If she is upduffed, that will be three children from three different men (even if one of them was a test-tube). Who does she think she is? Jennifer?

Slut-shaming, eh? How very unsisterly. Oh, it’s Helen…
As you were, pigs.

FatRosie · 06/03/2026 22:45

Doesn't she need Susan to be present to curdle the milk?

Update.

8th March 2026 - 13th March 2026
08.3 Alice and Rex are getting along fine, and the Grundys have a get-together.
09.3 Chris is taken aback, and Kirsty and Kate fail in a resolution.
10.3 George gets a shock, and Josh is very low.
11.3 Brian meddles in his children’s lives, and Ben and Azra have a plan.
12.3 Chris is struggling a bit, and Jakob is bemused.
13.3 Amber soothes George’s fears, and Kate takes Brian to task.

Writer - Sarah Hehir

Brian Aldridge - Charles Collingwood
Ben Archer - Ben Norris
David Archer - Timothy Bentinck
Ruth Archer - Felicity Finch
Lilian Bellamy - Sunny Ormonde
Alice Carter - Hollie Chapman
Chris Carter - Wilf Scolding
Rex Fairbrother - Nick Barber
Amber Gordon - Olivia Bernstone
George Grundy - Angus Stobie
Jakob Hakansson - Paul Venables
Kate Madikane - Perdita Avery
Azra Malik - Yasmin Wilde
Kirsty Miller - Annabelle Dowler
Lily Pargetter - Katie Redford
Reg - Trevor Fox

Radio Times 14th to 20th March
Alice tells Chris that she is with Rex and receives a positive reaction, though it may not show Chris’s true feelings. The Grundy family rift looks to be healing, but something happens to put George in a difficult position. Josh is acting very distant with the family during lambing at Brookfield, worrying David and Ruth.

Total TV Guide - March 8th-13th 2026
Alice bites the bullet and tells Chris that she and Rex are an item. Nothing lasts forever (sob), but does the noble farrier’s cheery response conceal secret heartbreak? Meanwhile, Brian bestows relationship guru status on himself, deciding he brought the new couple together and pontificating about Kate and Jakob. Surely there’s some spring sowing he could be getting on with? Eddie arranges a boozy baby shower for Amber, but there’s trouble brewing for George on the way home from the cider session - hopefully not involving a bottle to the head this time. It’s lambing time at Brookfield and David and Ruth are worried about Josh, who appears like a lost sheep amid the babel of bleating.

Daily Mail Weekend Magazine Archers Update - March 8th-13th 2026
Brian continues to meddle, David and Ruth are concerned about Josh, and can Lilian save the Ambridge Cricket Club?

15th March 2026 - 20th March 2026
15.3 Tom and Helen are worried about Tony, and Lynda’s on the warpath.
16.3 Ruairi’s got a lot on his mind, and Esme thinks she might lose the farm.
17.3 Ruairi helps George out, and Anna Tregorran battles with her elderly mother, Carol.
18.3 Brian learns something new, and Lynda helps Azra out.
19.3 Esme gets an important message, and Justin gets unexpected help from Tracy.
20.3 Brian tries to cut a deal, and Alan visits Carol.

22nd March 2026 - 27th March 2026
22 Mar Josh drops a bombshell, and Justin thinks he knows what’s the matter with Brian.
23 Mar George is up in court again, and Helen is at odds with her dad.
24 Mar Alice checks in on Brian, and David and Ruth are knocked for six.
25 Mar Esme is celebrating on Lady Day, and George has something to say.
26 Mar George has plans, and Ben breaks some news to David and Ruth.
27 Mar Brian changes his plans, and Tony makes peace with Helen.

Up in court again! Surely this has something to do with the reappearance in the cast of his probation officer, Reg. Giving evidence at Markie's man's trial?

I think it was a country lane with plenty of bushes.

