Spoilers thread for The Archers. Please keep all spoiler-related discussion in this thread and do not spill the beans on the main Archers Thread. Last spoilers thread here: www.mumsnet.com/talk/radio_addicts/4197199--The-Archers-spoilers-thread-7-Cant-wait-for-7-02pm-Join-us-here

Current main Archers thread here: https://www.mumsnet.com/talk/radio_addicts/4887688-archers-thread-153-total-absolute-rubbish-but-we-keep-on-listening-hoping-for-better-things-its-the-hope-that-kills-you-discuss-the-archers-here?latest=1 The main thread tends to last a few weeks. The spoiler thread runs for around a year, but I strongly suspect it gets read about as much as the main thread.

Yes, I wonder!

Gonners · 11/11/2023 20:36

Could be ... or could be Peggoi. With any luck it will be an extra special episode with both. But they wouldn't spoil us with double delight, would they?

AskingQuestionsAllTheTime · 13/11/2023 20:42

It's another "life changing week"; almost as good as "the end of an era". Maybe it's both.

BBC One-Liners
12 Nov Alan finally sees the light, and Kate is not impressed.
13 Nov Joy comes to the rescue, and Lilian faces the wrath of a dissatisfied customer.
14 Nov Events spiral out of control for Helen, and there’s a surprising confrontation for Alice.
15 Nov Alice takes a big step, and Jakob has his arm twisted.
16 Nov One resident makes a shocking request, and Lilian offers some advice.
17 Nov Helen and Rob reach the end of the line, but how will the final chapter in their story end?

Radio Times Ambridge Diary 12th – 17th November 2023
To say Helen has struggled to live a free and easy life recently is an understatement. Now, while Rob faces his fate and Jack continues to ask questions, she makes a monumental decision. But as she prepares to enter the lion's den, it looks as though there may be fresh hell to come.
Meanwhile, Kate and Jakob clash over both Brian's 80th and Ruairi's 21st birthdays.

Daily Mail Weekend Magazine Archers Update 12th – 17th November 2023
Tension has been brewing for a long time now for Helen, with her villainous ex-husband Rob back on the scene and her relationship with Lee faltering. This looks set to be a life-changing week.

Gonners · 13/11/2023 20:50

I'm not entirely convinced that Miles - or at least "Miles-on-the-phone" - is being played by a different actor from Rob. Unless he also works as an impressionist?

AskingQuestionsAllTheTime · 13/11/2023 20:53

They are both in this week, with different actors, so I expect they are.

JanglyBeads · 13/11/2023 21:08

Had to hop over here as can't bear the tension re Helen.

Do we know who Harry Chilcott is - that wasn't the guy tonight was it?

JanglyBeads · 13/11/2023 21:08

Rereading cast list - must have been, apologies

Gonners · 13/11/2023 21:42

AskingQuestionsAllTheTime · 13/11/2023 20:53

They are both in this week, with different actors, so I expect they are.

They do sound quite extraordinarily alike, though, don't they? I mean in the sense that Miles sounds like Rob to me. And I don't remember that being the case when Miles first appeared.

TopOfTheCliff · 13/11/2023 21:48

So checking the cast list who is Annie? My money is on her being the Marie Curie nurse/ paid carer for Rob. There isn’t a synopsis on the BBC sounds for Friday which usually means excitement. Hopefully he gets deaded properly. But why would Helen go anywhere near his deathbed?

He sounded enough like Rob for Helen having said, as a fact, that Rob had rung her and she had recognised his voice, to make perfect sense. He sounded just the same as Rob used to; mostly intonation and choice of words.

There is no synopsis for any episode which has not yet been broadcast, though, is there? And then there is a cast-list instead for Fridays, which gets changed to a synopsis after the weekend. Usually does, anyway.

RegimentalSturgeon · 13/11/2023 22:19

why would Helen go anywhere near his deathbed?

Well, once he’s dead she’ll be a bit deprived of drama, so she’s making the most of it while she can.

TopOfTheCliff · 13/11/2023 22:30

@AskingQuestionsAllTheTime there is normally a one liner in advance and a fuller synopsis afterwards. Nothing for Friday though.

Gasp0deTheW0nderD0g · 13/11/2023 22:32

Yes, there is a one liner for Friday. Asking put it above.

Helen and Rob reach the end of the line, but how will the final chapter in their story end?

Thanks, Asking!

TopOfTheCliff · 13/11/2023 22:41

That’s weird! If you click on the cast list the one liner disappears. I must have got overexcited! Can’t wait!

JanglyBeads · 14/11/2023 00:15

You don't get a final chapter when you have children with your abuser

WhoppingBigBackside · 14/11/2023 10:17

Harry Chilcott is the owner of the horse that got injured because of the fireworks. He and Alice will fall in love.

Rob and Miles do sound alike.

Gonners · 14/11/2023 18:34

I'm quite looking forward to this evening:

14 Nov Events spiral out of control for Helen ...

But it's going to be disappointing, isn't it?

JanglyBeads · 14/11/2023 19:53

Never a truer word @Gonners .....

JanglyBeads · 14/11/2023 19:53

There was absolutely no spiralling there.

Gonners · 14/11/2023 20:27

Indeed: if events spiralled at all, they did so into control for Helen. She has now "done the right thing".

JanglyBeads · 14/11/2023 20:29

Yes!

Madcats · 14/11/2023 21:10

Missing the point entirely, but "Rob" is a great villain in terrestrial theatre.

They do sound similar. I find this quite realistic - my brothers sound very similar to each other - both voice and intonation.

WhoppingBigBackside · 16/11/2023 13:58

John Telfer – Bristol Ensemble
He doesn't look how I imagine him.
