Mouseface · 12/07/2011 15:47

Hello, I'm Mouse Smile

Welcome to the Brave Babe's Bus. This is a bus full of drinkers old and new, sober and not, and those who are somewhere in between.

We are all at different levels of sober so you can bet that one of us has walked in your shoes.

If you want advice and support then you're in the right place.

Come take a seat or just lurk, we're happy to have you along for the ride. Smile

And here is a link to the last thread so you can catch up on the journey so far HERE

Oh saf I do meditation / relaxation things (bit of an aging hippy here). They are all the things that make me feel right and ok and fine about myself.

Never tried iced tea though. Anyone else?

venusandmars · 27/07/2011 21:39

I like peppermint (of course), cherry and cinamon, blackberry and nettle, or lavender and southafrican honeybush.

fairenuff I was at a food festival recently and one of stalls was selling herb teas. It was a boiling hot day (very unusual here) and they had made their teas with ice and fizzy water. T'was bloody fab Smile Smile

venusandmars · 27/07/2011 21:46

meeeeowwww to saf for reminding me about my age Grin

but to be honest I have had 'mind blowing' experiences during meditation which are better, much better, then anything alcohol can give me. Bigger highs, bigger calms.

Fairenuff · 27/07/2011 21:47

can you remember what flavours venus? I might try some.

Hi,

sorry for the meltdown, better now, just writing on here makes me take stock, if you know?

Another peppermint tea, crikey, I used to hate them, and then to bed (Ma Sad)

Venus mind blowing, as when "Harry met Sally", as per indies instructions? Good Birthday ahead!!!

saf you are not old or aging, and I am much, much older then you (and tomorrow I'll be even much, much, more older).

Night all I'm off for a mind- blowing end to my forties Grin Wink [explosion]

thursomuchtolookforwardto · 27/07/2011 22:44

You lovelies,

Saf was a meltdown for me, at the moment, but if you have a chance look back to my major meltdown!! Thanks for your help, I laughed at your message Smile. Sleep tight too. xxxx

Crikey, bit jealous of Venus tonight!!

thursomuchtolookforwardto · 28/07/2011 07:54

Morning!

HAPPY BIRTHDAY VENUS
and many happy returns. Have a lovely day.

Thank you for all your help, last night, babes. Sorry to be a moaner, but, it really helped to type it out, instead of raiding the garage!
Onward!
Have good mornings all.
xxxx

MissP Thanks for your message, no, a glass wouldn't have been the end of it, of course. When I read your message, I knew what I would be doing if I poured out one. Thanks.

MissPerrier · 28/07/2011 08:00

Morning all,

Happy Birthday Venus I hope you have a wonderful day, that the weather is good and you are spoiled rotten.

I shall ignore all talk of explosions Smile but have made notes on tea to try.

All ok here, am on Day 5 - same as saf I think? (well done saf - I like counting too. But then its part of my spreadsheet geekiness).

Today I will not be drinking. Its month end so I should have finished my work (or dashed out a load of emails to clients explaining why I haven't) and normally think - what they hey! Not today. I am exhausted (bad night with DD, nightmare about a dragon, came into our bed and then totally took the piss and kept me awake) and I have made lots of plans for tmrw (two playdates) with potential friends so do not want to be hungover. Which is what happens when you have 'just one glass' eh?

For the foodies - what can I do that is low fat to eat with salmon fishcakes? I was thinking a rocket salad? Butternut squash wedges? In fact any low fat, fill me up ideas appreciated.

jesuswhatnext · 28/07/2011 08:50

BOING!!!! Grin

HAPPY BIRTHDAY VENUS!!! i hope you have a wonderful day!

thurso and saf, you are both bloody brilliant! personally i hate herb tea and i admire the pants off people who can get through a meltdown on peppermint tea! uughh! Grin

just thinking about counting the days - in the early days i often even counted the hours!, it was very important to me to keep a score iyswim? and each day down helped to fuel my resolve for the next day, i know that i have now been sober for over 365 days! Shock in fact its nearly 14 months now Shock - tbh it seems to me that every sober problem drinker knows to the day how long they have been sober, i suppose its because its a kind of re-birth after a long miserable 'near death experience' (i dont mean we were all nearly physically dead, i mean in a spiritual, what enhances life kind way) sorry im being pretty inarticulate here Blush

anyway, today i have woken up and had my usual thought

TODAY I WILL NOT BE DRINKING

if you struggle at any point today, just try and keep that thought, its only for today, yesterday is gone and done and tomorrow isnt here yet! Grin

btw - i woul like deep sympathy this evening - we are having a 'wedding budget' meeting!, i may well need to resusitate dh!

MsGee · 28/07/2011 09:07

jesus ... wedding planning budget ... what have I missed - is DD getting married??

notevenamousie · 28/07/2011 09:18

HAPPY BIRTHDAY VENUS!!!! Hope you have a lovely relaxed day and are spoilt lots!!

thurso I agree that was a very dignified meltdown!! I am so glad you are feeling better this morning.

SAF if you look back at your own posts you will see how much more positive and bright you 'sound' even across the ether. I think - for me, anyway - getting a bit of a sense of this (whatever this is, for you) starting to work makes me want to keep doing it.

jwn such a relief to see you boinging again!!

JRH As has been said don't find the particular definition of "God" comes up at meetings, apart from people describing their initial reluctance to engage with the programme because of it,and because for so many it IS a problem it needs to be talked about. I think only my sponsor knows about my faith - I would describe myself as an evangelical Christian but I don't even think I've really mentioned it in the 8 months I've been on here or around my local AA meetings (in the NW). I have found it helpful to read a few things written about recovery written from an evangelical viewpoint - have you read anything by Gerald May? Addiction and Grace is the one I read first and it is brilliant.

Mouse hope you had a bit of a better night

Sorry to all I've missed, hope everyone has a good day :)

venusandmars · 28/07/2011 09:28

I'm swanning around in my own little birthday fairyland, waving graciously at you all Grin, and thanking you for your birthday greetings.

Dh bought me a pipe and slippers Hmm and also flowers, books, and smoked salmon, scrambled eggs and croissants for breakfast.

Have a good day everyone x

obrigada · 28/07/2011 09:30

Happy Birthday Venus, sounds like a good start to the day with the pipe and slippers Grin

Grin I might go for a heavenly name change too (though you'll always be Saf to me)

Morning all

ah venus what a lovely start to your day, hope it keeps getting better and better Smile

jesus good luck with the 'wedding budget' are you going to have to scrap over every item? Rather you than me today (although DD has persuaded me to take her shopping so I will be clinging on to my purse for dear life) Grin

obrigada · 28/07/2011 12:05

Morning, Day 4 for me today, didn't go walking this morning, alarm went off but kept hitting the snooze button, was my first good nights sleep in ages and so did not want to get out of my bed. However am determined not to drink this evening and go for my walk later.
