Mouseface · 12/07/2011 15:47

Hello, I'm Mouse Smile

Welcome to the Brave Babe's Bus. This is a bus full of drinkers old and new, sober and not, and those who are somewhere in between.

We are all at different levels of sober so you can bet that one of us has walked in your shoes.

If you want advice and support then you're in the right place.

Come take a seat or just lurk, we're happy to have you along for the ride. Smile

And here is a link to the last thread so you can catch up on the journey so far HERE

Happy Birthday to venus xxxxxxxxxxxx

Epic fail here last night. Started off on low alcohol wine and ended up nailing a bottle of Sauv Blanc. Within 2 hours. Blush

DH had a go at me for drinking it, he said 'why did you do that? What brought that on?'.

So I went to bed. Drunk and guilty and upset. I can't stop drinking because I don't want to. That's all I think about, round and round.

Oh well. Start again. Again.

I took Nemo to stay and play this morning and we had a wonderful time, Nemo really interacted with the other children which is a massive step forward for him. He palyed with them as apposed to near them! Grin.

Then we're out to meet friends to feed the ducks and have an ice-cream later on. Not at a pub, so that's a start.

DH is really stressed out. It's our anniversary tomorrow so I'm hoping he'll be okay. I also know that he has bought a bottle of chmpers because we are away for the night. DD is going to her friend's for the weekend and Nemo will be with us.

Sorry to those who are really struggling at the moment, I've no advice because I can't take it myself.

I know I have to stop drinking but I'm not ready. Blush

Sorry xx

SAF!! im going to be a tough here - drinking because a neighbour has wound you up is an excuse, its not a reason! - if you drink now its because you want to!, he cant 'make you' - now take a long look at him, do you really think that he is worth it?, he is an old bastard, why should he be allowed to wreak your day? - try and think of him as 'the voice' that is in your head telling you its ok to drink and give it the old mental 'fuck the fuck off' routine!! YOU CAN DO IT!

mouse - i do think its a bit unfair of dh to complain about your drinking and then buy champagne! he is either supporting you or he isnt!

Fairenuff · 28/07/2011 13:49

Hi Mouse so sorry you're struggling with this today, especially with your anniversary tomorrow. Would it be OK to NOT open the bottle? We were given one as a 'birth' present when DD was born (had a special label with the date on etc.) and have kept it as a momento. We intend to never drink it, not as an alcohol related thing, but just because it's special. COULD you not open it?

The sooner you get back in control, the better you will feel.

Sounds like you have a lovely afternoon planned. Don't beat yourself up any more. And make sure Nemo doesn't eat that bread that's meant for the ducks!

Saf leave the fence. STEP AWAY FROM THE GARDEN.

Are there things you can get on with in the house today? How about taking the dog out. Plan something for the next hour. Any swimming pools you could get to? Exercise will eat up that anger.

Remeber what Jesus said. He's an old git of no bloody importance. Do NOT let him ruin what YOU want to achieve in YOUR life.

Fairenuff · 28/07/2011 14:11

Mouse - that's tomorrow then. Don't think about it now. What about HALT? I'm sure tiredness doesn't help. Just take it hour by hour/minute by minute, stay in the 'now'.

Sending strength right back atcha

MsGee · 28/07/2011 14:15

very quick post here

mouse you were ready to stop drinking the day you joined this thread. at the moment its harder but you still don't want to return to the old life eh? you're just kidding yourself that there is a middle ground - well there isn't is there? not in the end.

Its bloody hard not drinking. I desperately want a nice glass of red wine. Or a bottle. But not having the first is easier than not having the second, so that's where I start. I am not strong enough to not have the second, so I don't start. That is my decision today. At this hour.

So don't think about the champers. Deal with that tmrw. Today you have had a good day with nemo so start there. (well done nemo by the way). How about a plan for tonight? (you know I can see you stamping your foot and saying 'but I WANT to drink'. tough shit. make a plan instead).

that was my first tough love Grin. how did it go? are you ok, hope it wasn't too tough. have some cheese .....

saf well done on the cornflakes. Although I had to laugh at the thought of someone aggressively eating cereal. Just stick your fingers up at the old guy. what's he going to do - stare some more?

fairie you are making me hungry for pasta. nom nom.

jesuswhatnext · 28/07/2011 14:18

AAHHH SAF! you are one of the 'bought up to be polite' brigade i see! Grin seriously, i think we can be totally styimed at times by this affliction! just tell the old git to 'back off, mind your business and stop annoying me' and then just ignore him!

Saf what have you been doing this last hour? No being nosey Blush just wondering what helped you this time so that you can maybe use it again iyswim

obrigada · 28/07/2011 15:40

Afternoon all, sorry that Mouse and SAF are fighting the demon today, would love to be able to say something wise and profound but just don't have the knack that others seem to have of saying the right thing, so for the moment what I will say is I am thinking of you both.

Saf if MN is a good distraction for you (works for me too Grin) have you looked back to where this thread began?

It's a lot of reading (starting with Jesus' post) but fascinating stuff. I've only just started really but keep dipping back into it. Can't wait for more of the characters I 'know' to pop up. If someone was clever enough to turn it into a novel I bet it would be a bestseller.

And if it gets made into a movie I bagsy Angelina Jolie to play 'me' Grin because I look so much like her it's uncanny Wink

If you can't find the 1st thread let me know and I'll try to do a link.

venusandmars · 28/07/2011 16:09

Birthday is going very nicely, visited elderly parents this am, had a picnic in the rain, went to exhibition at art gallery but it does not open till saturday, and went to refurbished museum but it does not open till tomorrow. Still, I'm enjoying a nice cup of peppermint tea and doing a sudoko. It's an exciting life Grin.

Actually, it sounds worse than it was, the picnic was great - there is something wonderful about the smell of trees and forests and wild clover when it has been warm and the rain falls, it smelt all herby and alive and lush. Picnic included garlic bread, chicken, new potatoes, asparagus, a wonderful tomato salad, and blueberries (eaten in a little wooden shelter). Now I think I might indulge myself by having a snooze Smile
