The One Before

And All Others Before That

So, this is The Brave Babes Battle Bus.

All are welcome, regardless of your background, stage of sobriety, or anything else. Smile

I'm Mouse and have been here since June 2010, and in control of my drinking since August 2nd 2010.

You will find unconditional support here. Always.

Whatever you feel about drinking (or not), we've been in your shoes. Some more than once.

So, come say hi, come grab a seat. There is always an open door and a warm welcome on this Bus.

I totally agree with everything you just said, MIFLAW Grin and in fact when I replied to the PM (before I posted about it on here) I said exactly that about having any better ideas, ha ha. I've been out of denial myself for a good long while now - I acknowledged that I have a problem several years ago, in fact I suspected as much as early as my late teens except that back then everyone was spending a lot of time in the pub. Or I didn't know people who weren't, anyway. Hence having had dry spells on and off for so long - I'm now looking for a long term solution as I have proved to myself that I cannot do it alone. I manage about a month each time, but I want it to be permanent so that I'm not always looking for the next excuse to overdo it Smile

Who are you calling a broad bus Grin

thursomuchtolookforwardto · 17/03/2011 14:55

Sorry, just stopped work, and feeling jolly.

Golly Your posts are thought provoking, and I am very glad that you decided to come on here.

Let me know how your first meeting goes, I have never been, but the more I slip and slide, the more I check the dates and times!

In fact the more sober days I have, the more a meeting seems like a good idea, to try and stop slipping and sliding.

How is your work going Indie?

venusandmars · 17/03/2011 15:00

I'm sitting here smiling, because everyone anyone posts in reply to Golly, it feels as though I'm reading a jolly Enid Blyton book Grin. Next we'll all be having lashings of ginger beer (non-alcoholic of course) Smile

well! isnt this al jolly spiffing? Grin

golly - so sorry you had the pm - everyso often we get quite a vociferious poster against AA - i think half the trouble starts in the US, it seems the courts can order people to attend - i know if i had been 'sent' i would have bucked against it!

FWIW - i have been going to AA for nearly 10 months - i have never been asked for my surname, my signiture, my bank details or my address, all the usual things one is asked for when 'joining' something!

btw, another FWIW, a lady in the meeting i go to chats away before and after the meetings, once the meeting is underway she says not a word! - her sobriety, her choice!, it works for her!

GollyHolightly · 17/03/2011 15:12

Enid Blyton? Shock I do hope no-one is associating my name with those hideous dolls! I'll have to change it if they are Shock

Thurso, I will let you know how it goes. I'm a strange mixture of fear/panic/excitement/hope at the moment.

venusandmars · 17/03/2011 15:13

Ooh I used to love those school books - especially the stories about the naughty girls Blush

If we're going to go all jolly hockey sticks, we'd better get a dog too - something wholesome like a retriever, with a very dog-like name - Patch perhaps?

thursomuchtolookforwardto · 17/03/2011 15:14

No, bus is good Indie

Many years ago, I read an article where a woman in a red coat was walking along the road, and someone looking in a shop window, jumped out of their skin and said "Oh, I'm sorry I thought you were a bus!"

My best friend and I were on a big weight loss mission at the time, and thereafter we addressed all our letters to each other "Bus 476A" on the envelope. How we laughed Hmm, you had to be there.
It brought back old memories Smile

jesuswhatnext · 17/03/2011 15:14

isindi - i think you can safely wear the head prefect badge now! (loon!) Grin

bafanatheSober · 17/03/2011 15:58

Get off the loon list - NEVER!!! {grin]

bafanatheSober · 17/03/2011 16:17

OMG - you lot are making me laugh this afternoon!!

dementedma · 17/03/2011 16:17

just checking in to read all your jolly loon posts. What ARE you all on today? Sobriety??
Today is a big day - i am going to attempt my first training "run" for the Race for Life at the end of may. i have downloaded a podcast "couch potato to 5K" and just listening to it exhausted me. its mostly walking with little jogs for a minute here and there but it is still way too much for this clapped out middle-aged wobbler!
wish me luck and if I'm not back later tonight, send the bus for me......

Mad, mad, mad as cheese I tell you!

Had a great morning at playgroup with Nemo, Then went off to hydro (ouch) and Nemo's nurse has just gone with a huge Smile on her face.

She's so proud of him for how far he has come in the last few weeks, walking, new shoes, talking (making noises) more, getting things, helping me dress him, find his shoes, etc.....

It was lovely to hear her say - 'he's more like a 2 year old little boy now'

Anyway, just wanted to share that will all of his Mad Aunts! Grin
