10 weeks ago i started a thread asking for help - i was in a very desperate place, totally dependent on alchohol, unhappy, lonely and floundering around trying to make sense of it all. i was in danger of losing everything i hold dear.

in those few short weeks, i have got my life back and picked up a few computer friends along the way - we help each other, support each other, and laugh and cry together - if you would like to join us, please feel free - no judging, preaching, sermonising or moralising - we are simply ordinary people with a bloody awful illness!

jeminthecellar · 10/08/2010 13:44

I know people who go to Darlington meetings...I nearly went once too but for school run times...hhmm this is good! Most people live in London on here (the website in general)

Mouseface · 10/08/2010 13:45

I'm a Manc. Lived there for 33 years. Actually, I always said I was a Cheshire lass darling....... Grin

Not a strong Manc twang, more Northern.

Live elsewhere though now. Far greener with real trees and fresh air! Shock

Toclearmyhead · 10/08/2010 13:45

I'm across the border in Lancashire!

Not as far North as you Jem :)

jesuswhatnext · 10/08/2010 13:47

I grew up in Notts though, but have been up here for nearly 20 years and have a sort of Geordie accent, but go into 'aayup duck' speak when I am cross...or so my kids say...lol

jeminthecellar · 10/08/2010 13:48

jesus Grin about bloody time mate!!

jeminthecellar · 10/08/2010 13:49

Anyway, am off to bed, thankyou for the welcome into the thread. I am FB friends with MIFLAW

RedMoomin · 10/08/2010 13:49

It's nice to get a good mixture of locations and 'see' some northerners Wink! It's really lovely round here - lots of fresh air and beautiful countryside. That's another thing that should go on my gratitude list!

Mouseface · 10/08/2010 13:49

Yes, I get told I'm 'talking Chorley' when I'm ranting!! Grin

Hey JWN do you want the list? Mail me at [email protected].

Hope you are feeling better lovely. xx

RedMoomin · 10/08/2010 13:50

JWN - so, so pleased to 'see' you. All seems quite clam here today, phew!

Toclearmyhead · 10/08/2010 13:52

jesuswhatnext · 10/08/2010 13:53

im from very south of watford - i thought it was a 'bit grim up north'!! Grin

OP posts:
RedMoomin · 10/08/2010 13:55

Fountains Abbey is fab!
I also do not have a strong accent. It is definitely northern - as I would always say glass as opposed to glarse etc - but not in your face northern, unlike my dh's Smile

Mouseface · 10/08/2010 13:56

JWN - not your responsibility. I don't mean that in a shitty way, just that you can only do so much. Being here and posting is all we can do for each other sometimes.

Smile

We have friends in Ripon. I heart Ripon. We're going soon. So pretty. And Harrogate. Lovely.

Toclearmyhead · 10/08/2010 13:59

Snap Moomin.

Castle not carstle.

But what about scone? At school in Yorks they all said scohne - I say scone to rhyme with gone.

Sorry - I digress Blush

RedMoomin · 10/08/2010 13:59

JWN - not a problem! I had my heart in my mouth just reading the thread the following morning. It must have been intense to be 'there'.

You did what you could and I did not think you were being unfriendly at all when I was reading your posts - but like you said this morning, your top priority is your sobriety.

So pleased you're back Grin

jesuswhatnext · 10/08/2010 13:59

ooo i have been to harrogate, lovley little shops and bettys tearooms!

OP posts:
Mouseface · 10/08/2010 13:59