TottersBlatantlyTowardsTheBaileys · 09/03/2026 11:10

That’s how I understood it, too - but I couldn’t see any reason for that scene, so invented one …

@Gasp0deTheW0nderD0g , thanks for the spoilers.
I don't think it will be for spending a penny, but there was a reason for the scene.

BrightYellowDaffodil · 09/03/2026 16:01

Blimey, what's George going to be in court for again? Mind, I'm assuming he's a defendant rather than a witness.

And what bombshell is Josh going to have now? That he's NOT leaving the country?

AskingQuestionsAllTheTime · 09/03/2026 16:52

Josh does rather go in for bombshells at the moment: two in two weeks, is it?

GoodQueenWenceslaus · 10/03/2026 08:36

David and Ruth being knocked for six has to be cricket related somehow.

Cast list for week ending Friday 20th March attached. Carol Tregorran has been re-cast - Mia Soterious takes over from Eleanor Bron. Apparently she played a character called Carmen in 2019. Isobel Middleton was Anna before, though, so continuity there.

Here's the RT preview for that week. Odd description of how Anna came to represent Helen. I suppose she may have acted for her in the divorce proceedings as well as Helen's trial for attempted murder of Rob.

Carol Tregorran is heard once more! The long-silent Ambridge stalwart (now played by Mia Soteriou) returns to the airwaves, but only because she’s had a fall. Helen is called to help and catches up with Carol’s barrister daughter Anna (who represented her in the case against Rob) as she tries to convince Carol she needs care. Ruairi is treading a fine line, as he cosies up to George (to Brian’s displeasure) and is distracted and careless at work, raising concerns for Neil.

(I've found the synopsis for the 30/10/19 episode where Carmen Benson appeared. It rings no bells at all. Well over six years since poor Jakob took up with Kate! Reminds me how much I miss Jennifer, though. <img loading="lazy" class="inline-flex mumsnet-emoji" alt="Sad" src="https://www.mumsnet.com/build/assets/sad-q5SIe0Cq.png">

The public urination turns out to be in the middle of the village at the back of the bus stop. Yeurgh. As Asking pointed out on the main thread, this is a stone's throw from George's home, so why couldn't he wait? We all know the answer to that one - plot purposes. The SW needed him to do something anti-social which is technically a criminal offence but which wouldn't get him put back inside. Strong 'that'll do' vibes about this incident.

@Gasp0deTheW0nderD0g , the weird bit is probably some rogue ` characters.

NotNowMrTumble · 11/03/2026 13:47

Joe as in Joe Grundy?

FatRosie · 11/03/2026 13:48

The spoiler from 2019 threw me a bit. I missed the date! Had a 'What?!' moment. Smile
You are right about the George needing to spend a penny - probably chosen to be enough to blot his copybook but that's all.
Thanks.

My mind's all over the place, I read @NotNowMrTumble 's post as 'Rogue character as in Joe Grundy' Blush

Pre-pandemic! Seems like a century ago. However, some things don't change. Here's a post of mine from the main thread that week. Take out the bits relating to that week's storyline and it looks as if I've spent the last 6.5 years moaning about exactly the same stuff and yet still listening.

What a load of old toot TA is at the moment. FGS, Jakob, you should be running for the hills and thanking your lucky stars you've dodged a bullet*, not going grovelling to the monster Kate!
As for that baloney with Toby hiding under the bar, what was all that about? Is he going to end up with Helen? Or is it all about Toby slowly growing up? I find I don't care, which is a pity.
I grew up with TA on in the background when my mum was in the kitchen. I started listening to R4 when I left home because I liked it, and inevitably from time to time TA came on. I didn't switch it off, and eventually made the vital step to noting the transmission times and switching the radio on so as not to miss an episode. That was the very early 80s, and I've scarcely missed an episode since - I haven't missed a single one since i player was introduced.
I'm increasingly thinking that if I were in the same position now I'd be actively switching it off. It sounds more and more like the John Finnemore version. www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/p04py4pm

Gaspode my relationship with the archers is so exactly like yours, but a decade later. I too don’t think I’d keep listening now - the writing can be so awful, and I cringe so much

Haven't updated this thread till now because there isn't really a lot to add. However, here are all the current spoilers in one place.

