Hello and a Happy New Year!

I'm Mouse, one of the passengers on this wonderful journey to sobriety! Smile

We are a real mixed bunch of people, all trying to control or give up the booze - ONE DAY AT A TIME.

Come meet the others.........

And here are the previous threads, the journeys so far

Oh I love hotels Venus, enjoy:)

Anonymousbird · 13/01/2011 09:43

Morning. Day 5. This is seriously my longest ever period without a drink. DH also not buckling, so this is a massive help.

Well done Twinny! And wey-hey on the dates....

I was seriously tempted last night, but stuck with it. I am "out" at a friends for supper on Monday and will attempt to do exactly what you did - one or two small glasses and nothing before, nothing after... you've inspired me that I can do it!

Fairly good sleep, all things considered. All I need now is for the weight to melt away, the skin to clear up and I'll feel like I'm really making progress here! Wink

Rubyredlips · 13/01/2011 09:47

Hi Desire I'm good thanks. Trying to get me and 2 dc out but as you can see i'm chatting on here. Grin. How are you getting on?

Venus enjoy your time away and 'see' you when you get back. Out of interest what magazine have you got? Just nosey! Smile

desiretochange · 13/01/2011 09:48

Congrats on Day 5 Anon, and Zany well done on not having any more to drink when you got home, that was always one of my downfalls, never satisfied with what I drank when I was visiting friend, I would open a bottle of red when I got home Blush

desiretochange · 13/01/2011 09:49

:):) can be quite addictive this thread Ruby:):)

Mouseface · 13/01/2011 10:06

Morning.

Today I have coughed up green snot, my lungs and my will to live Grin

Sorry, TMI.

Ma - how about private care for children? Or even social worker? My BIL is a care worker for a family with an autistic boy, he works 3 days a week, 12 hours each and gets more than £21k.

It's so shit when you are only just making ends meet and then those ends get cut even more.

So sorry lovely. Can Tax Credits help? Working Tax Credit too? That's why I asked if you were UK. I guess it depends where in the UK too.

Fecking government!

Well done to all of you who are still going strong! It's lovely to see so many positive posts Smile

Morning Mouse and sorry to hear you are still sick.

Mouseface · 13/01/2011 10:40

Hey desire - it changes every day which is annoying. Cough, snot, sore throat, temp, earache, sore ribs, shivers, I've had them all in the last 3 days.

I feel fine in myself, just germ filled. Yuk!

How are you Smile

RedMoomin · 13/01/2011 10:44

Morning all,

Hope that anyone who's ill feels better soon. Lots on at work today so not sure how much I will be about but will try to keep up!

Hope everyone has a good day Smile

Zanywany · 13/01/2011 10:48

Morning everyone. Bad nights sleep but that was more to do with the fact that even though I have a king sized bed my DD feels the need to sleep with me everynight and share my pillow, a bit hard to sleep on 10 inch's worth of mattress Grin

Ma - hopefully your DH will see this as an opportunity to try something just as worthwhile as he is doing now but appreciated more in the pay packet. Easier said than done I know.

Mouse sprinkling get better soon dust your way

Thank you trinny Grin. Not sure about one of the guys as he is going down the 'do you have any naughty pix to send' route. Might meet one of them for a quick drink on Saturday, the other seems lovely, he looks after his 2 DD pretty much full time.

Good planning on staying away from the bar Venus - your plan suggestions have helped me loads

Anonymousbird · 13/01/2011 11:28

Zany - dump the perv and go with the nice dad. Wink

Mouseface · 13/01/2011 11:53

Grin at that post Anon.

Have to agree though, pervs a plenty, nice dads, not so.

Good afternoon all,

well, have managed to fritter away the morning putting off all my work, by doing inconsequential "jobs" around the house.

Red I hope you are feeling a bit better, nearly the weekend Grin.

In fact I was convinced it was Friday today, must be because I was up so late last night.

Venus I hope your course goes well, shouldn't be any snow this time, should there?, or is it still snowy where you are?

bird well done, your skin will clear up in a week or so, I think. It's just clearing out all the toxins.

Zany how about sending perv picture of someone parked on double yellow lines, that's quite naughty Grin

jesuswhatnext · 13/01/2011 12:21

hi all! still here, just quite busy - off to talk to a client now, wish me luck! Grin, really need not to cough all over her!

thursomuchtolookforwardto · 13/01/2011 12:24

Good luck, honeybunch Smile

Zanywany · 13/01/2011 12:41

Glad I didn't read your post whilst having a drink Thurso or I would have spat it out from laughing. Grin. I guess they must get some response to ask for naughty pix.

Feeling very positive about things today although trying not to think too much about my Uncle who I absolutly adore who is having an MRI today to investigate a 'shadow' on his lung. Hoping my positive vibes will help.

Spamspamspam · 13/01/2011 13:47

Hello Ladies!

Ma - sorry to hear about your troubles Sad it really pisses me off that people in your husband's line of work are penalised for the state of this country yet there are bankers out there getting £8M in bonuses....but that's another argument! Anyway I hope things improve for you.

Mouse - sorry to hear you are still feeling unwell I hope it doesn't lask too much longer, you have too much on your plate to be unwell so look after yourself.

Venus - Good luck with your course and hope you manage to stay away from the bar!

Zany - ditch the perve!!!

Thurs - Frittering away the morning is needed sometimes - no pressure on yourself Wink

Jesus - you sound a bit better?

Wondering how Inde has been getting on on her course..anyone heard from her?

Everyone else - well done, Anonymous Day 5 is GREAT!! My DH is also in this with me and it really really helps.

I am on day 12 today and getting into the groove, feeling good! Me and hubby also dieting as well so as well as the wine we have given up beige things - bread, pasta, crisps, potatoes etc. Am trying to cut the caffeine but think that is one step too far!!

What has really helped this week has been the pouring of a proper drink in the evening. A lot of you focused on it a few days ago and I hadn't really appreciated this before. Previously I just drank water or tea in the evening and did feel like I was consciously avoiding alcohol. I still feel like I am consciously avoiding alcohol however it is much nicer to pour myself a tonic with ice and a slice - feels like a treat and an evening drink..sound weird or make sense Grin

Onwards and upwards!

Mouseface · 13/01/2011 14:56

Spam - the evening drink is really important. Helps you to get through wobble o'clock too IME.

Keep going lovely! Smile

Zanywany · 13/01/2011 17:18

Really wanting a drink at the mo, wine o'clock is here. Going to try and distract myself

Mouseface · 13/01/2011 17:58

Zany - how you getting on? Smile

OP posts:
Anonymousbird · 13/01/2011 18:06

Zany - hang in on there, matey, twinny, let's get to Day 6 together!!!!

thursomuchtolookforwardto · 13/01/2011 18:14

Zany,

I have just poured myself a large glass of orange juice, lime and fizzy water, with ice, why don't you do the same?

Any old juice that you've got would do the same, it just feels a bit more "drinky" than a cup of tea.

Zanywany · 13/01/2011 18:22

Good idea, think I will have a non alcoholic beer.

Spamspamspam · 13/01/2011 19:20

Clinking glasses with Zany, I had a lovely N&T with ice and a slice - tis lovely Smile

Spamspamspam · 13/01/2011 19:21

have not had!
