General internet dating support and chit chat thread

Relationships seems the most appropriate place for this I think? Happy to ask for it to be moved if it's maybe better in _chat or something.

Anyway!

Chit chat your dating/internet dating claptrap here!

Also your hints and tips please for dating in the shark pit on the internet

I'll start.

I'm 31, single and rather fed up of it now. Have a few internet dating profiles, am trying to improve my social life and get out more, even looking out for possible additional temp jobs just to be.... 'out there' a bit more.

Even had a go at cosmic ordering which has been cropping up in dating related threads recently. Now I'm a very scientific and cynical kind of person but when it comes to my (currently appalling) love life I will try anything to give it a bit of a boost. Whether that be focusing the mind on the task in hand or strange unknown forces I care not.

lubeybooby · 26/09/2011 22:28

Ok... I knew it re: the traditional type....refusing to let me pay. he says he will hitch and bring sandwiches. :o

That's very sweet, and made me laugh... but fgs just let me pay. I want my fave restaurant!

Need to be strong and stick to my guns tonight folks!

The Red Flag Man I have given up on has seen it as a challenge to win me back and has sent me a mouthwatering pic of himself with lots of flirting, while the Very Nice Man (who I found on POF) is still away for another week unable to fight his corner.

I KNOW the RFM is bad news, he will hurt me and make me unhappy. But damn he is sexy!!

stayforthekids1 · 26/09/2011 22:30

Ahhh! See us women, we over think everything. One of the main things I am trying to teach myself is just try to take everything as it is. That is very sweet!

stayforthekids1 · 26/09/2011 22:36

LittleHouse - nooo dont do it! I have been there and it does just hurt. I really did have a RFM and then there is S the very nice man. All I can say is thank god I have the VNM, the rubbish RFM put me through was not nice. Step away!

stay thanks, I just wish RFM wasn't so damaged because he so wants to be happy with me. But he is and I can't fix him.

Now the VNM from POF is just lovely. When I sent a "tired out" text message to him earlier he said he is looking forward to us "being tired out together". RFM never EVER sends any sympathy or concern or positive strokes at all, because he ISN'T a Nice Person. I'm going to log off and go to bed so I don't do anything stupid.

stayforthekids1 · 26/09/2011 22:46

I always seem to go for the slightly broken type that I find endearing and want to fix. It never goes well. I think you are doing the right thing.

lubeybooby · 26/09/2011 22:52

Littlehouse I agree with stay - nooooooooo run away! I have, very fast from my very gorgeous but highly risky ex. Pastures new only!

Really hope I'm ok for my date tomorrow.

Really hope Mr Friday finds his wallet

Really hope I can actually sleep tonight

Night night all

I still think you should avoid shiney. Three dates in and you are having to text like that, its just not...flowing and its his doing. If he was smitten he could get a bloody cheap little mobile complete with charger. He just wants you there on the side of whatever issues he has.

Busy week ahead for you! Will be stalking watching to see how things go!

hm, am engaged in an intellectual quiz ping pong with some chat on OKC. So far we have covered poetry, opera dickens and summat about a peach....

ChaoticAngeloftheUnderworld · 26/09/2011 23:25

Bloody hell Shiney. That's one busy week.

PoppaRob · 26/09/2011 23:30

Not sure Shiney, but if you're into someone then you're hanging out for the next connection or contact, whether that be a text message or phonecall, message on the Net, catchup, date or whatever. If I had problems with my mobile I'd be madly apologising and making every effort to fix the problem. I don't know how it works in the UK, but with my telco here in Oz even if my mobile is dead I can still send text messages using a little program on a PC or from the telco's website, so there are options to maintain some level of contact even if you are mister phenomenally important high flyer, and if he's any good mister phenomenally important high flyer would surely ask his PA or someone to drop you a line in some way?

MadameDefarge · 26/09/2011 23:42

I agree with you Poppa.

But don't listen to him shiney, he don't like my photos!

PoppaRob · 26/09/2011 23:53

Madame, it's not that I don't like them - you're an attractive woman - but in a Bellatrix le Strange kind of way! Your photos say "Cross me and you'll find the kids' pet bunny bubbling away on the stove" :)

HairyGrotter · 26/09/2011 23:58

Hey, Bellatrix is AMAZING

MadameDefarge · 27/09/2011 00:05

Go and have a peek, hairy Defarge should get you there...let me know what you think!

HairyGrotter · 27/09/2011 00:10

It takes me to the Tale of Two Cities test, no profile :(

MadameDefarge · 27/09/2011 00:15

have pm'd you!

HairyGrotter · 27/09/2011 00:19

No way are you that age!!!!!! You look amazing, and better than Bellatrix!

MadameDefarge · 27/09/2011 00:21
