Brave Battling Babes - Booze No More!!

Mouseface · 30/07/2010 23:47

Well, thanks to the refreshingly honest and inspirational JesusWhatNext - this is the third thread, for the battle to beat the booze for all of those who are on the path to do so.

Some are sober, some are trying to be and some are still drinking.

I'm Mouse, I'm new to this and I'm scared. So, come and join the journey.

Clearmyhead, I just reply randomly to things that feel similar to things I've experienced, so some people probably think I'm really rude and ignoring them. I don't mean to be.

I also usually post to one person in each post, so the thread ends up with a whole series of posts from me, all in a row, and i look like a madwoman having a conversation with myself (it has been known).

I also take ages to type, so by the time I answer, the thread has often moved on and everyone has gone away to eat icecream and have a bath.

GlassInHand · 03/08/2010 20:10

Just rang her to double check. She said that there is approx 600 - 750 per bottle but she had added in the packet of crisps or bag of peanuts for during the binge. And then she snorted and said, and you can add on at least 500 for all the shite you will need to eat the next day bringing us over half our daily need of calories in one sitting!

venusandmars · 03/08/2010 20:13

Glass, like JWN, I am a bit of a meditation freak.

I used to find it really hard, but I bought some CDs that play different frequencies in each ear and make you brain waves relax. Now I've 'trained' my brain I find it quite easy to get all trance-like.

I also like guided mediations where someone talks you through relaxing and imagining you're in a green forest, look up at the trees in the sunshine, listen to a little river in the distance, walk down a path until you reach a waterfall, put your feet into the cool clear water, feel how fresh it feels, feel the cool breeze on your cheek...... that sort of thing.

On occasions that kind of thing can be a little mind-altering too. But in a good way. And no calories.

GlassInHand · 03/08/2010 20:15

Oh I would adore to try the guided meditation Venus, that sounds like something I could cope with. Where do you get the cd's?

venusandmars · 03/08/2010 20:19

I'll have a look and post on here tomorrow.

ChristianaTheSeventh · 03/08/2010 20:30

Glass I get so stressed out that I nearly threw up on the way to the interview and the way back. I went into a shop near the office where I was being interviewed and started to ask for something but ended up bursting into tears! I know exactly how it feels - wellI know exactly how I feel sorry -= when I am really anxious, I don't know why it happens to me. it is so deeply unpleasant.I take Sertraline but maybe I need to take more?!

GlassInHand · 03/08/2010 20:34

CTS, check and see if you can take high strength fish oils with your meds. They have been shown to really help.

Anxiety is horrible, I cry alot too.

GlassInHand · 03/08/2010 20:36

I am spotty today by the way, and I am loving it

ChristianaTheSeventh · 03/08/2010 20:42

My spots have cleared up really well now, having been grim last week

Will investigate the fish oils thank you

venusandmars · 03/08/2010 20:51

Glass, I am not at home at the moment so can't tell you the exact CDs that I use, but here is a link to a guided meditation that you can download free: secret garden free meditation. It lasts about 12 minutes.

You have to give them your email address and then they email you a link and you can listen to a meditation tonight, if you want. Of course they are trying to get you to join their CD library, so just ignore that part at the end of the meditation.

It works best if you listen through headphones because you are less distracted by outside noise.

GlassInHand · 03/08/2010 20:56

Ok great thanks Venus, will defo do that. Getting a bit angsty again so going to go and wash the floors.

venusandmars · 03/08/2010 21:02

Also on the link they send you is a "rapid relaxation" download which takes about 4 minutes. I've just done it so I'm very, very, caaalllmmmmmmm......

Mouseface · 03/08/2010 21:02

Arrgh - just wiped off my post!
Was agreeing with Venus about using drink to meet every need /feeling .
Except of course it doesn't! So you end up feeling worse anyway .
And I also reply randomly to people - but I'm thinking of you all ,even though I don't name everyone ...
Though thank you Mouse for asking after me .
Supermalt is a Caribbean drink - sold in all the corner shops in the metropolis where I live . And Morrisons .

Day two here as well

Well done everyone

jesuswhatnext · 03/08/2010 23:03

i am off to bed too, been to meditation class, i have real trouble relaxing, i find even meditating can be very hard to do, my brain goes off like a teleprinter - sometimes i just go with the thoughts, it can be quite nice to half an hour of uninterupted thought, sorts loads out in the head!

i also reply fairly randomly, sorry! , like venus, i take ages to type and by the time i post you lot have sorted each other out!

anyway - a huge well done to everyone, tomorrow will be a good morning for all of us! and of course

WE WILL NOT BE DRINKING!

see you all in the morning - very sweet dreams!
