Mouseface · 21/01/2011 22:19

Hello all.

We are the Brave Babes. We're on the Battle Bus, travelling around sobriety and going day by day, hour by hour, through the detox hell of not drinking, cutting down or sometimes even not.

Come say hi. We won't bite. Grin

No doubt one of us has been where you are now......

It's fine. No judging, no nasty jibes, just us, the BBs.

Come meet the others..................

checking in to say good night. another booze free night here, though the craving was still there.
DS's birthday tomorrow and friends coming round so will be a tricky one.
DD1 has made his birthday cake - 3 huge trays of brownies, piled up to form a pyramid, melted caramel chocolate poured down it like a waterfall, sprinkled with white chocolate stars, mini marshmallows and edible gold glitter! Shock
it is the most over the top cake on the planet and he'll love it!

LADYBOAK · 27/01/2011 22:39

Good night everyone !

TheNextChapter · 27/01/2011 23:47

Night Ladies.

Momentarynamechange · 27/01/2011 23:54

oh my, have been trying to catch up on the thread and it's been busy!! Haven't managed to catch up on it all...

...so will just say hello to new babes and old, hope you are all doing okay x.

I had my week away skiing, which was really great, although pretty much no snow. Do you know what, out of 12 of us, I was among the lightweight drinkers!! I'm not kidding myself though, these heavyweight drinkers will go home and drink nothing for a week/month/longer, whereas I'll continue day after day Blush. I had a great time though, and reminded myself how much I like other people's company. I tend to tell myself I'm a loner, prefer my own company...but then seem to prove myself wrong (psycho analyse that if you will - because I can't!)

Before going away, I realised I was approaching 'broke' (am self-employed). Holiday was arranged long ago so not much I could do. Now I'm short for tax at the end of the month, and am working 11-hour days to try and make up the shortfall.

All this week I didn't drink, but tonight I pilfered DP's stash and am nearing the end of a bottle.

WasIndie, I think I really recognise the whole 'exhausted: drink' thing. My cravings are so much worse when I'm knackered, and I
gave into them tonight.

will catch up on the rest of the thread tomorrow, hope everyone has a peaceful night
xx

venusandmarzipan · 28/01/2011 08:41

hi threesteps and another self-employed 'loner' here Smile. Hope you'fe feeling OK today after your wine. Today is new day, be kind to yourself and know that the kindest thing you can do is to treat your exhaustion properly but having a half hour break, a short walk, a cup of something relaxing or refreshing and a proper nights sleep.

demented the cake sounds fab - who need alcohol when you have that indulgance to look forward to? Now what drink will go best with that - I really, really bet that it is not wine.

nextchapter no need to worry about posting about your problems, thoughts, joys, experiences. The wonder of these threads is that we all do that, and somehow something rings a bell with someone else and helps them.

Have a good day everyone.

venusandmarzipan · 28/01/2011 10:03

I saw this today, and it made me laugh.

here

dementedma · 28/01/2011 11:43

morning all.
Feeling bright-eyed and bushy-tailed this morning. Very nearly managed a boing! Grin
I wish I could bottle this hangover-free feeling and swig it when temptation strikes.

MissPerrier · 28/01/2011 11:55

Hi Babes and Miflaw
I've been trying to catch up a bit but this thread moves so fast. Anyway I have just recovered from a hideous cold and suddenly appreciate how good "normal" can feel.Confused I think i'm up to 7 months not drinking, but just lately its been creeping back into my thoughts, dressed up cunningly as a 'good idea' Read one of MIF's recent posts;
"What I want is to be able to drink extremely heavily and not suffer any consequences." Thanks Miflaw its why i love your posts so much. So I guess i'll keep on keeping on, it feels god to tell you. Smilex

Zanywany · 28/01/2011 12:03

Ahhhh lost post

Hi everyone

On a big night out tonight but planning on having a soft drink every other drink. Feeling a bit stressed already as XP (who I have been avoiding since he left me in town on a night out with his friends) has said he needs to talk to me and will be in my area today. Expecting him to be hanging around outside work/my house.

Loved the link Venus

venusandmarzipan · 28/01/2011 12:11

Hi MissP yes, I have a 'what would MIFLAW do' moment every so often when I feel wobbly Grin

zany good idea about having a soft drink every other drink. Can I suggest that you make it a priority to START with a soft drink. Walk in knowing what you want and what you're going to say "Oooh I'm really thirsty, I think I'll have a big glass of orange and soda to start" or something like that.

If you can, try it again for the second drink "My that was good! I think I'll have another".

Believe me it will make a big difference to your evening. ime if your first drink is an alcoholic one you won't want to swap for the second one, and we all know where that leads. Also if you have 2 big glasses on liquid to start with you begin the evening well hydrated (and reduce your potential hangover) and you fill up your stomach so that when you do have an alcoholic drink you are not as tempted to knock it back quickly.

No advice on your XP. What do you want to happen? why is he X?

Zanywany · 28/01/2011 12:23

I was hoping we could be friends but a friend wouldn't treat me the way he often does, he is like Jekyl and Hyde. He is an X as he was V manipulative/emotionally abusive and completely wore down any self worth.esteem I had. Just don't want a show down at work. Will try and have a soft drink first - I always make an excuse with myself that I am self concious walking into pubs on my own but will try and have self control tonight Smile

Zanywany · 28/01/2011 12:26

NO change that to I won't try I will have self control. PLanning on going to the gym first too so I'm not sitting at home guzzling sipping a G&T before I go out

dementedma · 28/01/2011 12:32

you can do it Zany - have a lovely evening!

venusandmarzipan · 28/01/2011 12:34

Great plan zany Grin

Zanywany · 28/01/2011 13:05

Have now drawn the blinds at work (I work on the ground floor next to the pavement) in the hope that XP won't see my car as it's hidden and so presume I'm not at work - How ridiculas!

Zanywany · 28/01/2011 13:10

Even more ridiculas that MN doesn't have spell check Grin

Momentarynamechange · 28/01/2011 13:11

Hello everyone Smile

Zany that sounds like a horrid situation re XP, good plan to lie low, although not an easy way to live day to day life.

Hi Venus Smile, loved the link!! I do try and take breaks. I'm lucky I have a dog to take out, and I'm doing the 30 day shred DVD at the mo which takes 20 mins out of the working day (and boy what a 20 mins, it kills!!)

speaking of dog, off with him now, poor boy has had to wait patiently while i fire jobs back this morning...

have a great day lovely babes and MIFLAW (congratualations on the new addition MIFLAW Smile

MIFLAW · 28/01/2011 13:18

"I wish I could bottle this hangover-free feeling and swig it when temptation strikes."

Congratulations, dementedma - you have defined in an extremely succinct format the main function of AA meetings.

jesuswhatnext · 28/01/2011 13:24
