How do you feel about prostitution?

Hello everyone, I have name changed for this(no sinister reason) but i do post on here from time to time.

Anyway, I would love to know what your thoughts are on prostitution. I don't mean political views and I dont really want to get into a discussion on whether girls are trafficked, pimped, druggies. Just what you think as a whole.

I am talking about girls who willing become escorts or work in massage parlours under the guise of 'masseuses' when really they provide extras.

What do you think of men who see them? Are that losers, sad and lonely, 'sex addicts'or what? Would you think your dp/dh was cheating if he saw a prostitute.

I ask just out of curiosity, I do not think my dp has ever visited a prostitute! Also, apparently 1 in 10 men see prostitutes. Do you agree with this. If this is true what hope do we all have eh?

My take is that i belive some girls use their looks to earn money an 'easy' way. By easy, I mean that they do not have to train for yrs to get a decent paid job, or they do not have to work 9 to 5 in an office when they can earn a wks wages in a day.

I have asked my own dp and he beleives that there is something missing from a relationship if a man sees a prostitute.Obviously its different with a single man. He also thinks that some men have issues sexually with their wives/partners and are inhibited. Therefore, that is why they pay for sex acts that they can't ask for at home. These are exactly my thoughts.Anyone agree or disagree?

I'd like your thoughts or experiences!

Malificence, of course it's theoretical and fortunately for us we live in a country where that will never happen. I'm just trying to get below the obviously deep rooted hatred of the profession/activity call it what you will, and get to the basics of what if...

jesuswhatnext · 13/11/2010 14:44

im with you whitecat - i dont believe for one minute that i answered a post from a 'granny' - its just another punter who needs to believe that the women he pays actually like him!

i too have been on my uppers, dirt poor with a child to feed and a roof to pay for - thankfully i was bought up by man who gave me a true sense of self worth!

Dittany...I'm not drawing conclusions about anyone, believe me. I don't know what I would do in that situation myself, it's a case of there but for the grace of God go I because I know I will never be in that position.
I'm quite sad though that women are turning against women.

Believe me Dittany, I wouldn't want to delve into the minds of men like you describe. I'm not condemning women here at all, I am one! And I have already said that it's the man I would hold responsible and not the women.

Malificence · 13/11/2010 14:49

The real message should be that prostitute using men are pathetic inadequates with a vile attitude to women and womens' sexuality.

jesuswhatnext · 13/11/2010 14:49

its not a deep sense of hatred either for the women or the 'profession' - what i hate is the thought that a man would be so low as to take the last bit of dignity from someone so desperate - thank god its not all men, only a sad few!

SabrinaYork · 13/11/2010 14:51

What we can say is that men who pay for sex are disgusting woman haters, and hopefully in the not too distant future there will be a law along like they have in Sweden and Norway that will make it illegal to pay for sex and that men who do it, will be marked out as the criminal and abusers they are. Hopefully with a prison spell involved too.

What a fantastic idea! lets drive the industry further underground! You think there are no prostitutes in Sweden and Norway?
No decrim/regulate it so it is SAFER for working girls, not make them scared to come forward if they are being abused for fear or prosecution.

AnotherMumOnHere · 13/11/2010 14:52

Ive read thru most of the postings on here but it will take a long time to read them all and perhaps by the time i do i will not get the opportunity to give my opinion if the limit is 1000 postings to one thread.

Why do "MNers" not accept that it takes all kinds to make the world go round and not all prostitutes are being "used and abused" (your words not mine).

I for one have not been on punternet though I do know what it is for. Do you all live in such an insular world with husbands and 2.4 children etc that you cannot believe that people make choices in their lives and although they do not agree with yours for one reason or another that they are not right.

From what I can see "Posie" and "dittany" say something and you all have to "blah blah" at their backs like the moron government we have.

I think you should all get off your moral high horses and have a look at the "real world" around you. Men are men and will "stick their cock" wherever they want no matter what "the little wifey" wants to believe.

Thats my tuppence worth.

HappyWithLife · 13/11/2010 14:54

Again playing devil's advocate, if the highly charged feelings here are towards the men who pay for sex why is there so much vitriol towards the women instead of support and understanding?

I do actually reserve a bit of hatred and condemnation for the choice prostitutes - after all they collude with the vile punternet men, they might be appalled at some of the nasty comments of some of them (enough to have them removed from the forum) but they still have sex with men like that, day and and day out.
They also collude in the oppression of hugely vulnerable women by virtue ( and I use that word very loosely) of their chosen profession.

Oh dear dittany, you are oh so so wrong. Prostitution is far from desperate. It is a very lucrative business run by a lot of very good business women whether it be through working through an agency or working as an independent working prostitute.

Malificence · 13/11/2010 14:59

"Men are men and will "stick their cock" wherever they want no matter what "the little wifey" wants to believe."

You sound just like the vile men on punternet (funny that).

If you are actually a woman - Have you really got such a low opinion of men, do you think of your husband, your brother, your father in those terms?

Dittany, no, I disagree. It would be dishonest if I didn't say I was playing devil's advocate. However, I am telling everyone that's exactly what I am doing, so how exactly is that dishonest? And I'm not disguising it with anything and there is no false questioning. And to be honest Dittany, whereas I have not been offensive to anyone, you are clearly doing just that by calling me wanky. A discusiion is a discussion, regardless of what side of the fence someone sits on, or even if they are sitting on the fence.
