Spoilers thread for The Archers. Please keep all spoiler-related discussion in this thread and do not spill the beans on the main Archers Thread. Last spoilers thread here: www.mumsnet.com/talk/radio_addicts/4197199--The-Archers-spoilers-thread-7-Cant-wait-for-7-02pm-Join-us-here

Current main Archers thread here: https://www.mumsnet.com/talk/radio_addicts/4887688-archers-thread-153-total-absolute-rubbish-but-we-keep-on-listening-hoping-for-better-things-its-the-hope-that-kills-you-discuss-the-archers-here?latest=1 The main thread tends to last a few weeks. The spoiler thread runs for around a year, but I strongly suspect it gets read about as much as the main thread.

Thanks @AskingQuestionsAllTheTime . A bang doesn't have to be from a firework.

Please, not another shower scene at The Bull!

WhoppingBigBackside · 04/11/2023 18:24

@Gonners, I'm not sure what sort of bang you were thinking but the shower scene was a bang with fireworks.
I was thinking of Pat Archer's shotgun.

Bruisername · 04/11/2023 20:05

As they are getting the fireworks from Eddie I would imagine they won’t be silent and it will cause a hoo haa with those who had campaigned for the silent ones

TottersBlanklyIntoBimboCore · 05/11/2023 07:39

Thanks @AskingQuestionsAllTheTime.

Maybe the omnibus will clarify but at the moment I’m confused as to how Jazzer going for promotion to Hannah’s job, and Hannah moving into the Bungalow, can run concurrently. I thought the whole point was that he might be promoted if she were to leave because she couldn’t find accommodation in Ambridge. Clearly there’s something I’ve missed?

WhoppingBigBackside · 05/11/2023 07:44

Hannah has said that she might leave the area, which would mean her job would be up for grabs and she suggested that Jazzer apply. if she finds accommodation, there won't be a job vacancy. It's probably just raising Jazzer's hopes only to have him disappointed.

TottersBlanklyIntoBimboCore · 05/11/2023 07:58

But why would they repeat the Fallon / Emma scenario so immediately? It makes no sense.

Edited

But how can Jazzer apply for a job that hasn't yet been advertised? This is what seems to be happening.

Bruisername · 05/11/2023 08:56

I would suggest 3 options
1 Hannah stays, jazzer disappointed
2 Hannah goes, jazzer gets job and no proper process is done
3 Hannah goes, someone else gets job, jazzer disappointed and realises he wants to better himself and goes back to school to do an English literature gcse

I'll offer another thought: Neil qualified for his state pension back in May, and might decide to retire one day. When he does, maybe Jazzer takes over Neil's post. AIUI Neil is there because he knows pigs, not because he is a wizard with accounts/computers, so that would be a better fit for Jazzer than Hannah's job anyway.

Bruisername · 05/11/2023 11:56

Isn’t Neil Hannah’s boss?

Gonners · 05/11/2023 11:58

What exactly is Hannah's job? Is she piglady-in-chief or some sort of under-manager?

AskingQuestionsAllTheTime · 05/11/2023 12:15

Bruisername · 05/11/2023 11:56

Isn’t Neil Hannah’s boss?

No. They are both managers, with different responsibilities: her for the indoor pigs, him for the outdoor ones. When she was hired, Neil took a cut in pay.

TherapistInATabard · 06/11/2023 08:04

So they’ve set up this whole thing with fireworks and animals, and after the predictably non-silent fireworks last night, we don’t have Alice, Mia or Jakob in the cast this week? Not even Lillian?

Bruisername · 06/11/2023 08:32

It seems like the whole thing was set up to create tension between eddie and Kenton

I don’t like having so much strife

Ambridge · 06/11/2023 08:43

I’m so, so over the 'hilarious' rogue that is Eddie.

Bruisername · 06/11/2023 08:51

Yes - this wasn’t ‘cheeky chappy’

TherapistInATabard · 06/11/2023 08:54

You can see the cogs turning with all the storylines at the moment, and I hate it.

After Eddie's vile practical joke at Kenton's expense, pretending to be on the verge of a marriage break-up over a kiss Kenton and Clarrie shared before ever Clarrie met Eddie, I would have thought that relations between them would be a bit edgy anyway. Certainly not of the "I'll give you several hundred quid to buy fireworks and not even look at the boxes" closeness kind.

TherapistInATabard · 10/11/2023 18:09

9 Nov It’s all change at Berrow, and George hatches a plan.
10 Nov Helen makes a shocking decision, and Eddie looks for the silver lining.

So actually it was ‘no change at all at Berrow’.

‘Helen’s shocking decision’ is presumably letting Jack meet Rob.

Bruisername · 10/11/2023 18:15

Yes - only shocking to other characters I guess

Gonners · 10/11/2023 21:29

For "shocking" read "really rather stupid but entirely predictable".

Turns out to be
4 Hannah stays, Jazzer delighted!

Waste of airtime, really, unless it gets Pip so angry and tantrummy about Hannah lodging with Stella that she leaves the country and ideally the planet.

Bruisername · 11/11/2023 10:58

Well that would be good! Or maybe her mega tantrum will cause her to combust