Radio Times 15th March to 20th March 2026
Carol Tregorran is heard once more! The long-silent Ambridge stalwart (now played by Mia Soteriou) returns to the airwaves, but only because she’s had a fall. Daily Mail Weekend Magazine Archers Update - March 15th-20th 2026
Emma receives bad news, and George pitches in with some advice, but will it help? Carol, meanwhile, has a fall and has to be convinced that she needs care, and Tracy helps out Justin.

No cast or writer info available for this week as far as I know. The following week is just showing on the BBC website as Contemporary drama in a rural setting. I doubt whether this indicates a huge shock coming. More likely some sort of cost-saving measure or change in staffing. They aren't providing the cast list there in advance any more at all, so it looks we will have to rely on the Radio Times for that kind of thing.

26 Mar George has plans, and Ben breaks some news to David and Ruth.

"Mum, Dad ... you know that cottage you were planning to leave to either Josh or me in your Wills? Well, I've been having a chat with Carol Tregorran and it turns out that it isn't yours to leave to anyone. It doesn't even belong to Gran. Grandad Phil just left her a life interest in it, and when she carks it <to use the approved medical term> it will belong to Auntie Shula and Auntie Elizabeth."

Sorry I've not updated in a while. Family stuff, unfortunately. Sad Anyway, here goes. I can only provide the missing bits for last week and teasers, cast list and preview for this week. The BBC is not putting up teasers for anything beyond that at the moment, annoyingly.

Missing bits for last week, for completeness.

Radio Times Ambridge Diary 22-27 March
George must feel that someone is taking the P, reporting him to the police for public urination just as he's getting his life back together. It's his hearing this week, but which way will the latest twist in his story go? Perceptive Miranda is concerned about Brian, while Josh is also shocking his nearest and dearest, dropping a bombshell on Ruth and David. Hopefully all the Blue Lights chatter has now ended - is the editor a fan?

Total TV Guide - March 22nd-27th 2026
Who’d be a parent? Barely have Ruth and David taken in Josh’s shock news that he’s leaving Ambridge when he drops another bombshell. Then Ben rattles them with an announcement of his own. Brian’s a bag of nerves under the strain of protecting Ruairi and the threat of being blackmailed by George. Alice and Miranda are concerned, but Miranda’s less sympathetic when he blindsides her with a startling decision. Miranda’s ex Justin is also in the doghouse when Lilian berates him for telling porkies. George is in court, and, in a rare moment of self-awareness, worries about Esme finding out. And Tracy's concerned about Helen’s move. Does anyone really want their boss living on the same street?

And now on to the current week:

29th March 2026 - 3rd April 2026
Sunday 29/03/2026 Brian tries to straighten things out with Miranda, and money problems loom for Natasha and Tom.
30/3/2026 Pip’s doing some gardening, and Henry’s goats are going off to Market.
31/3/2026 Lynda recruits for the Easter Promises Tree, and Robert interrogates Oliver.
1/4/26 Azra pushes forward with her Mental Health Initiative, and Pip has a nasty shock.
2/4/26 Miranda learns about Brian’s past, and Oliver wonders if he should give up riding.
3/4/2026 Brian tries to speak to Miranda, and Robert finally comes clean to Lynda.

Stella Pryor … Lucy Speed
Lynda Snell … Carole Boyd

Radio Times 29 March-3 April
Lynda has moved on from re-enacting Police Camera Action! with her speed gun and is now press-ganging volunteers for the Easter Promises Tree. But not everyone is keen - possibly because it sounds like a sinister Eastern European animation. Miranda hears some truths about Brian's past, Natasha and Tom worry about how they'll cope when Helen moves out, and Robert deceives Lynda to help the cricket team - he'd best beware the Easter Promises Tree.
