all the way along. Sellicks and Aldinga (next beach north) are two of the few beaches left here where you can drive your car onto the beach, but they're all nice and clean with soft white sand.

charlottesmum5 · 28/09/2011 16:06

Can we organise a Mumsnet meet in Australia lmao?

charlottesmum5 · 28/09/2011 16:10

stay I want to check out your Mr S but I can't remember your real name lol, out of the 3 of you that I added the other day!!

watchoutforthatsnail · 28/09/2011 16:10

poppa- that is lush.

stay - yes ,PM me

charlotte - course its not, unless you have had the exclusive conversation then anything goes, but remember this workds both ways.

In an onwards and upwards theme i have asked out this guy i was taking to a while back, but who we never got around to actually going out.

AND i have been contacted on okc, by this guy, whos profile appears to just be a non strings sex one. But who has been witty, clever and quite lovely. Who knows.

AND, since i changed my profile on pof i have been getting a fair few more moessages, ive had like 20 today, i usually get about 3/4 different ones a day. so, thanks!

stayforthekids1 · 28/09/2011 16:26

messaged you both :) watch that is fantastic, really pleased you have been getting more messages!

Papa Smurf Grin it sounds divine! I have never left the uk, but I lived in bournemouth for a while and just adored the beach. It doesnt look a patch on the one in your photo though!

TimeForMeIsFree · 28/09/2011 17:21

Oh wow PoppaRob, those beaches look divine. Just the place for a MN meet up! When did you say you were sending the tickets? Grin

Ooh I'm a little bit jealous of you having lived in Bournemouth stay, I would love to live near the coast, it's a dream of mine.

Good news watch Smile

I've just had a message on cupid from a guy with no photo but who messaged me earlier in the week. I didn't bother replying because his profile doesn't appeal. His latest message reads "Will you please talk to me!!!". Er, no! >

stayforthekids1 · 28/09/2011 17:24

I am sad I left really Time. I adored bournemouth. But it seemed the best idea at the time. I live on the coast now in scotland though.

Arf at guy with no photo. Yup that was really going to get you to answer!

TimeForMeIsFree · 28/09/2011 17:30

I love Weymouth, I would love to live on the South Coast. Isn't it a bit cold and rainy in Scotland? I live in Yorkshire so lots of green fields, would trade it for the coast any day though. Smile

Just had a message from a guy telling me straight, he wants a serious relationship, please read his profile and get back to him. He lives in London, I live in West Yorkshire. Bit of a long way to travel for a snog!

lubeybooby · 28/09/2011 17:30

Hahaa @ no pic guy. :o

OP posts:
TimeForMeIsFree · 28/09/2011 17:33

Grin No pic and plenty of aggression! Definite LOSER hand sign! I always assume the ones with no pic are married. One guy told me he worked for a special branch of the police and it wouldn't be appropriate to have his photo on a dating site. I replied that working for the police he would know it wasn't appropriate for me to meet a 'faceless' man off the internet. Strangely, I didn't hear from him again.

stayforthekids1 · 28/09/2011 17:34

Ah but it could be the best of both worlds Time! Like me! Grin Its cold and rainy in scotland :(

lubeybooby · 28/09/2011 17:36

Funny that eh time? Hmm

Mr Friday finally mailed. All he said was

"wallet was indeed on my desk at work... "

stayforthekids1 · 28/09/2011 17:50

Well considering my STBXH was english and S is english...I would say not! Really. There are very few good looking scottish men!
