The Brave Babes Battle Bus - Carry On Past The New Year Wine Offers!

1000 replies

Mouseface · 21/01/2011 22:19

Hello all.

We are the Brave Babes. We're on the Battle Bus, travelling around sobriety and going day by day, hour by hour, through the detox hell of not drinking, cutting down or sometimes even not.

Come say hi. We won't bite. Grin

No doubt one of us has been where you are now......

It's fine. No judging, no nasty jibes, just us, the BBs.

Come meet the others..................

FairyGodMouse · 28/01/2011 14:58

Now I want chocolate too!

No, not heard from Red since last weekend. Will send her a quick text now.......

Zanywany · 28/01/2011 15:04

I might pinch the last choccy biscuit at work whilst my MD is out

Zanywany · 28/01/2011 15:05

Shoot - someone got there before me Angry

FairyGodMouse · 28/01/2011 15:21

Red's off work again but fine. Smile

Zanywany · 28/01/2011 15:50

Sorry there are crumbs all over the bus now. Shall I bring my hyper lab onboard to 'hoover' them up. Grin

FairyGodMouse · 28/01/2011 16:00

Funny you should say that Zany, I'm looking at a puppy, a lab/shepherd cross.

Not as bonkers as a lab but great with children.

Zanywany · 28/01/2011 17:36

Ahh I bet its adorable. Our lab is a year old and is still very hyper but really good with the DC's. Best thing we did is get a dog, she is hard work in that she needs regular walks and pulls alot but is lovely, she snuggles up to me on the sofa once the DC's are in bed. We love her Grin

LADYBOAK · 28/01/2011 17:51

Hi ! I know I'm not good at supporting any of you at the moment and I regret that but I'm just feeling so weird. I have a complete loss of appetite, lots of headache, my nose hurt as if I had a nasty cold but without the cold ???? I'm sorry for moaning Sad just someone is going to tell me it is normal and that it will be better tomorrow.

FairyGodMouse · 28/01/2011 17:58

LADY - yep, all normal. It's your body complaining basically.

You need to make sure you drink plenty of clear fluids of the non alcoholic type and keep your blood sugar levels on an even keel.

Little and often re food or snacks in between.

Fresh air too. Sounds daft but it really does help you to feel better.

Don't worry about your appetite, that will come back in time.

Just eat what you fancy for a while.

I promise, as will everyone else on here, it is worth it!

LADYBOAK · 28/01/2011 18:03

I'm just scared I'm going to die because of the withdrawals symptoms, I have been reading about it and it says that it gets worst after 2 to 3 days, I'm on day 3. I'll say I have got it mild but cant help being worried. What if I die during the night ? My dh is away with the kids. Thank you fairygodmouse !

FairyGodMouse · 28/01/2011 18:11

You're not going to die from mild withdrawel symptoms.

Even if you had moderate withdrawel, I doubt you'd die to be honest.

You could, however, die from alcohol abuse. That is a given.

You just need to use this weekend as time to chill out, stock up on your vitamins, fluids, and don't forget salts too.

You'll feel very hungover for a few days but it passes.

It really does. You only have to read the posts on here and the other threads.

KEEP GOING!

MIFLAW · 28/01/2011 18:21

LADYBOAK

First thing - you drank a lot. Don't let what I am about to say cause you to doubt that. You. Drank. A. Lot.

Second thing - I probably drank two or three times what you drink. and I smoked 40 a day. And I went cold turkey (several times, because I was stupid and wasn't convinced the first time.) And I didn't die. And, barring a medical condition you've kept from us, nor will you.

Drink orange juice and/or Coke, eat Marmite and/or cakes, stay in bed, keep a change of sheets handy for when the sweat starts to smell, and read a good book and/or watch Jeremy Kyle.

It ain't glamorous, but it ain't an episode of Casualty either.

FairyGodMouse · 28/01/2011 18:23

Evening MIFLAW

I was hoping you'd appear. As if by magic.

LADYBOAK · 28/01/2011 18:27

Thank you !! I'm reading Allen Carr at the moment and it helps a lot, thank you so much for your input Miflaw, I have a lots of stuff that I have recorded on tv so I'm just going to do just that !

FairyGodMouse · 28/01/2011 18:29

LDAY - there you go then, the whole house to yourself to catch up on everything you've recorded.

FairyGodMouse · 28/01/2011 18:29

LDAY????

I swear I'm as sober as a judge Grin

Sorry LADY

Zanywany · 28/01/2011 18:40

Well I'm getting ready for my night out but have had a couple. My first drink out will be a soft one though to keep me on track whilst I'm out. XP didn't turn up at work - am sure he threatens it just so I will be worried all day.

You will feel loads better Lady after these eary days, keep going

FairyGodMouse · 28/01/2011 18:42

Zany

Swift kick to the cock maybe for the XP? Get the message across? Grin

Have a fab night lovely.

Zanywany · 28/01/2011 18:52

Wondering whether its a good idea to dye hair half an hour before I go out - OOOOOpppps too late now Grin

FairyGodMouse · 28/01/2011 19:10

Nutter! That's the kind of thing I do! Grin

Make sure you clean your ears, nowt like hair dye to turn a chap on you know Wink

thursomuchtolookforwardto · 28/01/2011 19:21

Hello ladies and Milflaw

I am not so good,

Lady you are doing so well, maybe shut your eyes!

I spent an hour and a half on the phone with my sister, who is almost at her wits end, no money (losing the house soon), quite a shocking illness (RA), and a shit not very supportive DH. What to do, apart from winning the lottery for her.

I have been up to the shops, and bought two bottles of wine, am half way down the first, and I thought I had gone through the worst, and it wouldn't come back!

Wouldn't blame you if you chucked me off the bus forthwith.

What can I do, I try so hard.

Zanywany · 28/01/2011 19:23

Well just checked hair and its a lovely shade of blonde so the DC's don't need to chase after me singing 'run run as fast as you can you can't catch me I'm the gingerbread man' like they did after my last disaster Grin

FairyGodMouse · 28/01/2011 20:12

thurso

Don't you dare leave this bus. You're not going anywhere.

I'm not normally around on a Friday night but I'm here for a while.

I'm so sorry that you are struggling.

You know the drill Babe. Pour it away, brush your teeth, twice. Go to bed......

I just have a feeling that tonight, that won't work.

So, if you are going to drink, at least slow down and try to have some water before bed.

And some food.

I'm here for a while but just about to eat dinner.

Rubyredlips · 28/01/2011 20:14

Hi Thurso sorry you're not good. What has triggered you to buy the wine? Was it your sis or something else?

Can you go and get yourself a soft drink? It will help with the hangover. Where's dh?
