General internet dating support and chit chat thread

Relationships seems the most appropriate place for this I think? Happy to ask for it to be moved if it's maybe better in _chat or something.

Anyway!

Chit chat your dating/internet dating claptrap here!

Also your hints and tips please for dating in the shark pit on the internet

I'll start.

I'm 31, single and rather fed up of it now. Have a few internet dating profiles, am trying to improve my social life and get out more, even looking out for possible additional temp jobs just to be.... 'out there' a bit more.

Even had a go at cosmic ordering which has been cropping up in dating related threads recently. Now I'm a very scientific and cynical kind of person but when it comes to my (currently appalling) love life I will try anything to give it a bit of a boost. Whether that be focusing the mind on the task in hand or strange unknown forces I care not.

Argh, that'd grind my nuts and seal that door shut Hate, enjoy the band

charlottesmum5 · 23/09/2011 20:21

Well, Mr Engineer has just rung and confirmed our second date for tomorrow night. Am going to wear the 'date' dress that I didn't wear on our first date on Wednesday. And thankyou to all of you who said about "overthinking"...you are entirely right and even Mr.E text me to say the same thing lol!! I think it's because psychology is part of my job (I work in mental health) that I tend to over-analyse everything lol!!

HairyGrotter · 23/09/2011 20:22

Ah Charlottesmum I'm doing a psychology degree, I feel your pain. I over analyse EVERYTHING BLOODY DETAIL. Horrible.

Good news on the date though, yay!

charlottesmum5 · 23/09/2011 20:24

ha ha hairy if you need any help on any of your units then just let me know lol!!

HairyGrotter · 23/09/2011 20:34

Oh I will, thank you haha

lubeybooby · 23/09/2011 20:58

Cripes... three more gooduns are messaging me. What the heck is going on? This never happens. That's five very possible, very nice men who haven't sent cringey or pervy (or both) messages Shock

Is this my cosmic order at work? is it is it? Oh I hope so :o

ooh! lubey!

HairyGrotter · 23/09/2011 21:04

Can I order food with this Cosmic guff? What do I have to do?

adamschic · 23/09/2011 21:17

Hairy, nice hair!

Waves to Betty. Your date is sounding good, just enjoy it.

HairyGrotter · 23/09/2011 21:48

OMG, something in the water this evening!

I am messaging a guy who is coming across as A-M-A-Z-I-N-G thus far, I even squealed when I saw his pic after his first message.

Playing it cool...playing it cool

MadameDefarge · 23/09/2011 22:00

hairy! 'tis the power of MN cosmic ordering, clearly!

MadameDefarge · 23/09/2011 22:01

stay is about to meet the sassanach.... anybody else holding their breath?

adamschic · 23/09/2011 22:25

So tell me, does everyone wait for them to message you, I always have, or do you message the ones you fancy?

Hairy, let him do the running and asking, just keep replying with witty but leading questions.

I've messaged a couple of real hotties tonight. They haven't replied, probably both on dates. I do find that they don't respond well if I've initiated contact so I would never normally do it but hey nothing lost.

lubeybooby · 23/09/2011 22:28

Oooh Hairy :o

adamschic I send a message if I like someones profile, sometimes I'm really not expecting a reply but get one... sometimes I think i'm onto a winner and... nothing. I'd rather at least try than not though.

Wow looks like u girls are having some well earned luck tonight! Saw the ex tonight for dinner who pleaded for mercy so I may give him a second chance especially as it is dry, dry, dry for me out there at mo.

adamschic · 23/09/2011 23:39

ike1, remember he is an ex for a reason. Understand what you are saying though.

Hottie no. 2 has replied but as usual with me making the first move it's a bit 'ok, this might be fun' Sad

ike1 · 23/09/2011 23:43

I know, but I do fancy him still...oh bum. Ah well lets treat it all as a bit of fun.

MadameDefarge · 23/09/2011 23:48

the problem with exes who are available is that they take up valuable time we could use for, oh I dunno. reading, having long baths. hanging with our kids, and oh, yes, meeting other people who fulfil our emotional needs.

ike1 · 24/09/2011 00:01

mm yes we have had a break at my request and he is saying and doing all the right things to put the relationship back on track incl. counselling, giving up the weed so thought we'd take it v.slowly - thereby allowing me to do all the lovely things u suggest Madame. Anyhoo I can still keep checkin me pof and okc accounts lol. I met him on Match btw & had been seeing him for over a year.

Yeh he wasnt a heavy smoker and doesnt really drink. There are loads of blokes in their 40s who still think like bloody students.

MadameDefarge · 24/09/2011 00:15

I agree. Weed is so bloody rubbish. Dull, dreary, paranoia inducing.

Bah!

And so bloody, well, sorry to say it, but, WET!

ike1 · 24/09/2011 00:18

I suppose that was his occasional poison of choice, but because I have kids if we were to have a future I didnt want any in my home.

watchoutforthatsnail · 24/09/2011 02:46

Wow. Without doubt tge best sex I've had in about 4 years. Or actually possibly ever..

PoppaRob · 24/09/2011 03:15
