Hello and a Happy New Year!

I'm Mouse, one of the passengers on this wonderful journey to sobriety! Smile

We are a real mixed bunch of people, all trying to control or give up the booze - ONE DAY AT A TIME.

Come meet the others.........

And here are the previous threads, the journeys so far

Help. Day 10. Can't get to AA as babysitter cancelled. Feel really low and tempted and horrible. AAAAARGH. It's going to be ok, right?

Mouseface · 13/01/2011 19:27

noteven

So, you can't get out of the house. Why not have an early night?

Are you hungry, tired, thirsty etc? Make something to eat, something simple that you wouldn't have a glass of wine with.

Drink a large glass of water.

Make yourself a cup of tea. Find something on the tv.

Read, take a bath, get your PJ's on, make lunch for tomorrow, iron, watch a film, hot chocolate, ANYTHING.

Why ruin all of your hard work tonight? You know that you will regret it deeply tomorrow if you drink tonight.

And yes, you can start again tomorrow, sure. But why? Tomorrow is Friday, then Saturday...... You can start Monday.

Why do you feel the need to drink if you can't go out.

Think about it.

Stop worrying about not drinking and find something to do then have an early night. Smile

Try washing your teeth Noteven, I find that helps. You can make it to Day 11

Spamspamspam · 13/01/2011 20:04

Noteven. All I will add is that for me day 10 is notoriously difficult on anything I give up, something weird about day 10 that takes extra special strength to overcome - I can guarantee you this if you can get through tonight you will feel a whole lot better with yourself I promise. Remember my day 10 post? I bought a small bottle of wine at the station because I was livid with my boss however I refrained and believe me that was a BIG BIG step for me so I know you can do it....

Mouseface · 13/01/2011 20:17

'try washing your teeth'?? Grin

What like in Persil or something? Wink

thursomuchtolookforwardto · 13/01/2011 20:25

Sorry Mouse, couldn't resist it Grin

just back from lovely meal with DH, mixed mezze to start, then salmon, with sweet potato mash and green beans, reasonably virtuous, I thought! I was going to have chesse and biscuits, but the waitress said they didn't have any Confused. Quite a treat to go out midweek, but we are on our own tonight, no DC's home, so we're living it up, Hmm home by 8?

thursomuchtolookforwardto · 13/01/2011 20:27

didn't have any chesse, do you think they might have had cheese?

Zanywany · 13/01/2011 20:37

How is it going Noteven

Silver66 · 13/01/2011 21:02

Hi campers

Just checking in to let you know I am still here, knackered and still getting over flu (back at work like most of us), can't get on pc much due to dd, brother, milk man, next door neighbour, random stranger from the street insisting it is their turn.......

still going to meetings, not completely sober but still working on it.

Not had a chance to read the thread so I've got no idea what's going on -

EXCEPT MOUSE'S BIRTHDAY TOMORRROW

Hope i got that right and if so

HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO YOU
HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO YOU
YOU LOOK LIKE A MOUSE AND YOU LIVE IN A ZOOOOOOOOOOO

Love you all babes xxxxxxxxxxxxxxx

thursomuchtolookforwardto · 13/01/2011 21:11

yahoo Silver

How lovely to see you!

I have been wondering where you are and what you were doing. You were very fab to me when I first joined.

Sharpen your elbows to get on here more often Grin

jesuswhatnext · 13/01/2011 21:16

thurso, i went out for lunch, eat a good meal, tehn tonight i have scoffed (the only word for it!) 2 slices of cheese on toast and half a box of after eights Confused, why is it i can have the will power to not drink but always fall at the first fence when trying to cut down on food?, im really cross with myself!

thursomuchtolookforwardto · 13/01/2011 21:25

JWN
the reason I joined this thread is because of what you started, and from what I have read, you didn't think, at the time, that you did have the willpower not to drink, well, you proved that you can you can do it, so I bet that when you're ready, you can do it with food too. Anyway, you sound far too glam and gorgeous to have to worry about your weight.

Also, you have been really poorly, and so need some nice warming things to keep your strength up. mmmmmm, cheese on toast sounds lovely, I wonder if my concience would let me get away with it, as I didn't have cheese after my dinner Hmm

jesuswhatnext · 13/01/2011 21:37

ahh thurso!! Grin i heart you! - i did have a lovely slow roasted pork belly and red cabbage and orange and cranberry bread pudding at lunch time, i REALLY didnt need anything else! Blush - i made up my mind not to worry about my weight but to try and tone up the wobbly bits Grin, trouble is, cos i have felt so awful i have done NOTHING and now im fed up with myself!, oh well, back to the big knicker department! Grin

Mouseface · 13/01/2011 21:49

thurso - Blush

It's not until tomorrow! But thank you, and you Silver.

JWN - Surely comfort eating is better than comfort drinking? Smile

thurso - how was the meal........ I mean, was DH okay? NO FECKING CHEESE??? Shock

I'd be furious Wink

You are all so bloody brilliant. I know for a fact that I wouldn't be where I am without your continued support and kindness xx

OP posts:
jesuswhatnext · 13/01/2011 21:50

jesuswhatnext · 13/01/2011 21:54

btw mouse, the thought of comorting eating as much as i 'comfort' drank is a bit scary, with my unit intake i would soon be in the guiness book of records as the fattest woman on earth! Grin

dementedma · 13/01/2011 22:02

OP posts:
dementedma · 13/01/2011 22:31

Honoured to share january 14th with the fabulous Mouse!! No meal out and no pressie from DH as only enough money for petrol to get to work next week. luxuries can wait.
Hope you have a great day mousie

thursomuchtolookforwardto · 13/01/2011 22:41

Ma you have your best present right there... lovely new you, because you've cut right down on the drink Smile.

I am going to bed now, can't do another late one like last night.

Mouse yes, going out did us the world of good. Dh promised to always talk to me at the very time anything is on his mind.... and then told me that he was really fed up with me for sleeping in the spare room last night!, Oh well, I did ask him to tell me anything Smile

see you in the morning babes. xxx

thursomuchtolookforwardto · 13/01/2011 22:44

Mouse my first sentence sounds sarcastic, but it wasn't meant, it really was good to just sit and talk over things, seems to be easier to talk when we're out, without the house stuff getting in the way.
