The spoiler thread runs for around a year, but I strongly suspect it gets read about as much as the main thread.

I suspect that's not a very recent photo, as John Telfer's now 71. On the other hand, I don't expect he's as - er - "ample" as I imagine Bunter.

Gasp0deTheW0nderD0g · 16/11/2023 16:45

Oh, I don't know. I imagine Alan spends a lot of time dashing from one parish to another, one event to another. Plenty of tea, quite a few cakes and biscuits, but also a lot of time spent in the freezing church. Lots of evening engagements meaning he has rushed meals when he can get them.

Usha has remarked on his increased girth on air, and so has his daughter Amy, who once recently rudely described him as "waddling", I think.

Gasp0deTheW0nderD0g · 16/11/2023 17:19

Well, I'm going to be charitable and assume he started off as extremely lean and now has a little bit of a tum, as a great many of us do once middle age hits. It's very noticeable when that happens. There's more meat on a butcher's pencil than on my husband, and he notices at once if he puts on a fraction of a pound.

[Gasp averts eyes from own midriff, which contains significantly more than a little bit of tum]

WhoppingBigBackside · 17/11/2023 13:44

A few pounds gained or lost are quite obvious on me, and people will tell me.

Is tonight the big night?

AskingQuestionsAllTheTime · 17/11/2023 13:56

17 Nov Helen and Rob reach the end of the line, but how will the final chapter in their story end?

WhoppingBigBackside · 17/11/2023 14:06

And will it be the final chapter?

Something is making me think of the bath scene in Fatal Attraction.

TottersBlanklyIntoBimboCore · 18/11/2023 13:55

Thanks @WhoppingBigBackside. Read the extract, and have downloaded the free kindle sample to phone. It looks slightly annoyingly breezy (and full of dialogue, not surprisingly!) but that may just be in opposition to my current mood.

Radio Times Ambridge Diary 19th – 24th November 2023
While the Archer family struggles to process the events of last week, an unexpected visitor gives them another shock.
Brian's 80th celebrations look set to be rather muted, and Adam is concerned about questions that arise over one of the guests.
At Grange Farm, Ed is under pressure as recent developments have put his flock at risk.
And at Grey Gables, Adil finally opens his heart, but will people be prepared to forgive his past mistakes and get the hotel back on its feet?

Daily Mail Weekend Magazine Archers Update 19th – 24th November 2023
Brian’s 80th birthday celebrations looks to be a subdued affair after last week’s explosive events, and if Grey Gables opens its doors again, will people be able to forgive Adil for past mistakes?+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=

All Ed needs to do is get rid of last year's lambs (all 52 of them, or even just 40 and keep the most promising ewe-lambs) so that he has a little under an acre of land per sheep for his flock, which is surely enough for any sheep. he is being hysterical about something he ought to have done back in August anyway. You don't keep lambs over winter poaching the ground and growing too large for easy sale.

WhoppingBigBackside · 18/11/2023 14:24

Thanks Asking. No Pat or Tony. I'm not convinced that Rob is dead yet but suspect that Miles will try to say that Helen dedded him.

Has Brian found a girlfriend? Azra or Denise perhaps? I need to learn to ignore some Radio Addicts threads Wink

I can't remember when Ed's ewes lambed but the texel lambs would be likely to be too big now. I grew up on a farm and lambs came early to get sold for easter.

AskingQuestionsAllTheTime · 18/11/2023 15:30

Late lambs from Brookfield used to be sold in August. We didn't hear when Ed's Texels lambed but I would be (very) surprised if it were later than June.

We were told (by Ed) that Ed's thirty ewes had fifty-two lambs and that all of these eighty-two sheep (the past year's lambs are definitely full-grown sheep by now!) were on his fifty acres but would not fit into forty acres – well, not and allow him and Eddie to make money selling hay as well, which seemed to be upsetting him too.

WhoppingBigBackside · 18/11/2023 15:38

If he's kept all his ewe lambs, he'll need a different ram.

I don't think the SW who wrote that scene, Avin Shah, has the slightest idea about sheep-farming, to be honest. (I am not at all sure Ed has either, or ever has had!)

WhoppingBigBackside · 18/11/2023 16:18

I've always liked Elizabeth. She was a spoilt brat but I always liked her.
I like Helen despite everything. I wish they'd forget Pip ever existed.

That's something that wouldn't have occurred to me. 😟On the other hand, these be Grundy sheep so they've all probably been inbred for generations.

WhoppingBigBackside · 18/11/2023 19:13

Hmm, well he has a Lot of sheep, if ewe pardon the pun. Maybe his daughters will ply him with Grundy Cider.

When Ed had just started his flock of Texels in 2017 he paid for AI and thus got his prize-winning ram-lamb Peppa Pig, whom he sold for a lot of money. And in 2022 one of his rams got caught in a hedge and he had to go out and rescue it instead of watching a film with Emma.

So come to think of it, the total number of sheep he has is thirty ewes, fifty-two "lambs", and an unknown number of rams.

WhoppingBigBackside · 18/11/2023 19:52

Thanks Asking. You should be the archivist.
Seems a bit OTT to have several rams for such a small flock. Maybe they were ram lamba-ding-dongs

WhoppingBigBackside · 20/11/2023 10:16

Jim's mole scare. Have we heard the results?
Azra moving to Ambridge. Maybe she will hit it off with .... Stella. They'll be the same sort of age-group, and Azra AFAIK does not have a young child and does not behave like a 16-yr old.

Visitor at Fridge Barm will be Harrison because of a murder allegation by the Titcheners. Helen's prints will be all over the pillow and Miles will have bugged the room.

AskingQuestionsAllTheTime · 20/11/2023 13:31

Or else it will be Miles. He is in the cast, Harrison isn't.

Had a peek at the Radio Times for next week and there's an interview with the Rob actor in it. He seems a nice chap.

Madcats · 23/11/2023 12:55

I saw "Rob" and "Fallon" in a play last year. He was a villain in that (and very good).

He seems to do a lot of voice-over work (including video games, which I seem to remember that "Kirsty" does too).

I'm hoping that he diversifies into audiobooks.

WhoppingBigBackside · 23/11/2023 15:10

What's 'Fallon''s real accent like?
