Discovered that DH has been having an "inappropriate relationship" with another woman after 37 years of being together (31 years married). Decree absolute is only weeks away(I was the petitioner).....how does one cope?

Glad if anything I have to offer can help. Keep posting, I have you on my 'watched' list!

Hooray! Got back from work and found a letter from the Counselling Unit with loads of forms to complete to enable them to assess me. This is great news because for the first time, I feel like I am actually taking a step towards asking for professional advice and help rather than "grinning and bearing it and getting on with it". I await with trepidation and hope that I do get on with the counsellor allocated to me.

Isn't the human mind strange? I have always been a strong person but because of a single person's betrayal, I am reduced to a weak and emotional wreck.

Not strange at all. I am strong too - a feisty devil. This has reduced me to a slithering mess. Plus I still love the man, despite a need to hate him instead.

Fill out those forms! Onward and upward!

Punkatheart I totally hate XH so let's see what the counsellor thinks about that!

Had a look at the forms - they even ask for religion, ethnic origin, etc., etc. - what has that got to do with making someone who is depressed better? But who am I to argue - forms will be completed and sent tomorrow. Onward and upward!

Ah well, I think I can shed some light on this one.

Therapists/counsellors do not design these forms or have any per se interest in your demographic details. These are for the commisioners of the service you are being referred to and are policy for the identifying of need and the payment of services.

Your counsellor should be interested in you. I hope you get to see someone soon.

Wisedupwoman Thanks for that bit of light. Sorry to read about LBM - hope you are OK.
